Well it’s official. NASA have green lit civilian tourists to stay at the International Space Station as part of today’s thriving commercial economy for low-Earth orbit.
The announcement comes as part of a plan which will see private stays lasting up to 30 days. The move is a direct result of Boeing and Space X’s advancements in developing capsules that can efficiently carry humans to the ISS, with NASA adding that all private astronauts and their associated services will be managed independently by the two companies. As an early trial, the space agency will start with two private flights a year from 2020 onwards.
A night in the world’s first ‘space hotel’ will come at a hefty price though. It’s expected that each guest will have to fork out US$35,000 a night just for using of the station’s facilities. This is non-inclusive of the cost of launching shuttles to and from the International Space Station.
So what’s the $35,000 paying for exactly? Think oxygen, ISS personnel expertise and other running costs required to get tourists to the station safely and back home. Meanwhile, the profits made from this new space tourism concept will be fed back into minimising NASA’s yearly expenditure of running the space station.
More interestingly, there’s been suggestions that this will be the first step in laying the foundation for the first business ecosystem to orbit the Earth. In the long term this will allow companies to manufacture, experiment, advertise and even host tourists in space.
According to NASA’s facts page, the International Space Station houses:
- Six sleeping quarters
- Two bathrooms
- A gym
- A 360-degree view bay window known as ‘Cupola’
Those keen on heading up for a space-cation will need to consider these health requisites.
- To mitigate the loss of muscle and bone mass in the human body in microgravity, the astronauts work out at least two hours a day
- The Water Recovery System reduces crew dependence on water delivered by a cargo spacecraft by 65 percent – from about 1 gallon a day to a third of a gallon
There’s no details yet on how to make a booking at the ISS but you can bet you won’t find it listed on Airbnb. Maybe try dropping NASA an e-mail if you’re serious.

Tinnies. Takeaway flat-whites. Tasmania. Tesla? Australia is known more for gas-guzzling than ‘sustainable energy’. Public-transport-complaining is a national hobby and if you’re not heading “up the coast” or “down the coast” on holiday then you’re not ‘true blue’.
Besides: if your ‘eco-friendly’ Prius breaks down in the middle of the Outback you’re in hotter sand than a backpacker who never got round to watching Wolf Creek. Anyone who grew up here will know this. However, many European tourists are shocked that a country so renowned for its natural beauty can be so cavalier about sustainability.
But the truth is Australia was not designed with public transport — let alone ‘sustainability’ — in mind. And for every dollar Angela Merkel spends on renewable energy, it seems the Australian government spends two on road-building.
There are three reasons for this.
Firstly: many Australian consumers don’t care about sustainability as much as the cultural capital their third gen ‘keep cup’ lends them.
Secondly: as reported by the Australian Financial Review, even while there is a renewable energy boom in other parts of the world, “Big infrastructure investors are steering clear of Australia’s energy sector because of the risks and political uncertainties.”
Thirdly: many people have forgotten that, as one surfer recently put it, “The real eco-warrior is the one wearing 20-year-old, mass produced boardshorts, not the one wearing the brand new recycled plastic monstrosities,” (paraphrased from deep in Swellnet’s commentary board).
Anyway — while we applaud small businesses like Who Gives A Crap for making their processes eco-friendly and socially responsible, the corporate anxiety around whether consumers really care about sustainability suggests most companies see sustainability as a cash cow rather than a moral responsibility.

Dating your yoga instructor, commute-crush, Tinder-bae and that guy/gal you just met at the bar may sound like fun but it’s actually a logistical nightmare. Plus, if you don’t communicate like an overblown Ted talker then some feelings are bound to get hurt — yours included. And whilst most of us consider ourselves lucky to attract the interest of one romantic party (let alone multiple), this just means that if and when the situation arises, we are woefully unprepared.
Enter: Reddit’s latest AskMen masterpiece: “New to dating. What’s the etiquette on dating multiple women at once?” In this thread, the internet forum’s 1.1 million-strong community weigh in — upvoting and downvoting the smartest responses — to bring us the ultimate guide to dating multiple people at once.
At what point are you assumed exclusive? When should you ask if they are seeing other people? How do you tell a long lusted after friend that you just don’t think it’s going to work? Wonder no more: this is the etiquette to getting freaky without getting freaked out on.
“Essentially, I’ve been on a 1st date with 2 different women. They both went very well. I know this may seem like a stupid question to some of you, but can I date them both for now? Obviously after 1 date it’s nothing serious, but I’ve genuinely never been in this position and don’t want to f*ck up haha.”
This is the question that started the debate. The internet’s answers are below.
It’s Fine To Be ‘Seeing’ Multiple People At Once
One Redditor sums it up perfectly: “If exclusivity hasn’t been discussed, it’s generally okay to be dating multiple people… up until a certain point. For example, if you’re only like a few dates in with the girls you’re talking to, then no harm no foul (the girls are probably talking to other guys too).”
“A surprising amount of girls will be okay with you talking to other girls in the early stages.”
But You Shouldn’t ‘Seriously Date’ Multiple Partners At Once (Unless They Know About It)
“HOWEVER,” the same Redditor continued, “If you’re doing ‘coupley’ things with a girl like staying the night, spending extended periods of time together, meeting her friends, etc then you should either stop talking to the other girls or make it very clear that you’re talking to other people.”
“I know some people like to use the excuse of ‘B-but we didn’t agree to be exclusive! It’s not my fault I was f*cking other people even though we were spending 4 nights a week together, holding hands in public, and basically acting like a couple!’ — it’s best to be transparent and not lead other people on.”
If your partner is fine with you ‘seriously dating’ (or ‘seeing’) someone else at the same time that the two of you are ‘seriously dating’ then great: but you have to give them the chance to make that decision for themselves.
Transparency Is Your Friend
“Some people really do use it as an excuse to stretch boundaries,” another commenter added. “It’s almost expected to be talking to multiple people early on, but at a certain point relationships require communication and transparency.”
“Lying by omission is still lying.”
In The End, It’s All About Context — & Your Gut
Hemingway once said, “So far, about morals, I know only that what is moral is what you feel good after and what is immoral is what you feel bad after.” So trust your conscience, and even if you can ‘technically’ justify something to yourself, if you’re conscience pings, it’s probably not kosher after all…
Or, as one commenter puts it, there is “a certain line of no return (having sex, dating constantly for more than two weeks, etc…) that I would let the other know that I was going to pursue the other person.”
But of course, you have to weight this up with the fact that, when you are using things like tinder, dates are incredibly hit and miss and everyone is hedging their bets a little. So — essentially — if you think you might really care about someone, or have hit it off with them, it’s probably best not to start seeing their best friend on the side…
“Obviously, it’s not ‘cheating’ because you aren’t together, but emotionally if I was dating a guy and things were progressing great, then I find out he has been seeing someone else too… it would feel like a betrayal, so I’d rather be honest about what I want than get upset by behaviour that to them was no big deal.”

Gone are the days where the reliable sweatshirt was solely associated with a man’s post-gym wardrobe. Or one that involves you, a pack of Cheetos and a Saturday night in. You’re better than that and so are modern-day sweatshirts. That’s why we’ve taken the liberty to run you through how to wear a sweatshirt and more importantly, what to wear it with.
But first, a quick history lesson. Most people aren’t aware of the difference between a sweater and a sweatshirt. Whilst they’re both the same design, sweatshirts are made of a cotton jersey and intended for athletic use. Sweaters, on the other hand, can be found in woven or more premium fabrics which make them ideal for formal and smart-casual looks. Think layering with a suit.
In This Story…
Picking A Good Sweatshirt
There are a few points to cover when looking for a reliable and stylish sweatshirt to throw over for casual duties.
Sweatshirt Fabrics
Classic sweatshirts are made of 100 percent loopback fabric and tend to be heavier in their threading. For modern sweatshirts, there are cotton-polyester mixes which can be thinner whilst remaining sturdy and insulating. Jersey cotton is best for comfort and durability, thus it’s used primarily in sportswear.
Sweatshirt Fitment
Classic sweatshirts exhibit a looser fit whilst contemporary sweats are cut closer to the body on the shoulders and waist. The choice is entirely up to the wearer but we suggest going for the slimmer fit for those after a smarter look to be paired with slim-fit jeans or chinos. Looser sweatshirts can be saved for weekend hiking.
How To Wear A Sweatshirt
The sweatshirt is as versatile as it is functional. Some of the world’s biggest celebrities have championed them in various ways and we’ve rounded them all up for you to gain inspiration from.
Sweatshirt With Jeans
A timeless sweatshirt move is the jeans and sweatshirt combo. Both slimmer and looser fitting sweatshirts work in this case since the entire look is a casual one. Colour-wise, you can opt for sweatshirts which match the denim colour or contrast it. Detailing is also a bonus here with everything from logos, to zippers and patterned stitching all fair game depending on your personal taste.
Sweatshirt With Chinos
Chinos are the perfect item for summer but they also work just as well during colder seasons when sweatshirt season kicks in and you want something a bit more relaxed than trousers but more formal than jeans. Given their smart-casual nature, it’s best to pair tighter-fitting sweatshirts with chinos. They can be worn over tees, collared shirts or polos for a sharp and effortless look.
Sweatshirt With Shorts
Here’s where things get gnarly. Are you hot or cold? Well, let’s just say this look is more suited to warm autumns where style counts more than functionality. As a winter workout look, the sweatshirt plays perfectly to a pair of gym shorts and runners. For something a bit more polished, go for fitted dress shorts and pair it with a non-logo sweatshirt (small branding is fine). Remember this sweatshirt and short look is more smart casual so you want to let the colours, fitment and fabric texture do the talking.
Sweatshirt With Trousers
From luxe streetwear to high paired-down formal wear, sweatshirts have today entered the pointier end of the male wardrobe. What that means is that trousers, traditionally worn with suits and dress shirts, can now be paired with a premium sweatshirt. Notice the keyword here is premium as this means a tailored fit, exquisite detailing and premium construction.
Nail these and you’ve got one slick sweatshirt look your next client meeting will thank you for. Also, the big fit is okay…but only if you’re in it for the fashion stakes. For a more professional look always go slimmer sweatshirts with trousers.
Sweatshirt With Sweatpants
Ah, the full sweatshirt/sweatpants combo. This is full athleisure mode where a gym uniform is now a lifestyle uniform. Use this look to visit your local cafe on a weekend, on a plane ride or just in regular transit. Either way, it’s a killer casual look for any casual occasion.
Sneakers are also warranted here and keep the sweatshirt fitted for a more contemporary look. Matching tops and bottoms is also the hottest trend right now.

Couples who dress together stay together. And it looks like Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Holland won’t be parting ways anytime soon with the duo sporting matching Santos de Cartier square watches at the latest Spider-Man: Far From Home press conference in Beijing.
On the left we see Gyllenhaal wearing the stainless steel band version of the square watch featuring a white dial. The 38-year-old actor paired that to a crisp black polo shirt, navy trousers and black leather lace-ups. Nothing too fancy but it gets the job done and lets the watch have all the attention.
Holland meanwhile is fast becoming one of this generation’s most stylish gents with a matching Santos de Cartier but in a leather blue strap. He paired the cool looking timepiece with check grey trousers and a patterned bowler shirt in matching blue. Shoes were textbook brown leather dress shoes, a perfect look for the humid Beijing days.
You could argue that matching watches don’t exactly prove anything about a bromance…but this Instagram post from Tom Holland should reaffirm their love for one another. And you can expect more back and forth between the two actors as the film’s premiere date ramps up.

Scott Evennett is fast becoming one of Australia’s most prominent faces in functional strength training. His background in fitness wasn’t fostered at a school though, it was forged in the Australian Special Forces where Evennett served (and got shot up) before retiring and turning his attention to the fitness industry. We’ve already spoken to Evennett in the past about commando training techniques for strength and stamina, dieting techniques for building muscle and mental fitness to see real results. Today Evennett is answering one of the most popular questions amongst fitness freaks: how do you get super human strength without weights.
View this post on Instagram
In the 10-minute video Evennett runs through exactly what you need to do with this five-step static exercise program based off the training routines of gymnasts. A word of warning – they’re no walk in the park and require multiple attempts to hit the right targets.
The Perfect Push Ups
Most people can do push ups but attempting a static one takes much more strength and stamina than you think.
- Push your feet as close as you can, tense your backside
- This will stabilise the hinge point at hips so your hips wont bend as you hold your upper body in position
- Squeeze and tense the body for sixty seconds and remember – not a hold, a squeeze
Reverse Over Or Reverse Push Up
Following the same principle as above but with the front of your body facing up, this static exercise will target the same results.
- Put your palms to the ground beside you, rest your heels on the ground and point toes down
- Push your front facing body into the air whilst squeezing your glutes (backside)
- Add tension in the position and hold for 60 seconds
- You might not reach 60 seconds but make that your target each time you fail until you get closer
The Straddle
- Place your feet apart, place your hands on the ground in front of you
- Rock forward and point toes down keeping your body in tension
- Hold this pose for as long as possible
Pelvic Twist
- Lie face down flat on the floor
- Place hands behind your head
- Point toes down with glutes squeezed, legs together and toes pointed down
- Lift your belly button vertically up but make sure you’re driving with your abdominal muscle to lift mid-section and not bending your back
- Hold position for 3 seconds, you’ll know you’re doing it right when your face goes red
Simulated Front Lever
- Lie flat on your back, hold your two fists tight together in front of you – this simulates the bar
- Tension your legs, lift and do a full body squeeze
The rundown of every move explained here is demonstrated in Evennett’s video. Once you nail these five static exercises, the retired commando says that you’ll achieve ‘super human strength’ which can transition into a multitude of exercises including sprints, jump ability, vertical squats and more.

Despite the global pandemic wreaking havoc on sport worldwide, some of the biggest names in football, basketball, tennis and boxing had some incredibly handsome paydays to finish 2021 and head into 2022.
The majority of the names on Forbes’ annual list of highest-paid athletes won’t come as a surprise (although, the notable absence of Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor could be a surprise to some) and the majority of the top 10 spots are claimed by soccer players and basketball players.
Argentinian striker Lionel Messi topped the list of highest-paid athletes with $130 million in pre-tax earnings in the calendar year prior to Forbes publishing its list. This is despite his annual salary reportedly dropping down by $22 million, to ‘just’ $75 million for his first year playing for Paris-Saint Germain. A vast chunk of Messi’s yearly earnings came from lucrative off-field sponsorships and endorsements. Forbes estimated Messi’s off-field earnings to be $55 million.
The top 10 highest earning athletes in 2022 earned a collective $992 million in pre-tax earnings, which Forbes notes is a 6% drop from the year before. Figures are calculated between 1 May 2021 and 1 May 2022.
The $992 million total is the third highest ever, and is only beaten by the $1.05 billion earned in 2021 and $1.06 billion in 2018. Both of these astronomical figures were influenced by Conor McGregor, who took home a massive payday in 2018 when he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr.
So, which 10 athletes made Forbes’ list? Read on to find out.
1. Lionel Messi – US$130 million

Lionel Messi topped the list as the world’s highest paid athlete in 2022 with a huge income of $130 million. $75 million of this came from his annual salary with French football club Paris-Saint Germain, while the remaining $55 million came from off-field sponsorship and endorsement deals. Messi currently has a lifetime partnership with sportswear giant Adidas, along with other longterm deals with Budweiser and PepsiCo.
He also became the face of Hard Rock International and signed a $20 million deal with Socios, a “fan engagement” app built on a blockchain.
Age: 35
Sport: Soccer
Nationality: Argentinian
2021 earnings: $130 million
2. LeBron James – US$121.2 million

Basketball superstar LeBron James has always been an athlete with enviable paydays, but 2021 saw his earnings and net worth skyrocket. His $41.2 million salary from the Los Angeles Lakers was just one third of his total 2021 income, with the other $80 million coming from off-field endeavours.
His appearance in the 2021 movie Space Jam: A New Legacy contributed to his immense payday, along with an endorsement deal he signed with Crypto.com.
Age: 37
Sport: Basketball
Nationality: American
2021 earnings: $121.2 million
3. Cristiano Ronaldo – US$115 million

Cristiano Ronaldo has been a regular fixture on Forbes’ annual highest-paid athletes lists. Not only does he command a high salary – an estimated $60 million in 2021 – but his global popularity means he can command high fees for endorsement deals.
Ronaldo has a lifetime endorsement deal with Nike, but also makes his money through other investments, including Tate restaurants and ZujuGP.
Age: 37
Sport: Soccer
Nationality: Portuguese
2021 earnings: $115 million
4. Neymar – US$95 million

Brazilian soccer player Neymar is another to feature regularly on the list of highest-earners and with $95 million in pre-tax earnings for the 2021-22 tax year, we reckon he’s feeling pretty happy.
The majority of Neymar’s earnings came from his Paris Saint-German contract, worth a reported $70 million. He added $25 million in off-field earnings to this, thanks to sponsorship deals with the likes of Red Bull, Puma and NFT platform NFTSTAR.
Age: 30
Sport: Soccer
Nationality: Brazilian
2021 earnings: $95 million
5. Stephen Curry – US$92.8 million

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry was the highest-earning NBA player in 2021 just in terms of annual salary. Taking home $45.8 million in annual earnings, Curry earned just under $5 million more from his contract than LeBron James. He’ll earn just under $60 million in the 2025-26 season.
Curry earned pretty much the same amount off money away from the court, with Forbes estimating his off-court earnings to be $47 million, which came from various endorsement deals with the likes of Under Armour, Comcast NBCUniversal and FTX metaverse.
Age: 34
Sport: Basketball
Nationality: American
6. Kevin Durant – US$92.1 million

Kevin Durant, power forward for the Brooklyn Nets earned a huge $50 million in off-court earnings in 2022, which he added to his $42.1 million salary.
$28 million of his off-court earnings comes from his sneaker deal with Nike, and the remainder comes from deals with CoinBase, NBA Top Shot and Weedmaps. Durant has also invested in various companies, including the NFT platform OpenSea and Future, a digital fitness startup.
Age: 34
Sport: Basketball
Nationality: American
7. Roger Federer – US$90.7 million

One of the greatest tennis players to have ever lived, Roger Federer continued to show just how much of a global presence he has in 2022, with off-field earnings of $90 million. His on-field earnings were reasonably low, at just $700,000, but this was mainly due a string of injuries that limited his playing time.
Federer officially retired from tennis following the conclusion of The Laver Cup, but given his insane popularity, we can be pretty sure his off-field earnings will continue to be huge. Some of Federer’s most lucrative deals are with Uniqlo and Rolex, and he also earns a pretty penny from his investment in shoe company, On.
Age: 41
Sport: Tennis
Nationality: Swiss
8. Canelo Alvarez – US$90 million

Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez was his sport’s highest earner in 2022, bringing home some $85 million. Outside of the ring, Alvarez has sponsorship deals with brandy producer Hennessy, and he also owns a taco restaurant in Mexico.
Age: 32
Sport: Boxing
Nationality: Mexican
9. Tom Brady – US$83.9 million

Tom Brady continues to dominate the list of highest-paid NFL stars, bringing in $31.9 million from his contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady made a U-turn on his decision to retire, just six weeks after he made the initial announcement.
Forbes estimates Brady’s off-field earnings in 2022 to be $52 million, which comes the NFT platform he co-founded, called Autograph; his TB12 sports supplement and clothing line; his 199 Productions production company and a second clothing line, called BRADY.
Tom has already agreed a deal with Fox Sports to join the team in a commentator role, which will earn him $375 million over 10 years.
Age: 45
Sport: American Football
Nationality: American
10. Giannis Antetokounmpo – US$80.9 million

The youngest entrant on the list of top 10 highest-paid athletes is the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannia Antetokounmpo. In December 2020, the now 27-year-old signed a five-year contract with the Bucks, worth a reported $228 million. This contract put $39.9 million into Giannis’ bank account, which he topped up with $41 million in off-court earnings.
Giannis has endorsement deals with WhatsApp and Google, for the company’s Pixel 6 phone, and he also signed a deal with NFT platform, NFTSTAR.

The submariner is casual enough for a coffee run, smart enough for a suit and rugged enough for a day at the beach.
Its versatility is seemingly boundless and this prompts the idea that it could be your one watch for all occasions. Since its inception in 1953, the Rolex Submariner has been the watch of choice for Sean Connery’s James Bond, Steve McQueen, Jason Statham and Tom Hardy, all of which are style icons in their own right. It was even used by the U.S Navy by clearance and saturation divers.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Whilst being a thing of beauty, the Submariner is capable and rugged, featuring a rotating bezel for timing dives, a 300m water resistance rating, automatic movement, glow in the dark lume for night visibility and steel construction. It’s this perfect combination of usability and rugged beauty that makes this piece iconic and timeless.
So, what’s the problem with this evidently brilliant watch? Even in its ‘cheapest’ guise, it will set you back $9,900…if you can get a hold of one. In reality, you’ll be looking at $12,000 minimum for a flashy new Rolex Submariner.
What is one to do if they want the look and feel of a Submariner, but don’t have or want to splash $9,900? Simple, get this Seiko 5 ‘Sea Urchin’ for $129.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”225734″ img_size=”medium” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”https://amzn.to/35nc6ud”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”225733″ img_size=”medium” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”https://amzn.to/35nc6ud”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Priced at only $129, the Seiko is terrific value, especially in comparison to the Submariner. It offers similar features, including a robust steel construction, a rotating bezel, glow in the dark lume and an automatic movement. Most importantly from an aesthetic perspective, the Seiko and Submariner both have black bezels and faces, ‘oyster’ style bracelets and similar lume designs. From a far, it really is pretty difficult to tell these two watches apart.
No matter how you look at the Seiko, it’s quite frankly a brilliant offering, especially for the low price and quality Japanese construction. So for those are are still a few pay checks away from a Submariner, this reliable look alike for a fraction of the price is your answer.
