It’s one thing to travel, but another to do it well. Those well versed in the art of travel know that there’s a multitude of small tricks that combined, make the travel experience much more efficient, comfortable and enjoyable.
One aspect that hasn’t yet been mastered is the art of travelling with chargers and tech. Yes, you probably have noise-cancelling headphones and maybe even a battery bank, but what do you do with all your tech stuff? Is it strewn across your bag in various pockets? Is it all tangled up in an old toiletries bag? You probably don’t have a perfect solution for this, but Bellroy does and it’s called the ‘Tech Kit’.
From the outside, the Tech Kit looks like a small toiletries bag. Open it up, however, and you’ll find the perfect place to store and organise any charger, adapter or cord you might find yourself needing. There is a place for everything, including chunkier items like power banks or portable hard drives (as well as smaller items like your aux to lightning adapter).
It isn’t naff looking either, available in either grey or black – and made from recycled nylon – it will look great with your Rimowa suitcase and leather duffel. All in all, the Tech Kit is the perfect way to protect and organise your gear all while looking sharp. Priced at $59, it’s an affordable way to help you master the fine art of travelling.

The stereotype is that Australia is a nation of surfers and billy boilers; tanned, adventurous, strong and in the moment. But since the introduction of Facebook in 2004, followed by the Apple iPhone in 2007 (and the explosion of smartphones, including the Google Pixel, that followed it), our insatiable need for instant access to social media has grown exponentially.
The upshot? We’re now more likely to be found perusing our crushes’ Instagram page than we are to be out and about living our ‘best lives.’Whether it be knowing what our friends and family are up to or to use it as a source of news and information, our necks are bending more and our thumbs are more susceptible to contracting RSI than ever before. And while Facebook and Twitter are partly to blame, it’s the inconceivable rise of Instagram that has caused us to spend more time on our phones than for what they were originally intended for.The ability to post photos and videos in just a matter of clicks, with added filters to make everyone think we’re professional photographers, has become addictive. Not to mention the rise of the Instagram influenza influencer, which has become a career option for many orange-skinned beautiful people. The platform boasts more than 1 billion monthly active users, with half of those accessing it on a daily basis. The software now installed on our phones can show us how much time we’re spending using apps and services. If you ever go digging to see what your daily and weekly habits are, we’re pretty sure they’ll look similar to ours.So far so normal – if only it stayed like this. Unfortunately, scrolling a little further down revealed, in one day, I spent two hours and seven minutes scrolling through Instagram, compared to just two minutes combined using the phone’s own phone and messaging apps.
The mobile phone was made so that we could keep in contact with others by way of talking, but now it seems we all want to be shielded behind a virtual representation of ourselves, available for the world to see.

We’re not alone in making fewer phone calls on a daily basis. In the UK, telecommunications regulator Ofcom found that a quarter of all mobile phone users (on Android) made less than five calls a month between January the 1st and March the 31st, 2019. Within that quarter, 60 percent ended their calls in 90 seconds or less.In Australia, from our personal observations, we’re much the same. In fact, half the time these days if you call me I am more likely to groan than to pick up the phone. Unless it’s work-related, ‘send me a DM or gtfo’ seems to be the standard Aussie guy’s response to a jingle on the blower. If we want to contact someone, we’re more likely to use a third-party app than the phone’s own built-in services. WhatsApp is the world’s most popular messaging platform, with some 65 billion messages being sent every day, although with ‘only’ 1 billion active users recorded each day, the astronomical figure is taking into account the number of messages being sent by one individual. Each year phone manufacturer’s release their latest models, with more camera megapixels, more power and in theory, longer battery life, all to help sustain our scrolling addiction. The phone function of our phones rarely receives any updates at all, it’s merely an afterthought. We may soon have to drop the ‘phone’ from smartphone to reflect the change in use.

The 1970s and 80s spawned a whole legion of now-iconic TV shows. Not only were they celebrated for their fashion, hairstyles, and soundtracks, but the cars that featured in many were just as much the star as the main actors. The latter is none more evident than in Magnum P.I.While we may have all initially been drawn to Tom Selleck’s ‘tache, it was his Ferrari 308 that often stole the limelight. And now you can own your own version to speed about solving cases as you please, with this example for sale on Carsales. This isn’t the exact car from the 80s detective show, as on sale here is the 308 GTB hard-top Berlinetta, whereas Tom Selleck drove the Targa-topped 308 GTS. The GTS was also the vehicle of choice for Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. in the 1981 movie Cannonball Run. Either way, you’re still getting a drop-dead gorgeous two-seater sports car with a 3.0L V8 engine and less than 50,000kms on the clock. You’re also getting, for your A$195,000, a European version, meaning you get the full 252hp output (American models were toned down a notch to 237hp). Only 2897 GTBs were ever made, so you’re 200k is also securing you a piece of history. This particular model is in immaculate condition both inside and out, including its Ferrari red paintwork and two-toned leather interior and all manuals and documentation are included as well. For a vintage Ferrari, we think it’s an absolute bargain.

What do you get when a 4×4 car manufacturer and a luxury Swiss watchmaker have a baby? It’s not a stylish and worldly infant, but it is one hell of a Land Rover inspired watch.
But first: context. In late 2016 Land Rover ended production of the much-loved Defender, a car that had been in production since 1983 and somehow didn’t change throughout its 33-year lifespan. It’s strange that something can remain the same for 33 years yet still remain relevant and popular, but somehow the Defender did (much like – we’re predicting – the Zenith watch it recently inspired will too).
And it’s not like the Defender is anywhere near the ‘perfect car’. Exposed hinges and handles, boxy, almost thoughtless styling is what makes one up. They’re also a pain to drive, featuring manual transmissions and mostly small diesel engines, not to mention their lack of noise insulation. To make things even worse, they’re uncomfortable and the only ‘tech’ they have is air conditioning and electric windows, neither of which work very well. Oh, and they are also prone to rust.
So it’s strange to think that this innately flawed vehicle managed to stick around for so long and you probably won’t believe me when I tell you people absolutely adore these cars. In fact, there is currently a 2015 model listed for sale in Australia for $129,000, which could also get you a Porsche 718 Cayman. So what’s to love about this borderline defective beast?
The answer is simple: its character. Even though it might be uncomfortable to drive, it’s somehow enjoyable and lovable. Kind of like your 14-year-old labrador that constantly smells like a bad fart: its flaws make it special – and real. Its design, whilst simple and boxy, has become iconic and stylish in a society that is obsessed with being futuristic. The Defender went against the grain. It’s this that makes it special. To celebrate this lifetime of bucking the trend, Zenith has introduced a limited edition Defy, just for the Defender.
Featuring a full matt grey paint job with orange accents, this limited edition is a far cry from other Defys with no frills or ‘luxuriousness’ in sight. Instead, it focuses on function over form. Whilst not pretty, the orange and grey contrast makes the watch easy to read and the Superluminova makes it highly legible at night. Again the option of either a rubber or fabric makes it look less like jewellery and more like a proper tool. Not only does it look like a ‘tool’ the chronograph function means you can actually use it as one.
Much like the Defender, the Defy’s titanium case incorporates straight edges with curves to connect them here and there. I’d like to tell you this watch is a direct parallel to the Defender, but it isn’t. Whilst they’re both handsome, the Zenith isn’t prioritising function over form quite like the Defender does, nonetheless, it’s a gorgeous watch that really is a great addition to any collection. Although, limited to 250 units and priced at 13,900 CHF you’ll be hard-pressed to see, let alone buy one.
Whether you’re a part of the Defender’s cult following or simply a watch aficionado, this limited edition Defy is a great watch and worthy of your hard-earned pennies. Above all else, it’s unique, it’s like no other Zenith and doesn’t conform to the formula used to make most luxurious watches, making it a rather special watch indeed. More so that it’s styling or features, I think it’s this willingness to go against the grain that makes this Defy like the Defender, a trait I, for one, would like to see more of.

Whether you embark on a mattress bouncing journey of ‘self discovery’ or whether you Marie Kondo your social feeds, we all have our own rituals when it comes to getting over a break up. However, there is a certain technique that (almost) never fails to make you feel better: finding someone new.Never mind that it will be a precipitated decision. Never mind that everyone will assume you’re on the rebound. Never mind that you will project all your baggage onto them.It will make your ex jealous.Oh, and it will get everyone talking about something other than your breakup – particularly useful when it stops the media going on about how your family hated your ex, how you got cruelly jilted over ‘self love and care’ and how your relationship was doomed from the start. To wit: The Daily Mail yesterday reported, “Liam Hemsworth has confirmed his romance with model Gabriella Brooks” – which makes a change from the hysterical headlines we are accustomed to seeing from the British tabloid.“The 30-year-old actor was spotted kissing the Australian model, 23, on the beach in Byron Bay earlier this month,” The Daily Mail wrote.
“After spending New Year’s Eve together, Liam and Gabriella couldn’t keep their hands off each other as they cuddled up on the sand.”
As US Weekly reports, Liam introduced Gabriella to his parents in Byron Bay over a family lunch in mid-December, and – according to their source – it went well: “Liam feels comfortable with Gabriella. His family approves of her and really likes her, which is very important to him.”

As London dating coach Hayley Quinn recently told us, while dating soon after a break up can make you miss your ex more, it can also give you newfound confidence that will make your ex see you in a different light.
“Ironically, if anything, it’s this newfound confidence that will change your ex’s mind. However hopefully, by that time, you’re going to be focused on the future.”
Liam announced his split from wife Miley Cyrus in August 2019, while Gabriella ended her four-year relationship with The 1975 singer, Matt Healy in April.Although even the internet sleuths over at The Daily Mail were unable to find how Liam and Gabriella started going out (“it is unclear how Liam and Gabriella met or when they started dating”), the brunette, who is from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, posted a photo of a beach to Instagram on the 1st of December 2019, which she cryptically captioned with a heart.
Around the same time, The Daily Mail reports, “Liam returned to Byron Bay after wrapping up filming of his latest project, Dodge and Miles, in Toronto.”We’ll leave the rest to your imagination.

Enigmatic hip-hop artist ASAP Rocky has come a long way since his younger days. Spent moving between homeless shelters and selling crack cocaine in the Bronx, Rakim Mayers seemingly had the odds stacked against him during his formative years.Fate, however, was not going to allow him to fall wayward and he began to take rapping more seriously after his brother’s death. By 2007 Mayers joined the Harlem-based A$AP Mob, a collective of rappers who shared the same interests in music, fashion, style, and art.Since then Mayers has received an accolade of awards for his solo work and continues to change the landscape of modern hip hop.And his style? That’s what we’re here to talk about. Often seen floating around fashion shows, Mayers is no stranger to winning looks. Today he runs his own clothing label and has collaborated with designers like Raf Simons. It’s due time we showed you how to get ASAP Rocky’s style.
Breaking It Down
ASAP Rocky is not an easy man to put your finger on when it comes to style. Often unpredictable, his style is known to be original, complex and multi-layered to achieve both an eccentric and clean look. One could even argue that he has defined the look of the modern hip-hop artists. With that said, Rocky’s favourite pieces range from slick varsity jackets to linen suits to finely cut designer coats. Each look is unique and each look is worn perfectly by the man no matter what season it is. The most obviously lacking garment you’ll find on Mayers wardrobe is baggy clothing. It’s a rather tired and ’90s hip-hop look which he tends to avoid.
Become A Suit Shifter
A$AP and conventional suits are a dime a dozen. There are certainly elements of it there but Mayers takes pride in modifying the look to his own tastes. As such, you’ll find A$AP at formal events rocking a black suit sans tie, with badges and other accessories adorning the lapel. It’s not conventional but for an artist of Mayer’s calibre, it simply works and looks fresh without being gaudy.Moving down the suit ladder you’ll also find him rocking pieces like double-breasted linen suits, offset by a scoop neck white tee and an intricately patterned scarf. This drags Miami Vice out of the ’80s and straight into the present day and is a winning look for the rap star.Moving along we have the black and white ensemble which comes in the form of a three-piece featuring a blazer coat, a matching black vest and super skinny chinos in black. Topped off with black dress shoes with contrast colour soles and you have a winner on your hands.Head on over to Dior to score yourself an ASAP Rocky approved suit.
Master The Art Of Wearing White
Off duty ASAP Rocky is all about the clean streetwear and whiteout look favoured by many hip-hop artists. For Mayers, longline shirts with grandad collars paired with white sneakers, white suits paired with black shirts and athleisure gear decked out in white is the go-to look. It’s not easy to pull off as an everyday look due to the upkeep required but it works to keep you well ahead of the competition in the style stakes. Venture here if you have the balls. And a very talented dry cleaner.
Invest In Coats For Every Season
Mayers uses the traditional coat as his playground, often implementing many elaborate and bold styles into his look. Clean styling is a requisite to ensure these pieces are done justice and Mayers pulls this off with ease.Keep the undergarments here neutral and the coats will pop as intended. To give the look more depth during the colder months, add a blazer under the coat. It’s an easy Winter win anyone can pull off. Slim-fit pants? mandatory.Hit up Todd Snyder or Burberry for some big coat energy.
Become A Leather Jacket Specialist
The classic leather look doesn’t escape ASAP Rocky either. This is his edgier look and is often complemented with monochrome hues such as black and white. The key here is to keep it consistent and simple.Black boots in leather or suede must go with black slim-fit denim. White dress shirts or tees must accompany the style of the black leather jacket. To give the look a bit more attitude, don’t be afraid to do what Mayers has done here by adding men’s jewellery such as gold chains. A hip-hop star who can pull off the seasoned rock star? Now you’re talking. When it comes to leather jackets, you can’t beat Saint Laurent.
Embrace Big Colours
Not all heroes wear capes but most of them wear colour. A$AP Rocky is one such hero. Never afraid to mix monochrome with big colour, he’s become the master of wearing bold hues. Whether it’s prints or block colours, you want to invest in key items that really pop. Bright coats, shirts and sweatshirts are paired with denim (white or black).
Where To Shop
If you want to scoop some of A$AP Rocky’s best looks head over to SSENSE, Farfetch or END to get your luxury and streetwear fix.Scroll on for 50 of A$AP Rockey’s best fits.

If there is one trend that thrived in 2019, that’s going even stronger in 2020, it’s sneakers. 2019 proved they’re the shoe that can do anything; appropriate for the office, exercise and everything in between. Nowadays instead of having a collection of different types of shoes for different occasions, you can now get away with a few quality sneakers that will have you covered for almost every event you’ll encounter this year.
2019 saw an array of sneaker trends. From chunky dad sneakers to 3D printed performance shoes, there was a broad spectrum of styles that gained popularity. If you’re like us and tend to avoid the trends, there are three timeless styles that look great today and will keep you at the forefront of fresh for the remainder of the year. Below are the three sneakers we believe are the most worthy of your hard-earned pennies.

Qantas has decided to divert around Iran and Iraq after a Ukranian passenger jet was shot down last week, killing all 176 passengers. The missile appears to have been fired as part of military escalation in the region, and – although the Iranian government denies it – the jet seems to have been caught in the crossfire.
As reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, “The United States and its allies on Friday said they had intelligence that Iranian milliary forces shot down a Ukrainian International Airlines jet bound for Kiev shortly after it taking off from Tehran on Wednesday.”
In response, Qantas released the following statement, announcing a change to its Perth to London route: “Qantas advises that it is adjusting its flight paths over the Middle East to avoid the airspace over Iraq and Iran until further notice.”
“Flight QF9 (Perth-London) and QF10 (London-Perth) are the only Qantas flights affected by this change.”
“The altered flight path increases flying time by about 40-50 minutes on QF9. As a result, we will need to reduce the numbers passengers on board in order to carry more fuel.”
“Despite the altered route, QF10 will operate with a full passenger load and the same flight time due to prevailing winds,” Qantas added.
“Qantas’s other flights to and from London (QF1/2) are unaffected as they operate through an alternative flight path.”
Singapore Airlines has similarly re-routed all flights to avoid Iranian airspace (their decision was made on January the 6th), and it has not flown over Iraq since 2012.
Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways flights connecting from Australia to Europe via their Gulf hubs, however, were continuing to pass over Iraq, according to Flightradar24.
This is interesting as Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways are all in the same ballpark as Qantas when it comes to the price of flying to Europe for Australians. And yet the stereotype is – as long as you eschew budget airlines like
Malaysia Airlines (whose Flight 17 was flying at 33,000 feet above Ukraine when it was shot down by Russian-backed separatists in 2014) – you’ve done all you can in terms of booking a safe flight.
Australian carrier Qantas, Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines among those altering their flight routes to avoid Iranian airspace. https://t.co/KNsYj37dl2
— Sumisha Naidu (@sumishanaidu) January 8, 2020
And yet, this time around, Malaysia Airlines was one of the first carriers to play it safe, with Al Jazeera reporting, “Following Wednesday’s early morning missile strike, British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Germany’s Lufthansa and Air France-KLM were among airlines charting new routes to go around Iraq and Iran.”
This has implications for Qantas as it helps them differentiate themselves from the pack when it comes to safety. Although, that said, it must be acknowledged that it is much easier for Qantas to make this change than the Middle Eastern carriers who – naturally – have their hubs in the Middle East.
