Porsche Finally Have A Name For Their Tesla Killer
Porsche Finally Have A Name For Their Tesla Killer

Taycan. That’s the name Porsche have officially given to their upcoming all-electric vehicle which will be the Stuttgart automaker’s first in its history.

The concept version previously wore the Mission E moniker until the latest news arrived on the weekend of Porsche’s 70th anniversary.

Two models currently sit in the Mission E portfolio with the first having debuted in 2015 as the Mission E concept (a more traditional sports coupe body) followed by the Mission E Cross Turismo that debuted this year as an electric soft-roader.

Whilst Porsche didn’t say which of the two would be named Taycan, it’s safe to assume (see below) that the sports car model will receive the name as it’s slated to begin production next year.

The production model Taycan will feature twin electric motors at the front and rear to deliver a combined 440kW to all four wheels. That’s good enough to see it from 0 – 100km/h in under 3.5 seconds whilst providing a range tipped to be over 500km. Porsche also haven’t ruled out selling an entry-level rear-wheel-drive variant later on down the track.

For those curious, Taycan means “lively young horse” in the Eurasian tongue. Let’s just hope this horse is packing some serious Duracells when it finally hits the streets.

Why More Men Should Practice Yoga, According To A Former Professional Athlete
Why More Men Should Practice Yoga, According To A Former Professional Athlete

While male yogis stretch their bodies, their friends often stretch the truth.

But as they call you a hipster for sitting down with a bunch of middle-aged women to do a bunch of exercises you could do for free at home, little do they realise your class actually contains a bunch of hard-core blokes—and (unless it’s pilates) those ‘middle-aged women’ are probably mentally tougher than you are.

And that’s not the only obstacle stopping guys from doing yoga. Ben Lucas, an ex NRL player for the Cronulla Sharks (now a PT and fitness industry guru), says he didn’t start yoga earlier because he didn’t think he was flexible enough. “Also, I couldn’t fathom fitting it into my already busy schedule when I could be doing something else instead.”

It took him a lot to get started, “But once I did I never looked back.” And what got him over the line?

“I started doing yoga because I was preparing for an ultra endurance run and I was really tight, sore and struggling to recover. I found that regular practice of yoga ultimately improved my range of motion and performance in the running area. Yoga is for everyone no matter your age or fitness level, I truly believe that.”

According to Ben, one of the biggest misconceptions is that the yoga studio is a “women’s space”. This is why men often (initially) feel out of place and uncomfortable.

“Some men also associate yoga with not being masculine and are hesitant to give it a try.”

However, as he points out, yoga is a disciplined practice that has many benefits towards your recovery, “Therefore it allows you to maximise your next workout.” It is also included in a lot of athletes’ programs these days; from swimmers to golfers, and it is being used a lot in the corporate space as well.

For guys who reckon it’s too chilled to provide a proper cardio workout, Ben recommends trying advanced routine levels of the vinyasa or flow style practises. You can also do, “Modified versions of a particular pose to challenge yourself and current fitness level.”

“Try variations that use certain props like straps or blocks to activate new muscles. Lastly, don’t forget to ask your yoga instructor for some tips and tricks on how to improve your overall practice.”

And anyone that’s tried Bikram—a variation of yoga conducted in 33 degree heat—knows that a head-spin inducing cardio-workout (and heatstroke) is possible. So there you have it: there’s more to yoga than meditation, and those so-called ‘Beta males’ are probably scoring more dates than the gym-junkies.

If that still sounds lame; check out yoga, ‘for guys who love to drink, swear and sweat’. It’s all the rage.

Channing Tatum Knows The Secret To Wearing Green For Any Occasion
Channing Tatum Knows The Secret To Wearing Green For Any Occasion

Green, the colour that’s perennially overlooked in place of staple hues like navy and grey. Well not any more. Channing Tatum showed men how to take green from casual wear to evening wear in London earlier this week when he stepped out for the Magic Mike Live stage show premiere. The newly single dad looked the part in a very cool green number comprising of light olive green trousers and an olive Hawaiian shirt with contrasting leaf print. The simple outfit was polished off with a skinny belt and dark brown derby shoes ripe for day time duties in the norther summer.Come evening, Tatum opted for a dark charcoal suit paired with a dark green paisley button-up. No tie was necessary here but there was a classic pair of black dress shoes which helped mute the outfit enough to let the paisley shirt do all the talking. A black dialled timepiece would have added some Kingsman detail to the suit but it’s not entirely mandatory. We’re just glad to see that this single father is living his best life without the help of two-week-old sweatpants and beer stained singlets.

Virgil Abloh's Suit At The CFDA Fashion Awards Was A Bit…Off
Virgil Abloh's Suit At The CFDA Fashion Awards Was A Bit…Off

He’s the fashion world’s man of the moment but it would seem that the newly crowned creative head of Louis Vuitton and Off-White founder still needs a bit of help in the suiting department.Virgil Abloh showed up to the recent CFDA Fashion Awards in New York in a ‘suit’ look that was ambiguous to say the least.Overlooking the lack of detail in the black suit itself, the main culprit here is the tie dye tee, a term that is rarely uttered in contemporary menswear let alone on the red carpet. The odd suit is further paired with trousers featuring unflattering zip openings to (poorly) accentuate his latest Off-White Air Jordans. The only thought that comes to our mind? A serious clusterf*ck of ‘what the hell is going on here?’We don’t doubt the Abloh’s talent to create hype from contemporary streetwear and design but when his own suit game is this off, it just needs to be called out.Surely raiding the Louis Vuitton suiting department isn’t an issue these days…but we digress.Rule 1: Don’t wear tie dye tees with your suit unless you’re a HANSON memberRule 2: Don’t rock open zipper trousers with your suitRule 3: If you’re going to wear hype sneakers with your suit, keep everything else muted so you don’t look tacky – they should be the centrepiece of the look, not fighting for attention with your shirtWe’ve included an example of how to dress well at the same CFDA Fashion Awards complements of Lewis Hamilton in burgundy.

TAG Heuer ambassador was in attendance to auction a one-of-a-kind Chris Hemsworth TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre Heuer 02.

Whilst other guests got glammed up, Chris kept things very casual in black denim, white t-shirt and black blazer combo. Paired with black boots and silver jewellery. God bless Australia and our casual beach vibes.

The Low Cost Airlines To Fly Business Class To Europe From Australia
The Low Cost Airlines To Fly Business Class To Europe From Australia

Yes: business class is a luxury. Superfluous. Comfortable. First-world indulgence. The only way to travel. Call it what you will; tapping into the lower end of the business class market provides value for money. For veterans and newbies alike—this article is a must read, as these 5 airlines will introduce you to a world of luxury you didn’t know you could afford.

Malaysia Airlines

Seat

On its most recent layout, Malaysia Airlines’ business class seats alternate between a 1-2-1 and 1-2-2 configuration, giving almost everyone direct access to the aisle. More importantly, unlike the older Malaysia Airlines’ Airbus business class seats, each extends into a 52.3cm wide, 193cm long fully-flat, not ‘angled-flat’ (as it used to be) bed.

The seats have controls on the side panel for lumbar support, leg-rest adjustment, mood lighting and an in-chair massage: another welcome new introduction. The only disappointment for seasoned business travellers is, unlike many other Airlines’ business experiences, at Malaysia Airlines you don’t get offered pyjamas.

Food & Drink

The flight begins with a selection of juices pre-take-off, progressing to a full bar after wheels-up, including a strong Aussie wine menu of Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Breakfast is fresh fruit, yoghurt, and a bread basket including warmed croissants with jam.

Lunch and Dinner is a choice between dishes like marinated chicken breast, seafood red curry and calamarata—but if you plan ahead, the Chef On Call service lets you pre-select from an additional 17 dishes. Dessert is a whole other kettle of candy; the choice between ice cream or a decadent dark-chocolate cake with cherry compote, strawberry and vanilla sauce.

Lounge

In Sydney, Malaysia Airline business customers have the choice of using either the Qantas or Emirates lounge. In Kuala Lumpur you will find Malaysia Airlines’ flagship Satellite Golden Lounge, which features an array of food (buffet and made to order), a sports bar, dining tables, couches, power-points, a workspace, wi-fi, kids entertainment options and newspapers.

Aircraft

From Sydney (or Melbourne) to Kuala Lumpur you’ll be on an Airbus A330-300, and from KL to London Heathrow you’ll be on a A380-800—a larger, (allegedly) quieter aircraft (although it takes slightly longer to board than the smaller A30-300).

Safety Rating:

6/7

Price

$6,000 for a return Sydney-London flight (depending on day, availability, time of year etc.).

Alliance

Oneworld

China Airlines

Seat

China Airlines’ business class has really improved in recent years. Just like Malaysia Airlines, the main way they have upped their game is by replacing ‘sloping sleepers’ with fully-flat beds. When flying over mainland China you won’t be able to use mobile phones, even in airplane mode, due to a security policy. Seat configuration will depend on which aircraft you fly on (see Aircraft section).

Food & Drink

With a quality French wine list and comprehensive inflight dining menus, you will be treated to an eclectic mix of both Chinese foods and distinctive culinary specialties from around the world. Also: the menu is changed on a regular basis to meet the expectations of those who travel frequently.

Lounge

China Airlines’ Taipei lounge’s interior entrance features large stones and dimmed lighting, whilst the artwork and artifacts of Taiwan’s history on display demonstrate the designers desire to integrate elements of Taiwanese culture into the lounge. In terms of food, there are both oriental and western options including pastries, desserts, a full, self-serve liquor bar. Facilities include shower rooms, a sleeping room, a nursing room, a locker area and reading materials.

Aircraft

Airbus A350 (1-2-1 configuration), Airbus A330-200 (2-2-2 configuration) or Boeing 777-300/300ER’s (1-2-1 configuration).

China Eastern

Seat

190cm long and 60cm wide, China Eastern’s Boeing 777-300ER’s seats can accommodate the longest legs and fattest beer-guts. The electrically-powered seat folds down to make a hugely comfortable lie-flat bed. Storage in the overhead bins is ample and you get both pyjamas and slippers, plus Clarins amenities with a dental kit, eye mask, ear plugs, moisturiser and lip balm. Not bad at all. Oh and the 41cm video touch-screen comes with ~quality~ headphones and there’s a USB port as well as an in-seat power point, plus a reading light.

Food & Drink

The business class menu contains a selection of premium red and white wines, while meals are created by an international panel of chefs. The airline aims to offer gourmet cuisine from around the world.

Lounge

China Eastern passengers have access to the Qantas lounge in Sydney, and ‘Skyteam’ lounges in PVG and SHA, which boast a wide array of amenities, including an open buffet, complimentary Wi-Fi, and shower facilities.

Boeing 777-300/300ER (1-2-1 configuration), Airbus A330 (2-2-2 configuration).

China Eastern Airlines offers a limousine service to business class passengers at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Shanghai and Beijing (limited to MU728/MU712 direct service).

Garuda Indonesia

Seat

The new Garuda Indonesia Boeing 777-300ER has 26 staggered, spacious and ergonomic seats, providing each guest with direct aisle access. The seats are at a 43″ pitch & 21.2″ wide, reclining into a flat bed, making your trip that bit more comfortable. Extra features include an ottoman, personal storage, USB & power outlet and a 15″ touchscreen LCD with an innovative eX2 Panasonic inflight entertainment system.

Food & Drink

Indulge in world’s favourite menus, served by the energetic cabin crew.
If you fancy a snack there’s also the lighter menu, all prepared by qualified chefs from 5 star establishments.

Lounge

Garuda business passengers have access to the Skyteam lounge, by all means a decent place to rest and relax, but if the reviews are anything to go by: it’s definitely not the best business class lounge in Asia. Common complaints seem to be lack of air-con and underwhelming cuisine.

Aircraft

From Sydney to Denpasar airport you will take the Airbus A30-300, from Denpasar to Jakarta the Boeing 777-300, from there to London the Boeing 777-200/300.
