Football (soccer) players need to be exceptionally fit, this much we can agree on. But you may be surprised to learn just how fit Liverpool FC’s oldest player, James Milner, actually is.
James Milner, Liverpool FC’s current oldest player at 36-years-old, is one incredibly fit human being. Keeping up with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimović – and outclassing his teammate Mohamed Salah in the fitness stakes – the Liverpool midfielder and full-back is a fine example showing how older age and peak-level fitness can go hand-in-hand.
But what exactly does it take to maintain such a high level of fitness? Well, an awful lot, let us tell you that for free. Fortunately, James’ workouts are well documented, so if you wanted to see how your fitness levels compare with that of Milner’s, we dare you to try.
Take this short clip of a leg workout James posted to his Instagram account towards the end of 2021.
It shows James performing a Bulgarian split squat, widely regarded as one of the most hated leg exercises in existence, followed by single-leg Romanian deadlifts using two heavyweight kettlebells as opposed to a barbell.
James performs both with impeccable form, and in case yours are struggling or you’ve never tried them before, be sure to check out our guides for how to perform a Bulgarian split squat and Romanian deadlifts.
Whether he’s putting his body through pre-season training or maintaining his physique (he has been known to have a body fat percentage as low as 8 percent, according to former Manchester City sports therapist, Paul Webster) James Milner conducts a variety of training, including cardio and strength.
He also, according to the Liverpool Echo (via The Sun) continues to best his teammates in a lactate test. The Liverpool Echo says, “This notorious programme measures the player’s aerobic endurance as participants are asked to run a series of increasing distances at great speeds.”
“At the end of each checkpoint a sample of blood is taken from each player’s ear to measure their lactic acid level. If the level is too high, they must drop out until there is only one player left.”
And James Milner wins it every single year, “The Anfield elder statesman is seemingly untouchable when it comes to the lactate test, finishing top of the pile every season that he has been at the club,” according to the Liverpool Echo.
Paul Webster, speaking to Goal, explains part of the reason James Milner is able to remain so fit, is because of his attitude to life away from the gym and the training pitch. “It’s everything: drinking, James doesn’t touch alcohol; food, he’s meticulous with how much he eats; his timekeeping is perfect; he has goals – he wants to be fitter and stronger as months go by; his general behaviour and his internal discipline,” he relates.
More recent images posted to Instagram by James show him training with his Liverpool FC teammates during pre-season training in July 2022.
Smiling from ear-to-ear in each image, James continues to indicate how unfazed he is by the training regime being asked of him, due to his strength.
If you’re running low of inspirational fitness figures, James Milner is a dark horse you need to add to your list.

Jason Alexander, best known for playing George Constanza on the iconic sitcom Seinfeld, has revealed that he initially auditioned for the character with a Woody Allen impression.
Most die-hard fans of Seinfeld know that the beloved character George Constanza, played by Jason Alexander, is loosely based on the show’s head writer and showrunner, Larry David. But Alexander himself had no idea until around the end of Season 1/the beginning of Season 2.
An old clip of Alexander on The Howard Stern Show has recently resurfaced online and Alexander recalls how he leant that Geroge was actually a fictionalised version of David.
“Well, we ran into an early episode where nothing made sense to me; the situation seemed ludicrous… I wish I could remember the episode because it was in the first eight, nine, ten of them but I remember we did the table read and I went to Larry [David] and said, ‘Larry, please help me. This would never happen to anybody. But if it did, no one on the planet would react like this’.”
Jason Alexander
“And he said, ‘Oh, what are you talking about? This happened to me, that’s exactly what I did!’ And I went, ‘Oh!’ and then the bells went off. I’m like, ‘Oh, oh, okay’ and then I just started really observing him and trying to pull as much of him into me as I could.”
WATCH: Jason Alexander talks about ‘Seinfeld’ and how he auditioned for George…
As Alexander didn’t know George was essentially David, when he first auditioned for the Seinfeld character, rather than impersonating David, he decided to mimic someone else entirely: Woody Allen.
“All I had was a couple of pages of the script, which read like a Woody Allen film. I had no context for it, so hence, I did the glasses and I did, you know, a blatant, as blatant a Woody Allen as I could do.”
Jason Alexander
Alexander also talked about with Howard Stern how various other actors were considered for, and even offered, the role of George before he was. For instance, Larry Miller, Brad Hall, David Allen Greer, Nathan Lane, Steve Buscemi, Paul Shaffer, Danny DeVito and Chris Rock were reportedly all considered for George.
Thankfully, David, Jerry Seinfeld and NBC obviously liked the Woody Allen impression as Alexander was cast as George – and it’s seriously unimaginable to think of anyone other than Alexander playing good ol’ Biff, T-Bone, KoKo AKA George Constanza: Lord of the Idiots.

Airlines are flying passengers ever longer distances across the world, touting benefits in efficiency, stopover stress (or rather, the lack of it) and saving time. But what do ultra long haul flights do to your body?
Long haul flights are brilliant but evil. If you are stuck in cattle class, like the bulk of us, you’ll know the experience is all elbows, knees, spilt food; sore neck. Not to mention stiff legs. Oh, and did we mention the sense of helplessness you get when you wake up from a nap, thinking you’re nearly there, only to realise you’re barely halfway? Yeah, that one’s a doozy…
Flying 14-15 hours to Dubai or Doha used to be the longest flight most of us would take from Australia (without a stopover). But now there are non-stop routes from Perth to London (and Peth to Rome), in the 16-18 hour range. There are also flights of a similar length to Dallas from Sydney. On top of that, Qantas plans to eventually operate even longer flights, such as from Sydney to London and Sydney to New York flights. These flights, part of Project Sunrise, will be in the 19-20 hour range.
Ultra long haul flights are considered flights of 16 hours or longer. So the flights mentioned above are well and truly ‘ultra long haul.’ But what do they do to your body? DMARGE did a little digging; here’s what we found.
The first risk of a poorly managed ultra long haul flight is dehydration. This is because cabins are dry environments, usually less than 20%, a figure which puts them at a similar humidity (not heat, thank god) to the Mojave Desert in California, or the Australian Outback. This dry air, with the reduced levels of oxygen you normally get on a flight, are prime conditions for dehydration – especially when you’re smashing coffees, teas and beers.
As one physio told Marie Claire, during a 10-hour flight, the average woman could lose 1.6 liters of water, with men losing about 25% more. Though you are very unlikely to die from dehydration on a flight, these conditions make you a ripe target for irritability and tiredness, and also makes you more liable to pick up a bacterial or viral infection, because your mucous membranes are drier than usual.

After dehydration, there are a number of other ways an ultra long haul flight might impact your health. One of them is hypoxia. Though hypoxia does not have a noticeable impact on a healthy person at the sort of altitudes commercial flights fly at, those with underlying medical issues like arterial or lung disease may experience an impact on their respiratory function when flying ultra-long haul.
On top of that, as Gordon Cable, head of aerospace medicine training for the Royal Australian Airforce, told the AFR for an article earlier this month: “Anaemia or low iron can mean the blood cells aren’t transporting oxygen well enough and symptoms of mild hypoxia may become noticeable, making the person a little tired, short of breath with a headache or brain fog.”
“Mild hypoxia also affects the architecture of sleep, impacts the taste of food and exaggerates the effects of alcohol. This is another good reason to limit alcohol, apart from its associated immobilisation and DVT risks.”
Gordon Cable
Speaking of DVT, deep vein thrombosis is yet another challenge ultra long haul flights pose to your body. Though, for most people, the risk of DVT is very low, the longer you fly for, and the longer you stay immobilised, the greater your chances of it happening. DVT is a blood clot that happens in a deep vein, often in the leg.
Being overweight, having a family history of DVT, having recently been pregnant, taking the oral contraceptive pill, or having spent a lot of time on bed rest (as well as certain other factors) can increase your risk of DVT. In order to reduce your risk of DVT, experts recommend taking regular walks around the cabin (once every two hours), lifting your feet up to make circles, and wearing compression stockings.

Other ways in which Very Long Flights impact your body include your sense of taste being diminished, your skin getting dry and your stomach getting gassy. Some also warn you are exposed to radiation (from space) when you fly. Though this is true, unless you are a pregnant flight attendant (in which case, Quartz suggests, you might want to schedule-switch to avoid ultra long haul flights) you should be fine.
As Quartz reports: “For most occasional passengers, it’s not really a consideration. Pilots and crew members, however, are exposed to so much radiation that they’re officially considered radiation workers by the US Centers for Disease Control, with the largest average annual effective dose of all American radiation-exposed workers.”

Quartz adds: “One domestic US coast-to-coast flight exposes each passenger to about 0.035 mSv (3.5 mrem) of cosmic radiation, or less than a single chest x-ray—so, unless you’re flying almost every day, it isn’t really worth worrying about.”
All in all, ultra long haul flights are a bit worse, but not that much worse than the long haul flights we are already used to. It’s also worth noting that airlines like Qantas have done a lot of research into the impacts of ultra long haul flights on passengers’ wellness, and are providing ways to mitigate the effects, with features like well-being zones where you can go to stretch, move and hydrate. Qantas also provided passengers with tips on things like jetlag and on how best to look after themselves during the flight, on the test Project Sunrise flights they have done.
Qantas also draws on research into the mitigation of jetlag and the maximisation of passenger well-being when it comes to how they design (and time) their lighting, heating, meal times and water bottle hand out times on ultra long haul flights. So if you weigh it all up, and are already a reasonably healthy person, skipping that stopover could certainly be worth it, if you value convenience and time-saving.
Ultimately, though, it’s your choice. And you can always have a crack at these CIA-approved jetlag avoiding tips if you still feel foggy…

The following article was produced in partnership with Montblanc.

Montblanc is one of the world’s most interesting luxury houses, simply because it’s got so much range. Sure, they’re famous for their writing instruments, but they also make amazing watches, accessories, leather goods and, crucially, fragrances.
Indeed, Montblanc has carved out a reputation for making some of the most dynamic and distinctive fragrances on the planet. From the spicy and stylish Emblem to the crisp and refreshing Explorer Ultra Blue, Montblanc’s got one hell of a range. But Montblanc’s most recognisable and popular cologne is Montblanc Legend. A herbaceous fougère scent, Legend is a must-have for men about town.
Now, in 2022, Montblanc has built upon the Legend’s – well, legend – with Montblanc Legend Red: a bold, exciting new take on the iconic fragrance that’s perfect for thrill-seekers and men of action.
Crafted by expert perfumers Anne Flipo and Nicolas Beaulieu, Montblanc Legend Red immediately hits you with the juicy freshness of blood orange and grapefruit, contrasted with cardamon. Aromatic hits of juniper berry, clary sage and cedarwood mingle, and then give way to boozy, woody notes from cedarwood and tonka beans. It then evolves further with an amber and mahogany drydown.
All in all, it’s a complex, invigorating, masculine yet highly approachable fragrance. It makes you feel like you’re going fast – a characterisation that’s only boosted by the eye-catching Ferrari red of its sleek bottle.
Indeed, the bottle’s one of the best parts of the fragrance. Inspired by the design of the legendary “Rouge et Noir” fountain pen, one of Montblanc’s earliest writing innovations from 1906, it’s a real objet d’art that you’d be proud to have on your dressing table.
Another selling point of Montblanc Legend Red is that its ingredients are sourced from LMR, a company that works with local producers around the world to source pure, natural and sustainable ingredients with a strict ethos of complete transparency, and supporting environmental management, sustainable development and local communities.
In short, it’s an exotic fragrance, but not one that’s bad for the planet. In addition, Montblanc Legend Red itself does not contain ingredients of animal origin and is formulated with naturally derived alcohol.
It’s the ideal fragrance for men looking for something different to add to their repertoire, as well as being a youthful, versatile scent perfect for the bloke who’s looking to dip their toes into proper colognes for the first time – and doesn’t want to smell like every other Joe Blow.
It can often be quite intimidating either picking your first or choosing your next cologne, as Simon Clark – British model, motorcycle enthusiast and Montblanc ambassador – shared with DMARGE.
“What advice would I give to men who are choosing a fragrance for the first time? I’ve been that guy. At the time, there was some heavy stereotyping about the type of man who wore aftershave: think Teddy Pendergrass playing on the stereo and some overbearing character reeking of a heavy, clawing scent. Things have changed.”
“Montblanc Legend Red has a natural fragrance that becomes part of your daily routine. I’m a massive convert. The smell of Montblanc Legend Red has become my signature and I wouldn’t recognize myself without it!”
Simon Clark
And that’s what you really want from a fragrance – for it to become your signature. You want people to recognise it, enjoy it, and compliment you on it. Nothing feels better than getting complimented on how you smell.
That’s why Montblanc Legend Red is so genius. Fruity and fun yet masculine and dapper, it’s sure to get you plenty of praise no matter where you go. Whether you’re looking for a new fragrance that’ll be a sure-fire hit, a stylish gift for the man in your life or you want to start your cologne journey right with something proper, Montblanc Legend Red is just the thing.

According to new research, piracy and illegally downloading films/tv shows rose 16% in 2021. We believe streaming services are to blame for this rise.
Anyone who was around in the early 2000s will starkly remember that aggressive ‘Piracy. It’s A Crime’ ad that played in cinemas, on DVDs and even on free-to-air television. You know the one; ‘You wouldn’t steal a car… Piracy IS stealing. STEALING. IS AGAINST. THE LAW!’
And yet, most of us have illegally downloaded a TV show or movie, at least once. Although to any law authorities potentially reading this article, I’ve never done it and I’ve never even heard of The Pirate Bay…
Piracy and illegal downloads were thought to be a thing of the past in Australia when the streaming platforms, Netflix Australia and Stan came along back in 2015. I know a, uh, *friend* of mine who was regularly downloading shows and movies illegally, but stopped completely once they got Netflix and Stan.
However, a report recently published by Akamai found that in 2021 piracy rates in Australia increased by 16%; meaning illegal downloads are on the rise again. And while streaming services were responsible for piracy rates drastically falling in 2015-2016, it’s likely they are now responsible for the piracy resurgence.
WATCH: In case, you’ve never seen the infamous anti-piracy ad…
Why? Well, nowadays there are literally hundreds of streaming services available. In addition to Netflix and Stan, there’s also Binge, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, Paramount Plus, AMC+, Hayu, Kayo… just to name a few. And each of these platforms provides access to different content.
Meaning if you want access to all the latest shows/films as well as all the classics, you’ll need to subscribe to multiple platforms; which adds up, as every platform charges a monthly fee. Plus, many franchises are not available in their entireties on one single streaming platform; again meaning you’ll need to fork out a bunch of cash to get all the platforms you’ll need to watch franchises from beginning to end.
For instance, if you’re wanting to watch the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), you’d need to subscribe to Disney+ (as they provide exclusive access to the majority of the MCU films and to all of the MCU television shows). But you’d also have to subscribe to either Binge or Stan, as Disney+ doesn’t have the second MCU film The Incredible Hulk (but Binge and Stan do), and Netflix, as Disney+ doesn’t have the twenty-third MCU film Spider-Man: Far From Home (but Netflix does).

Therefore, to watch the MCU in its entirety on streaming platforms would cost a minimum total of $32.98 per month (we’ve used the cheapest subscription tier for each platform to calculate this cost), which works out to be just under $400 for a whole year.
It’s honestly getting out of hand. Especially as the simple solution many came up with – each friend in the group pays for one streaming platform and then you all share the passwords for each platform with each other – will soon become more expensive; Netflix, for example, will soon charge users more if they wish to share their password with others.
Ultimately, my point is that with the cost of living rapidly rising, many just can’t afford to pay for multiple streaming services, but many still want to be able to watch quality content; so the solution is, unfortunately, piracy. That’s because piracy, or illegally downloading, is a free alternative to streaming platforms.
I must point out that neither I nor DMARGE condone piracy or downloading content illegally in any way. I’m simply pointing out that it’s likely piracy rates have increased because there are now multiple streaming platforms available and it’s expensive to subscribe to all or most of them. It’s a classic tale; the cure becomes the problem…

The following article was produced in partnership with IWC Schaffhausen.
IWC Schaffhausen has always stood out as one of Switzerland’s most future-forward and technical watchmakers. The 154-year-old firm has had a long history of innovation, especially when it comes to material technology – and in 2022, IWC remains at the forefront of the industry, pushing new boundaries when it comes to watchmaking and engineering.
It’s the TOP GUN collection that’s home to their most impressive and technical creations. Named in honour of the United States Navy’s Fighter Weapons School – better known as TOPGUN – IWC’s newest timepieces are the pinnacle of modern tool watch technology. TOPGUN’s job is all about staying ahead of the competition, and it’s TOPGUN’s relentless drive that’s inspired these technical feats.
This year’s IWC TOP GUN releases feature cases crafted from ceramic, a material that’s come to be a speciality for IWC. Ceramic is an ideal material for watch cases as it’s scratch-resistant, light, highly biocompatible and serves as a medium for interesting case colours and finishes… The downside of ceramic is that it’s exceptionally hard to work with, and only the very best watchmakers are capable of crafting watches from the material.
Since the 80s, IWC has pioneered the use of ceramic in luxury watches, and their latest ceramic compounds are the culmination of decades of research and development… They’re not only one of the few watchmakers who can make watches from ceramic, but they’re one of if not the best at doing so.

The IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN (ref. IW389101), with its ‘Jet Black’ ceramic case and bright white indices, pays homage to the early ceramic chronographs IWC experimented with in the 80s and 90s while bringing a whole suite of new tech to the table.
With titanium hardware, an ultra-legible dial, a soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields and a day-date display, this is one mean operator. Designed for the toughest of conditions, its sapphire crystal is especially secured against displacement by drops in air pressure and features anti-reflective coating on both sides of the crystal – ideal for fighter pilots who’ve got no time to waste adjusting their watch.
“We have this very rich history with titanium and ceramics. That’s always been our two pillars.”
Dr Lorenz Brunner
Ceramic’s one thing, but Ceratanium is next-level. This high-tech material, a proprietary invention of IWC, is a game changer for watches. Essentially, it’s a special titanium alloy that when baked, undergoes a diffusion process that transforms the surface of the material into ceramic.

“It isn’t a coating. During the sintering process, a ‘phase transformation’ takes place which changes its structure and makes the ceramic surface layer bond directly with the titanium. It’s a bit like a loaf of bread: you bake it, it forms a crust that is tougher than the inside and almost impossible to remove afterwards… It’s such a nice material,” Dr Lorenz Brunner, IWC’s Head of Research & Innovation and the inventor of Ceratanium explains.
But what does this all mean? It means that Ceratanium is as light and tough as titanium but as hard and scratch-resistant as ceramic. It also has a really unique and cool-looking matte grey-black texture that’s quite unlike anything else. Plus, unlike a PVD or DLC treatment, the finish won’t wear or chip off, as the ceramic surface is both physically and chemically part of the watch’s case.
The IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Ceratanium (ref. IW388106) is the ultimate Ceratanium watch. Its case, chrono pushers and crown are all made out of the high-tech material, which gives the watch a seriously stealthy appearance – a character that’s additionally emphasised by its greyed-out indices and smoked sapphire exhibition caseback. You can tell just by looking at it that it’s no average watch.
Also crafted from Ceratanium is the IWC Pilot’s Watch Timezoner TOP GUN Ceratanium (ref. IW395505), which is easily one of the most unique and interesting luxury timepieces on the planet. It’s the first TOP GUN model to feature a Timezoner function to change between different time zones effortlessly and is a world timer non-pareil.

“I think the Timezoner is one of the most interesting complications, and one of the most overlooked. It’s the easiest world timer to use on the market.”
Dr Lorenz Brunner
It works like this: first, push down on the bezel, rotate it to your home time zone, and set the time and date using the crown as per normal. Then, when you’re off travelling and you arrive in a new time zone, rotate the bezel to the corresponding city, and the time will adjust accordingly.
It’s a really clever way of telling the time in multiple time zones without having to mess around with the crown and constantly setting the time. It’s perfect for trips with long layovers, supersonic fighter jet missions or international conference calls – or if you’re just curious about what the time is in New York, Tokyo, or Dubai… No other world timer is as easy and intuitive to use.
Then, add in the aesthetic brilliance and durability of Ceratanium, and you’ve got a truly unique timepiece on your hands.

“My department is working on at least 30 projects right now… We have all the freedom to try things out; to take risks. There’s no limit to our innovation.”
Dr Lorenz Brunner
You could easily make the case that no other watchmaker is as innovative or avant-garde as IWC. From Ceratanium to ceramics to highly technical movements, IWC stands out as a uniquely dynamic watchmaker; a high flyer. There’s a reason TOP GUN, the world’s most high-performance pilots, work with IWC.
Investing in an IWC is investing in the future of human engineering. The real question is this: how high can you fly?

I think it’s safe to say that most people are pretty hyped for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film that’s coming to cinemas next year – but Byron Bay men should be extra excited…
Australian actress Margot Robbie is set to star as the titular character that’s based on the popular Mattel doll and Ryan Gosling is playing her famous beau Ken.
And in a recent interview during the premiere of The Gray Man with Entertainment Tonight, Gosling spoke about Ken.
“Ken’s got no money, he’s got no job, he’s got no car, he’s got no house. He’s going through some stuff.”
Ryan Gosling
RELATED: The Gray Man Reveals Timeless Truth About Watches & Spies

Anyone who’s been to Byron Bay will realise this sounds familiar. A good-looking dude with tanned abs and bleach-blonde hair not having money, a job, a car or a house… Sounds like a typical Byron bloke to us.
Gosling went on to say that he has “that Ken-ergy” and when asked what ‘Ken-ergy’ is, Gosling merely responded with,
“You have a Ken in your life, and you know that Ken has Ken-ergy.”
Ryan Gosling
Confused? So are we.

Hopefully, those Byron Bay boys, who know that they themselves also possess Ken-ergy, will go see Barbie as Gosling believes his Ken character will provide onscreen representation for a lot of men…
“I felt like I was seeing myself. I felt seen. I think a lot of Kens will feel seen when they see [Barbie].”
Ryan Gosling
C’mon Barbie, let’s go party indeed.

Golden Globe-winner Taron Egerton has told the head of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that he’d love to be the next Wolverine. And it’s made us realise that Egerton and the OG Wolverine, Hugh Jackman have had rather comparable careers...
There’s a general consensus that Hugh Jackman played the popular Marvel Comics character James ‘Logan’ Howlett, AKA Wolverine, to perfection in Fox’s X-Men film series.
However, Jackman has repeatedly expressed that after seventeen years of doing so, he will not play Wolverine anymore; meaning it’s inevitable that another actor will one day take on the Wolverine mantle.
And according to the New York Times, Taron Egerton is extremely keen to take on the role.
The actor, best known for the Kingsman films and Rocketman, said he’s even met with Kevin Feige – the president of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) production company, Marvel Studios – to discuss the possibility of him playing Wolverine in the MCU.
“I’d be excited but I’d be apprehensive as well because Hugh [Jackman] is so associated with the role that I’d wonder if it’d be very difficult for someone else to do it. But hopefully, if it does come around, they’ll give me a shot.”
Taron Egerton

Egerton could be an excellent choice considering that he and Jackman have had very similar careers. They both appeared in crime-drama television shows – Jackman in Correlli and Egerton in Lewis – and in stage productions – Jackman in Beauty and the Beast and Egerton in The Last of the Haussmans – before landing their respective breakthrough roles.
Jackman’s breakthrough role, which was Wolverine in the first X-Men film, was (obviously) based on comic books and Egerton’s breakthrough role, Eggsy in Kingsman: The Secret Service, was also based on a popular comic book series.
Not to mention, both Jackman and Egerton received critical acclaim for portraying iconic, flamboyant singers; Jackman won a Tony for playing Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz and Egerton won a Golden Globe for playing Elton John in Rocketman.
Plus, if Egerton’s chosen to play Wolverine in the future, it means that no actor who’s played Wolverine has shared the character’s Canadian origins – in the comics, James ‘Logan’ Howlett/Wolverine was born and raised in Canada while Jackman is Australian and Egerton is Welsh.
There’s no denying that Egerton is a fantastic actor but Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine has left some mighty big shoes to fill. Plus, Egerton seems to be extremely busy at the moment with his new series Black Bird and the upcoming fourth Kingsman film; perhaps he’ll be too busy to commit to a hectic MCU schedule… Alas, only time (and Feige when he’s ready) will tell.

Keanu Reeves will host a new Formula 1 docuseries that’ll focus on Ross Brawn and Brawn GP, and it will be released next year on Disney+.
Yes, another Formula 1 project is in the works. After the huge success of Netflix’s Drive To Survive docuseries that gives viewers behind-the-scenes access to Formula 1 racing, others are hopping on the bandwagon.
It’s already been announced that Apple is developing a Formula 1 movie that’ll star Brad Pitt and Hulu is developing a Formula 1 tv series that’ll be executively produced by Daniel Ricciardo but now Disney is throwing its hat in the ring.
According to Variety, Disney is working on a four-part docuseries that will focus on managing director Ross Brawn and the year he formed Brawn GP. However, the best bit about this new untitled docuseries is that Keanu Reeves, the actor best known for John Wick and The Matrix, will host it.
Reeves, a huge fan of motorsport, was actually at the British Grand Prix last week and spoke about the upcoming docuseries.

“We want to tell that remarkable story of [Ross Brawn and Brawn GP]. There is so much to talk about. A friend of mine was telling me the story and I was so struck by it and he was actually working for Brawn back in the day in publicity and he’s a producer/director and so we were like, well let’s tell that story, let’s try and tell that story.”
Keanu Reeves
Reeves also hinted that at least some interviews for the series have already been conducted as he spoke about how “great” it’s been to learn more about how Brawn bought the Honda Formula 1 team in 2009, renamed it Brawn GP and then won both the Constructors Championship and the Drivers’ Championship that season.
“It’s been really great to be able to learn more about what was going on in Formula 1 that year. It wasn’t just the cars, new regulations, FOTA [the Formula One Teams Association], breakaway series. I mean there was just so much happening in Formula 1 at that time. The world of Formula 1 was just extraordinary. I mean, it’s always extraordinary, but in that year with Brawn GP I think something really special happened.”
Keanu Reeves
While Disney has made no official announcement about the upcoming docuseries, it’s believed the show will be released on Disney+ next year in 2023. And, honestly, we can’t wait as Reeves and Formula 1 go together better than peanut butter and jelly.
