Chadwick Boseman Just Pulled Off One Of The Most Impossible Suit Patterns
Chadwick Boseman Just Pulled Off One Of The Most Impossible Suit Patterns

In an ideal world you’d need to be a king to pull off the suit that Chadwick Boseman rocked to the 47th AFI Life Achievement Award in Hollywood.

Thankfully the 41-year-old Black Panther actor still has some of his leading man chops as he stepped out in a wild blue suit straight from Givenchy’s latest 2019 collection.

The suit which is cut in a single breast profile features oil-black embroidery all-over a solid blue hue. The sharp ensemble even brought back the skinny tie with Boseman pairing a black one with a black dress shirt to polish off the sharp ensemble. In the footwear department it was just as daring – a pair of Givenchy monk shoes with a single oversized logo strap.

Even co-star and friend Michael B. Jordan couldn’t outdo the suit pattern…

But when it comes to big statement prints, it’s not just suits for actor. Even in streetwear form the Boseman likes to draw in attention with floral denim matched to floral shirts. Now let’s see you try this one at home.

‘Sophisticated Flirting Rules’ You Need To Know Before Dating In 2019
‘Sophisticated Flirting Rules’ You Need To Know Before Dating In 2019

There’s nothing wrong with zoning out to The Bachelor. But if you ever find yourself dating a woman (or man) with devious intellect and a penchant for lorgnettes then you’ll need to improve your flirting before you drown in a sea of Mozart references and nerd face emojis.

Enter: Reddit’s r/AskMen community, who yesterday opened a forum dedicated to curating the cultural knowledge of 1.1 million modern men and their ancestors past.

“How do you be an interesting texter and keep a girl’s interest?”

The r/AskMen members upvoted each other’s responses, the most popular rising to the top of the page. We then consulted the chicas over at Elite Daily and Thought Catalogue, to help tweak this sexual textual knowledge to the cultural savant of your dreams.

Here are five ‘sophisticated’ texts that will help make you sound less like an emotionally unavailable leather jacket and more like a verbose version of Keanu Reeves.

“Do you follow (insert dark-humour meme page here)?”

Sophisticated peeps like to play up the ‘angst’ the rest of us keep at bay with coffee and doughnuts. So keep your ‘basic’ meme pages like The Tasteless Gentleman on the down low and go full ‘intellectual’ with something like Existential Memes.

Will your friends wonder why you’re acting so pretentious? Sure. But book-bae will love you for it. And if ‘existential memes’ sounds too wanky, try The Awkward Yeti — the least cringe-y (and most relatable) master work of the genre…

“I Can Be Quite Solipsistic”

Not only will this text show you keep a Dictionary in your bedside table, but it also demonstrates an appetite for self-reflection — something your ravenous-reader-of-a-lover will find almost as hot as torn jeans.

“Is it just me, or would this conversation be better suited to a romantic Mexican restaurant?”

One Reddit user recommends asking more questions about your crush than you make statements about yourself. This is not enough. In fact — doing this makes your convo liable to read like a job interview.

Hence the genius of this bizarre restaurant question: playful, off-beat and leading.

“I Just Got Back From My Mount Everest Workout”

As the good people of Reddit point out: avoid cliches like the plague.

“If she says, ‘What’re you up to?’, Just replying, ‘Laundry. Lazy day’ throws the ball entirely back into her court. Even if you don’t have anything interesting to say, you can always ask a question she might find interesting to answer.”

Essentially: avoiding short answers (and essays) and always steering the topic towards keeping the discussion going (or offline) helps.

“What’s your opinion of France’s love/hate relationship with fashion?”

“Throw in a shocker here and there but not too many. The kind of things that make her more curious about you; and when her curiosity is peaking; you back the f*ck out and shroud yourself in mystery,” (Reddit).

“Nice day for Netflix, lol”

Sarcasm? Tick. Irony? Tick. Postmodern disillusionment? Possibly. Sent on a sunny day this text has it all — and could even lead to a date.

Still stuck for inspiration? Further tips from our dedicated Redditors include:
  • Be warm and inviting — but simultaneously keep a distance.
  • Take a while to respond here and there (but not too long).
  • Reply with a question for a question, and an answer for an answer (keeps the conversation flowing by avoiding dead ends).

8 Affordable Men’s Dress Shoes That Will Take Your Work & Play Uniform To The Next Level
8 Affordable Men’s Dress Shoes That Will Take Your Work & Play Uniform To The Next Level

While it’s imperative all men own a pair of quality dress shoes, we understand not everyone can afford the most luxurious brands, which is where affordable dress shoes come into play.

While cheap dress shoes may not exhibit the same overall quality as their more expensive counterparts, they’re still more than acceptable for wearing to formal events, to the office or even just on a date.

We’ve scoured the world to hunt down the best cheap dress shoes for men that won’t compromise style and quality for price. But before that, a quick crash course on seeking out good dress shoes for those who know nothing about them.

How To Wear Cheap Dress Shoes

Cheap dress shoes have rightfully transcended the strict formal realm and now sit amongst purveyors of smart casual and casual players as well. What we mean by this is that dress shoes can be worn with:

The most important rule to follow with these pairings is the fitment of the bottoms. Whilst not as formal, cheap dress shoes are still formal wear so wearing fitted jeans, chinos, or shorts is a must for any dress shoe pairing. Get this right and you’ve got one hell of a polished look.

Traits Of Quality Cheap Dress Shoes

  • Leather. Real leather is a must. It breathes better, evolves to accommodate the shape of your foot, and can be refurbished a number of times.
  • Well-made soles. The soles should also be leather, and should be stitched – rather than glued – to the bottom of the shoes.
  • The lining. The lining of your shoes should be made of high-quality calfskin or natural leather, not synthetic materials. Wait, your shoes don’t even have a lining? Fill them with dirt and pop a bulb in them. They’re useless as dress shoes, but they’ll make great planter boxes.
  • The stitching. It should be neat and barely noticeable. Anything else is not up to your exacting standards and unworthy of your good taste in suits.

Jamie Foxx’s ‘Dad Suit’ Will Put Today’s Hype Beasts To Shame
Jamie Foxx’s ‘Dad Suit’ Will Put Today’s Hype Beasts To Shame

Gucci, Rolex, Off-White. If you needed proof that not all dads are born equal in the wardrobe department then Jamie Foxx is it. The 51-year-old actor showed up to the Netflix premiere of The Black Godfather this week dripping in more designer hype labels than your local 21-year-old wannabe influencer – and he made it look good.

Starting off with a charcoal suit with textured dots, we have some serious athleisure vibes going on thanks to the drawstring trousers which is a very modern look that doesn’t sit out of place in a semi-formal environment like this. The red contrast stripe on the side leg is also a slick touch which flows on to the holy grail of today’s modern sneaker collection – Off-White Nikes. That’s not all though. Foxx paired the suit with an immaculate Gucci polo in red with the Italian label’s signature colours wrapped around the collar. As with most suit-polo combos, Foxx buttoned the shirt to the top for an extra sharp look. Evening aviator sunglasses? Check. Try getting your dad to pull that off.

The watch he’s wearing with the suit is hard to pick from the photo and we’re not going to say it’s a Rolex…but we can say Foxx that has had a penchant for gold Rollies in the past. At a recent event alongside his daughter he was spotted in a Day-Date in yellow gold which he paired with a bomber jacket.

Foxx did something similar at another event where he paired a designer Jack Manson tracksuit with the same or a similar-status gold watch.

Dads, looks like Motherf*cker Jones just put you on notice.

This Ultra Rare Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series Is Now On Sale In Australia…For $1,800,000
This Ultra Rare Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series Is Now On Sale In Australia…For $1,800,000

It was only a year ago that Britain’s Top Gear deemed the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG a ‘modern classic’ with current prices pegged at double the original sticker price. And today there’s more proof with this Australian delivered example sporting 11,000kms on the clock asking a breezy AU$1,800,000 on Carsales.

This particular 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series hails from Queensland and is finished in the striking Solarbeam Yellow over two-tone black and red Leather. Worldwide Mercedes-AMG only produced 350 examples of the hardcore race version of the gull-winged SLS. Only 7 made it to Australian shores and this is one of them. So yeah, it’s rare as rocking hors-…you get the point.

For that amount of coin potential buyers will get a car that’s been bought brand new from the dealership with just one owner. Full logbook history and all the other bells and whistles are included like beautifully crafted Recaro fixed buckets and lashings of carbon fibre trim inside and out.

So what’s so special about this compared to a standard SLS? The engine features revised internals which bumps up power, reduces torque in favour of quicker response and drops 70kg of weight thanks to the aforementioned carbon bits and titanium. The engine is also special as it’s AMG’s final appointment of their naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 with 464kW of power and 635Nm of torque. Drive is fed to the rear wheels via a 7-Speed Getrag Dual Clutch Transmission.

AMG have given the SLS Black Series a claimed 0-100km/h time of 3.5 seconds and max velocity of 315km/h.

Rules Of Adulthood Every Man Should (Try To) Live By
Rules Of Adulthood Every Man Should (Try To) Live By

You thought there would be a eureka moment. A lightbulb would illuminate over your head, and suddenly you’d have all the clarity you’d been searching for. You’d feel calm, confident, competent. You’d officially be… an adult.

Adulthood doesn’t work that way. Instead, it’s more like a staircase – you can only travel one step at a time, but each step brings you closer to your goal. Sometimes it’s pleasurable. Sometimes it’s painful. At times you’ll wish you had a cheat sheet that reveals all the secrets to life.

So here it is, your cheat sheet. We’ve compiled 59 rules of adulthood every man should live by, whether he’s 18 or 38 or 88. Add your own in the comments.
  1. If you don’t understand something, ask before it’s too late.
  2. Quit multitasking.
  3. Be less judgmental.
  4. Staying angry or holding a grudge is almost always a waste of energy.
  5. Eat better, exercise regularly, sleep more.
  6. Go outside every day.
  7. Use your minutes mindfully. The average male gets 37,843,200 total minutes in his lifetime. Do you really want to spend them on Snapchat?
  8. Deal with uncomfortable situations sooner rather than later.
  9. Your home is your castle. Keep your castle clean.
  10. It’s okay to go to dinner or the movies by yourself.
  11. If it takes two minutes or less, do it now.
  12. Pick up a book every once in a while.
  13. Learn to give thoughtful gifts.
  14. Set goals. Write them down. Track your progress. Adjust accordingly.
  15. What you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while. Build beneficial habits.
  16. Everything you do makes an impression.
  17. Gratitude is a powerful response to most situations in life.
  18. Don’t aim for perfection at the expense of beginning. You’ll never complete a novel if you’re afraid to write the first word.
  19. Don’t expect closure. It’s an added bonus.
  20. Know at least one good joke.
  21. Pick up the tab when it’s your turn.
  22. Take more chances.
  23. Put your phone away. Be present in your conversations (and everything else you do).
  24. Maintain and cherish your friendships. Good ones are harder to come by the older you get.
  25. Be nice for no reason.
  26. Living in the moment and planning for the future are not mutually exclusive.
  27. Know when to leave.
  28. Wear the right amount of cologne.
  29. Don’t take credit for work you didn’t do.
  30. Don’t fight or break up via email, text, or social media.
  31. Talk to people who are different from you.
  32. You can never change another person, only support them when they’re ready to change themselves.
  33. It’s ok to ask for directions.
  34. If you never fail, you’re not trying hard enough or taking big enough risks.
  35. Measure yourself only against the person you used to be.
  36. Give every job your all, even if you think it’s insignificant. There’s no point in doing something if you won’t do it well.
  37. Restock the fridge and household supplies before they run out.
  38. Refuse to let your imagination die.
  39. You are who you hang out with. Surround yourself with people who inspire you and help you grow.
  40. Appreciate your family and friends. There’s no telling how much time you have left with them.
  41. Strive for balance in all that you do – work and play, activity and relaxation, significant others and friends, etc.
  42. Celebrate every success, even (and especially) the small ones.
  43. Enjoy the company of old people. They have stories to share and lessons to teach.
  44. Admit when you’re wrong.
  45. Forgive yourself for your mistakes. Dwelling doesn’t make them better, and they’re almost never as bad as you think they are.
  46. Be kind to everyone.
  47. Be especially kind to bartenders, baristas, taxi drivers, janitors, and anyone else who is often looked over.
  48. The more you talk about yourself, the less great you seem.
  49. If you give your word, keep it.
  50. Know your way around a kitchen.
  51. Work hard, but don’t let work become your sole purpose for living.
  52. Do what you naturally love to do rather than what you think you should enjoy doing.
  53. In general, steer clear of shoulds as much as possible. Live the life that’s true to you, not the one you think is expected of you by others.
  54. Never use the excuse that it’s too late to change.
  55. You’ll be a lot happier if you stop convincing yourself that happiness will come when you finally get this job or that car. Find joy in what and who you have now.
  56. Let the cheers speak louder than the boos. Focus on your supporters, not your detractors.
  57. No one notices your imperfections as much as you do.
  58. If you have something nice to say, say it. There are far too few compliments and thank yous in the world.
  59. Keep your legacy in mind. Know the man you want to be remembered as, and aim to be him every day.
