Get clicking to see our selection of the world’s coolest bathrooms.Interior stylist and founder of Sourceress Belinda Cendron says there are some easy hacks to follow to get the perfect bathroom that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional for men.“Firstly, for a fresh look and natural air purifier, and if space permits, a potted plant is a must,” she says.“Aloe vera and Boston Ferm are well known to enjoy low light, high humidity and the warm temperatures of a bathroom.”“Number two (no pun intended), make sure it smells pleasant, clean, and even inviting. I don’t mean the sweet smell of toxic bleach, but that first if need be. Try an all-natural cleaning spray (Bondi Wash Bench Spray smells great and removes 99.9% of the bad stuff). Oil diffusers and candles offer a low maintenance cover up for emergency situations.”Cendron also recommends investing in high quality cotton towels in a colour that complements your bathroom. “If in doubt, go white”.The most important thing to bathroom interior design though is to make sure you have room to move.“Don’t clutter the floor space and clean out the shaving cabinet at least annually to ensure the morning ritual is a productive and pleasurable one,” says Cendron.“After all, it’s the one room of the house where you’re likely to do some of your best thinking.”For more bachelor pad tips be sure to check out our comprehensive interior design hacks from the pros.

Everything Google Announced At The 'Made By Google' Event
Everything Google Announced At The 'Made By Google' Event

Google is making major strides into the hardware arena. Once just a (not so) humble software company, the industry giant has slowly made inroads on hardware – first through partnerships with established brands like Samsung, then by carefully testing its own designs. At Tuesday’s ‘Made By Google’ event, things cranked up to eleven.

Google unveiled a full line of products made entirely by its own in-house teams, boldly announcing its intention to become a full-fledged, vertically integrated tech company. The internet is a-buzz with excitement over the new releases, which include a mobile phone, a smart speaker, and a VR headset.

What do you need to know about what went down at Made By Google? We’ve assembled the highlights here.

Google Wifi

Google Wifi is a new type of connected system that replaces your router for seamless coverage throughout your home. It has a couple of cool tricks up its sleeve, like remote control and the ability to selectively block certain devices from the network (in case the kids/bestie/significant other need a digital time out). Its real selling point, though, is how easy it is to expand your network for larger spaces: just chuck another Google Wifi device somewhere else in your home, and coverage is instantly enlarged. The sleek, space-age design is a nice touch, too.

Chromecast Ultra

Chromecast is getting a 4K upgrade. The device, which lets you stream entertainment from your phone, tablet, or laptop to your television or speakers, can now stream in up to 4K Ultra HD and HDR with stunning picture and lightning speed. Google Play Movies will begin offering 4K content next month, so the timing is perfect.

Google Home

This cute little gadget is Google’s answer to Amazon’s Echo. Both are smart speakers powered by an intelligent voice assistant. In Amazon’s case, it’s Alexa. For Google, it’s the Google Assistant. A simple voice request triggers Google Home to play music, podcasts, or radio from Spotify, Pandora, and other similar services. Google Home can also answer your questions (thanks to Google’s legendary search capabilities), set alarms and timers, retrieve flight information, provide traffic updates, and more.

Daydream View VR Headset

Daydream is Google’s latest foray into virtual reality. The Daydream View headset promises to make VR simpler, friendlier, more accessible, and more stylish. It’s made of flexible, breathable microfiber that fits right in with the athleisure trend, and comes in three colours (slate grey, red, and white). The headset connects to your smartphone via NFC (no wires needed). A controller that stores inside the headset is included. Could this be device that finally brings VR to the masses?

Daydream VR Platform

A virtual reality headset is wasted without winning virtual reality content. Google demoed several new experiences for the Daydream platform at Made By Google, including a hotly anticipated Harry Potter game and an app for exploring space. Google also announced VR-capable apps for YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, and HBO so you can watch content in a virtual home cinema. There’s even a virtual reality version of Google Maps for the user who is really, really bad with directions.

Google Assistant

Everyone’s obsessing over AI, so naturally a major focus of the event was Google Assistant. The voice-activated smart service made its way into almost every product announced, and although its functionality isn’t particularly new, it promises a smarter, more unified, and more conversational experience. This is the closest Google has come yet to creating a real competitor for Siri.

Pixel and Pixel XL Phones

Au revoir, Nexus. With the launch of the Pixel and the Pixel XL, there’s a new pure Android smartphone on the scene. These phones are fully Google-branded and will be the first to include the Google Assistant. Other highlights include unlimited photo and video backup through Google Photos, Daydream VR support, and a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. But the real showstopper is…

The Pixel Camera

The Pixel camera is so good it earns its own entry. It’s being called the best smartphone camera of all time, thanks to a high level of detail, low levels of noise, and accurate exposures (and that’s just for starters). The Pixel is seriously raising the bar for what is possible with a smartphone camera.

LVMH To Buy A Massive Stake In Luxury Luggage Maker Rimowa
LVMH To Buy A Massive Stake In Luxury Luggage Maker Rimowa

For how many bank notes?

About 80 percent of the luggage company which equates to a bill of €640 million – or $940 million in local coin.

No doubt this is one of the biggest takeovers in the history of the iconic German luggage manufacturer which should see its customer base grow under the capable supervision of the French luxury giant, LVMH.

Details of the sale thus far reveals that the son of LVMH chairman, Alexandre Arnault, will take the mantle as the company’s new co-chief executive officer. Dieter Morszeck meanwhile who is Rimowa’s current CEO will stay on board to run the company alongside Arnault with his 20 percent stake.

LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault said of the historic sale, “Rimowa is a brand with a unique heritage. We share with Dieter Morszeck the same passion for innovation and a common desire to offer high quality products from a European tradition of craftsmanship.”

Morszeck was also positive towards Rimowa’s future, saying that he had an opportunity in the past to bond with the Arnault family where their visions aligned.

“Alexandre and I talked a lot about the attractive development prospects available to us and the common values that we share. I am very happy that he is joining Rimowa and I have every confidence in its ability to accelerate the current development with me.”

Whether or not the takeover will see the price and overall design of future Rimowa products change is still to be seen. Mario Ortelli who is the senior research analyst for luxury goods at Sanford C. Bernstein thinks that the buyout should prove to be beneficial to both brands.

“LVMH seems like quite a good steward for this family business,” he said.

“Taking a majority stake and running it but not making an immediate cut for what is the culture or the tradition of the company. What is interesting is that Louis Vuitton recently launched a new trolley that is moving in the direction of more functional luggage, that tries to combine its exclusive characteristics with high functionality.”

The LVMH-Rimowa takeover will be completed in January 2017, making the luggage company the first German brand to operate under the LVMH name.

Step Inside The Industrial Penthouse With A Classic Touch
Step Inside The Industrial Penthouse With A Classic Touch

Vietnam is renowned for its colonial style buildings boasting eclectic French charm, but every now and then something different comes along.

Located up north in Vietnam’s Hung Yen province is a quirky penthouse designed by ihouse studio. It’s hard to put a finger on the exact influence of this home but it’s this very point that gives the space an air of uniqueness. What’s noticeable is the eco credentials which have been seamlessly integrated into the architecture both on the rooftop and the bathroom’s vertical gardens.

Moving into the lounge and entertainment area, guests are greeted with floor to ceiling windows taking full advantage of views of the Red River. Elsewhere it’s a combination of raw brick and raw concrete teamed with industrial furniture pieces including a vintage steamer trunk which doubles as a coffee table and an alcohol trolley featuring all the bells and whistles.

Stepping into the master bedroom will reveal uninterrupted views of the sunrise as well as a five panel revolving door which acts as a divider between the garden and bedroom.

The combination of the design elements by ihouse allows this one-of-a-kind penthouse to make the most of its prime location in an often cramped country.

Justin O'Shea Sent Packing From Brioni
Justin O'Shea Sent Packing From Brioni

The man heralded as the saving grace for Italian menswear label, Brioni, has officially left the building.

Justin O’Shea spent just six months as the brand’s new creative director before it was announced this Tuesday that he would be parting ways indefinitely.

“First of all, I would change the shitty logo. I would change the campaign. I would change the clothes. In fact, I would change pretty much everything.”

The reasoning behind this, according to Vogue, was that Brioni wasn’t too keen on heading in the direction that the O’Shea had envisioned for them. This eventually led to the stark realisation that the two could no longer work together.

O’Shea had joined Brioni in March this year which was already regarded as a risky move since the Australian street style fashionista had no prior knowledge of formal design. Still, he was adamant that he could inject some much-needed life into a flailing label when he recently told Vogue what he had planned for the label’s future.

“First of all, I would change the shitty logo. I would change the campaign. I would change the clothes. In fact, I would change pretty much everything.”

He wasn’t lying. In the time he served as the creative head O’Shea enlisted rock band Metallica as the brand’s unorthodox ambassadors and opened a brand new Paris flagship store bearing a not-so-shitty logo. Both projects appeared to give the label the exposure they’d been longing for.

On top of this he also made his runway debut in July which traded the traditional fashion calendar for a ‘see-now-buy-now’ format. Brioni’s next runway show was scheduled to be in New York in November but this has now been cancelled until the fall of 2017 in Milan.

The official statement from Brioni’s CEO Gianluca Flore was amicable. He thanked O’Shea for his contribution and added that the brand’s revitalisation will “continue being implemented through a long-term plan aimed to further establish [Brioni] as a leader in the luxury menswear category.”

This may seem like an odd parting as O’Shea has never been one to shy away with his intentions for fashion. A creative mistake on Brioni’s part? Perhaps.

No news on the finer details yet but for now it’s safe to assume O’Shea is a free agent.

Gucci G-Timeless Stainless Steel Automatic Watch

Adventure Awaits In The Incredible Images From Red Bull’s Illume Contest
Adventure Awaits In The Incredible Images From Red Bull’s Illume Contest

On September 28, the world’s best action and adventure photographers gathered for the Red Bull Illume Winner Award Ceremony in Chicago. Fifty-five inspiring photographs were unveiled to the world, including the 11 Category Winners and the Overall Winner.

The 2016 Red Bull Illume Image Quest was the fourth edition of the contest, which previously ran in 2007, 2010, and 2013. The competition showcases professional and amateur shots of athletes and adventurers in incredible, sometimes surreal, places. The aim is to highlight the most captivating photography in the industry, and bring the public closer to the world of action and adventure sports.

This year’s Image Quest received 34,624 submissions from 120 countries. Many of the photographs were captured under extremely challenging circumstances (which isn’t exactly unexpected when your subjects are a bunch of death-defying badasses). The resulting images display photographic talent, deep passion for athletics and the outdoors, and split-second timing so good it might be sorcery.

For the second time running, the overall winner of the competition was Lorenz Holder. The German photographer took the top prize with a stunning shot of BMX rider Senad Grosic crossing a stone bridge in Gablenz, Germany. The image also took home the Athletes’ Choice Award.

Lorenz, along with the other winning photographers, will have his work displayed on illuminated light boxes during the Red Bull Illume Exhibit Tour 2016. This unique nighttime photo exhibition will travel to cultural hubs and hotspots around the world for the next two years. Tour stops will be announced on redbullillume.com, and while you wait, you can check out the top 11 images above. Inspiration lies ahead.

First iPhone 8 Rumours Are Already Here
First iPhone 8 Rumours Are Already Here

It’s been less than a month since the iPhone 7 arrived on the scene, but already rumours about the iPhone 8 are swirling.

2017 will mark ten years since the original iPhone launch, leading experts to speculate that Apple will create a breakthrough device with new technology and innovative design to celebrate the anniversary. Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities – who has been hailed as one of the most accurate Apple oracles around – is leading the pack with speculations about just how game-changing the iPhone 8 will be.

According to his forecasts, the upcoming smartphone will feature curved glass on the front and back. Apple is expected to introduce an OLED display under 2.5D glass, chosen over 3D glass for the difference in curvature of the cut. The 2.5D glass would create a smooth and unblemished exterior, and reportedly be more durable than 3D rounded glass in the face of drops.

KGI Securities also predicts that the 2017 iPhones will use a stainless steel or aluminium casing, with high end models more likely to employ stainless steel. The different metals could be a way to push customers towards buying the more expensive options.

Lastly, the iPhone 8 could be the model that makes the most of the now-missing headphone jack. Its removal means Apple can reduce the number of external ports necessary on the next model. With the swap of the physical home button for a virtual button, a large bezel is no longer needed at the bottom of the device. Add those two updates together, and you have compelling evidence that the ‘edge to edge’ screen may finally be on its way.

In the meantime, hunker down and prepare for a year of obsessive rumour mongering. 2017 will be a big one.
