Zlatan Ibrahimovic Out-Zlatans Himself With Latest Bombshell Claim
Zlatan Ibrahimovic Out-Zlatans Himself With Latest Bombshell Claim

Zlatan Ibrahimovich has just revealed that he played the last 6 months of Serie A, and won helped his team AC Milan win the coveted Scudetto, with no ACL in his left knee.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be considered an arrogant bastard if it weren’t for a few things. One: he backs up his hilarious levels of confidence with remarkable success – even as he pushes well beyond the twilight of his career. Two: he has a sense of humour, and is (somewhat) self-aware, even as he is calling himself a lion in human clothing (or something). And three: he is a true leader, helping teams wherever he goes achieve trophies.

Speaking of which: Zlatan just claimed that “for the past six months I played without an ACL in my left knee.” He took to Instagram saying: “Swollen knee for six months. I was only able to train with the team 10 times in the last six months. Took more than 20 injections in six months. Emptied the knee once a week for six months. Painkillers every day for six months. Barely slept for six months because of the pain. Never suffered so much on and off the pitch.”

“I made something impossible to something possible.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

“In my mind I had only one objective, to make my teammates and coach champions of Italy because I made them a promise. Today I have a new ACL and another trophy.”

A remarkable lesson in grit, if not a recommended example to follow for younger athletes hoping to have long and healthy careers (without arthritis). Zlatan, of course, would have had a world-class team of professionals helping him and advising him of the risks, and for now, at least, it seems to have paid off.

Where to next for Zlatan remains uncertain, but he has not made any definitive retirement claims yet. He will be out of action until at least 2023 while he recovers from his left knee surgery. The club has announced that the surgery went well: “The operation was a complete success and the prognosis is estimated between 7 and 8 months.”

Prior to making this revelation to fans, Zlatan told EUFA (in March): “The future is yet to be written. I don’t plan. Let’s see what happens. I don’t want to regret stopping football and then saying that I could continue to play football because then I’d regret it for the rest of my life, seeing that I could have continued. I want to play as long as I can. The reality is I’ll play until I see that someone is better than me, so I’m still playing.”

“I know one day it will stop, and I won’t have that adrenaline anymore. This is a problem for every football player because you have adrenaline when you play football. That adrenaline, you will never get in doing something else because we are programmed. Every day we do the same thing.”

Let’s hope we see a couple more years out of him. After all: he suffered this exact same ‘career-ending’ (and for many athletes it really is) injury on his right knee at Manchester United, and was back playing at a high level only a few years later (after a stint in the MLS).

In Honour Of Ray Liotta, Here Are His Best 5 Movies
In Honour Of Ray Liotta, Here Are His Best 5 Movies

Iconic actor and Emmy-winner Ray Liotta has tragically passed away. Here are his best 5 movies, in honour of his passing.

Liotta was sixty-seven and died in his sleep while filming the upcoming movie, Dangerous Waters in the Dominican Republic. It has not been announced yet what Liotta died of, but there is no suspicion of foul play.

In honour of the legendary actor, we’ve rounded up the five best Ray Liotta movies. We highly recommend watching at least one of them this weekend as a tribute – we certainly will.

5. Something Wild

6.9 IMDb score, stars Jeff Daniels, Melanie Griffith & Ray Liotta, Comedy, Crime & Romance, released in 1986

Something Wild follows Charles Driggs who is ‘kidnapped’ by a free-spirited woman named Lulu. Lulu takes Charles out of town to her school reunion and the two pose as a married couple; however, when Lulu’s violent ex-husband – who was just released from prison – shows up things take a dangerous turn.

Liotta plays the violent ex-husband to perfection; he was even nominated for a Best Supporting Actor award at the Golden Globes for this role.

4. Bee Movie

6.1 IMDb score, stars Jerry Seinfeld, Renée Zellweger, Matthew Broderick & Ray Liotta, Animation, Adventure & Comedy, released in 2007

It’s the kids movie that’s become weirdly popular with adults in recent years; particularly because it’s a goldmine for memes… Liotta plays a fictionalised version of himself in Bee Movie and it’s hilarious.

Liotta himself even loved doing Bee Movie; the actor posted on his official Facebook page in 2017, “A job that I would love to do again and again is voice in the Bee Movie with Jerry Seinfeld as the Bee.”

3. Narc

7.1 IMDb score, stars Ray Liotta, Jason Patric & Chi McBride, Crime, Drama & Mystery, released in 2002

When a young police officer is killed in the line of duty, Nick Tellis – a suspended narcotics officer, played by Patric – is asked to help solve the case. Tellis is paired with the dead cop’s partner, Henry Oak – played by Liotta – who is hell-bent on avenging his partner’s death.

Narc is a riveting crime thriller and Liotta’s performance is simply sensational.

2. Field of Dreams

7.5 IMDb score, stars Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones & Ray Liotta, Drama, Family & Fantasy, released in 1989

Field of Dreams follows Ray Kinsella, an Iowa farmer who hears a voice telling him, “If you build it, he will come.” Inspired, Ray builds a baseball field on his farm and the ghosts of Shoeless Joe Jackson and seven other Chicago White Sox players – who were all banned from baseball for throwing the 1919 World Series – appear.

This film is one of the rare times Liotta played the ‘good guy’ – Shoeless Joe Jackson – and he’s spectacular. Nostalgic and heartwarming, Field of Dreams is just a feel-good movie.

1. Goodfellas

8.7 IMDb score, stars Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta & Joe Pesci, directed by Martin Scorsese, Biography, Crime & Drama, released in 1990

Liotta leads an exceptional cast in Goodfellas and plays the small-time gangster Henry Hill. The film explores the Italian-American crime syndicate in a realistic and powerful way; making Goodfellas one of the best mobster films of all time.

Plus, Liotta is at his absolute best in terms of performance in Goodfellas.

Chris Hemsworth Proves Big Guys Don’t Have To Wear Big Watches
Chris Hemsworth Proves Big Guys Don’t Have To Wear Big Watches

Chris Hemsworth is one of Australia’s biggest celebrities, not only thanks to his popularity but also because he’s just a mountain of a man. Which makes his latest choice in watch all the more surprising…

Chris Hemsworth – the 38-year-old actor and fitness icon – is back on home soil, supporting his wife Elsa Pataky at the Sydney premiere of her latest film, Interceptor. A high-octane thriller that’s the brainchild of bestselling Aussie author Matthew Reilly, Hemsworth is also one of the film’s executive producers.

But unlike many action movie stars or Hollywood types – who love strapping chunky, garish watches to their wrists for these sorts of red carpet ‘dos – Hemsworth instead went for a much more subtle (but no less impressive) timepiece: a Bulgari Octo Finissimo Skeleton in pink gold (ref. 102946) worth AU$50,300.

It’s not the sort of watch we ever expected to see on Thor’s wrist, but there you go.

Images: Getty / Bulgari

Weighing in at only 5.15mm thick, this glamorous watch features a manual-winding skeletonised movement housed in a rather striking sandblasted 18ct pink gold case and mounted on an alligator leather strap. Despite its slim form factor, the clever BVL 128SK movement manages to include both small seconds and power reserve indicators as well as boasting a 60-hour power reserve.

It’s a far cry from the Audemars Piguet and TAG Heuer pieces Hemsworth’s previously been spotted wearing… We guess he’s aging like a fine wine.

Hemsworth is set to star as the villainous, Elon Musk-like Steve Abnesti in Spiderhead, an upcoming dystopian sci-fi thriller that was filmed in Queensland last year. From the trailer, it seems as if Hemsworth’s role is a darkly humourous one, and we’re keen to see it when it drops on Netflix in June.

Hemsworth will also reprise his starring roles as the superhero Thor in Thor: Love & Thunder and black ops mercenary Tyler Rake in Extraction 2, both of which are scheduled for release within the next 12 months.

We’d wager there aren’t many people on the planet that haven’t heard of The Rock. The former wrestler turned Hollywood hero is one of the most famous men on the planet. But have you ever wondered how exactly he became famous and, the snippet of information everyone wants to know, how much is he worth?

Allow us to reveal all.

The Rock Quick Facts

Who Is The Rock?

The Rock, real name Dwayne Douglas Johnson, is an American actor, businessman and former professional wrestler for World Wrestling Entertainment (formerly World Wrestling Federation). He was born in Hayward, California on 2nd May 1972 to parents Ata Johnson and Rocky Johnson (born Wayde Douglas Bowles), himself a former professional wrestler.

The Rock spent the majority of his younger years growing up in Grey Lynn, Auckland, New Zealand where he found a love for the sport of rugby.

The Rock is proud of his Samoan heritage from his mother’s side and this is seen by way of a large chest tattoo. Wrestling was always in his blood thanks to his father, who was part of the first black tag team champions in WWE history. His maternal grandmother is also credited as being the first female pro wrestling promoter.

The Rock moved schools a fair amount growing up, attending schools in North Carolina, Connecticut, Hawaii, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. Throughout his school years, he participated in a variety of sports, including football, track and field and, of course, wrestling.

American Football

No doubt due to his sheer size, The Rock was a dab hand at American football and even received offers from Division I collegiate programs. He played defensive tackle at the University of Miami and in 1991, was a member of the Miami Hurricanes national championship team. After he graduated from college, he joined the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League as a linebacker.

He graduated from college in 1995 with a Bachelor of General Studies in criminology and physiology.

Professional Wrestling

The Rock didn’t get much playing time in American Football and so decided to pursue a career in professional wrestling instead. Following a string of tryout matches that returned both wins and losses, The Rock signed a contract with WWF in 1996.

He initially chose the ring name Rocky Maivia (a combination of his father and grandfather’s ring names) after being persuaded by Vince McMahon, chairman and CEO of WWE. The Rock won his first match at Survivor Series in November 1996. He followed this up by winning the Intercontinental Championship in February 1997. He defended his title at his first WrestleMania, WrestleMania 13. It wasn’t long after this that the audience started to turn on The Rock’s character.

Later in 1997, The Rock changed his in-ring persona and it was at this point he started referring to himself as The Rock in the third person. The audience began to take a liking to this new direction and effectively, the rest is history.

Acting Career

If you didn’t already know of The Rock’s wrestling career, then you’re bound to know him for his acting credits. His first breakthrough roles were in The Mummy series of films, starring Brendan Fraser, where he portrayed The Scorpion King. It wasn’t until his role in Fast Five as Luke Hobbs that his Hollywood career went stratospheric.

Other notable movie credits include Moana, Baywatch, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, Jungle Cruise and the Netflix exclusive, Red Notice.

The Rock regularly sits atop the list of highest-earning male actors in Hollywood.

The Rock Net Worth

Through his various movie roles, sponsorship deals and wrestling career, The Rock has an estimated net worth of $400 million.

How tall is The Rock?

The Rock is 6ft 5in tall, or 1.96m.

How old is The Rock?

The Rock recently celebrated his 50th birthday. He was born on 2nd May 1972

How much does The Rock weigh?

While his weight will likely fluctuate, he is estimated to weight around 118kg.

Ryan Gosling & Chris Evans Have A Serious Bromance In The Gray Man
Ryan Gosling & Chris Evans Have A Serious Bromance In The Gray Man

Netflix has just shared the first trailer for the upcoming film The Gray Man; and boy, does it look wild.

The film stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas and it’s a match made in heaven; although, we’d argue Gosling and Evans have way more chemistry with each other than either do with de Armas…

Gosling stars as the titular character – the CIA’s most skilled mercenary – who finds himself targeted by Evan’s character, Lloyd Hansen, after discovering dark agency secrets. de Armas plays Agent Dani Miranda, who helps the Gray Man throughout Hansen’s manhunt.

The trailer is practically non-stop action which is no surprise considering the film is being directed by the Russo brothers – Anthony and Joe Russo – who are best known for directing the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s action-packed films, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Gosling and Evans have undeniable chemistry in this scene from The Gray Man trailer… Image Credit: Netflix

Also shown in The Gray Man‘s trailer is a snippet of the scene where Gosling and Evans’ characters seemingly meet for the first time. Evans has Gosling pinned up against a wall and the two share a witty repartee about the awful moustache Evans is sporting for the film. And the chemistry between the two is palpable.

Hopefully, de Armas’ character isn’t a love interest for Gosling’s Gray Man as the only scene the two share in the trailer is nowhere near as sexually charged as the aforementioned one between Gosling and Evans.

Okay, we are slightly kidding. But it’s so refreshing to see a clear bromance blossom on screen between a good guy and a villain. Speaking of which, Evans was clearly born to play the villain.

After playing goody-two-shoes Captain America for eight long years, Evans surprised fans when he played the villainous Ransom Drysdale in Knives Out and it looks like he’s taken things up a notch with his The Gray Man character.

Based on the 2009 novel of the same name, The Gray Man is set to be globally released on Netflix on July 22nd. And considering the trailer – which you can watch below – looks insanely good, we can’t wait!

Looks Like China Has Ripped Off Hummer With This Tough New EV
Looks Like China Has Ripped Off Hummer With This Tough New EV

The Chinese car industry has made leaps and bounds over the last two decades. In 2022, some of the world’s most exciting and innovative vehicles are coming out of the Middle Kingdom – but it seems the spectre of automotive plagiarism still haunts China.

Chinese automaker Dongfeng – one of the ‘Big Four’ Chinese state-owned car manufacturers along with Changan, FAW and SAIC (who own MG)  – is working on a new electric version of their Mengshi (or ‘Warrior’) SUV, according to photos leaked to the Chinese online portal Sohu.

Tentatively designated the Warrior M20, it’s a tough-looking car, with a tough stance, cool external ladder and huge ride height. But we can’t help but feel as if it’s a bit of a Hummer rip-off. Really, it rips off Hummer twice.

Firstly, it rips off the design of the original AM General Humvee / Hummer – although not quite as blatantly as previous Dongfeng Warriors, which have been of the world’s most notorious Humvee clones. Indeed, the new Warrior M20 EV has more than a little Lamborghini LM002 DNA, at least to our eyes…

But then, when you consider that General Motors has rebooted the Hummer brand as a purely EV venture with the new GMC Hummer EV supertruck – and that the M20 also looks a bit like that car… It gets a little uncanny.

The real twist in the tale is that the plagia-riffic Dongfeng Warrior M20 EV seems as if it’ll actually outperform the new Hummer.

As CarExpert explains, the Dongfeng will reportedly produce 800kW of power compared to the GMC Hummer EV’s 745kW in Edition 1 guise, and in a twist for a large EV, it’ll weigh 380kg less than the Warrior M50 – and therefore almost a tonne less than the Hummer EV.

Dongfeng reportedly have plans to introduce an electric truck, too – so watch out, Tesla…

His alter-egos, English elite Constance, and his American cousin Colton have provided entertainment and laughs for many.

But who is Gstaad Guy? He’s lived a very secretive life away from social media but read on to find out more about him.

Gstaad Guy Quick Facts

Name: Gstaad Guy (real name thought to be Mac although hasn’t publicly shared it)
Age: Not known but believed to be mid-20s
DoB: Not confirmed
Nationality: British. Born and raised in London

Who is Gstaad Guy?

Gstaad Guy is an online comedian originally from London, England. He’s most popular on Instagram and TikTok, where his characters Constance and Colton mock the elite from all around the world.

Behind the scenes, he’s told reporters that he works a full-time white-collar job for Apple, who apparently still haven’t realised what the comedian does in his downtime.

How did Gstaad Guy become famous?

Gstaad Guys’ first video was inspired by a FaceTime call he was having with a friend. In his own words, the friend was “really pretentious” and was complaining about how his masseuse was late while he was on a winter holiday in Gstaad.

The friend’s mother then asked him to tell her son how ridiculous he was being, and so Gstaad Guy recorded a video of him imitating the friend and sent it back to the mom which she shared in some WhatsApp groups.

A few weeks later after returning from a holiday, he found he was being recognised in public, with people referring to him as the ‘Gstaad Guy’. In his own words, “I thought to myself ‘Gstaad Guy, I like it.’ So I created the account, started posting and here we are.”

From there Gstaad Guy has rubbed shoulders with celebrities including the Hadid family, Chantel Jeffries, and Off-White creator Virgil Abloh, with his character Colton even voicing a runway show for the late designer.

He’s also been invited out to Gstaad multiple times to attend parties which he said were “surreal” due to finding fans of his in a “trillion dollar-net worth basement”.

Gstaad Guy Instagram

His first video in character was uploaded in January 2019, and he gained a steady following quickly, with over 50k followers by the start of 2020.

As word about his videos soon spread outside of Europe and across the globe; Gstaad Guy soon began racking up followers from the United States, leading to the introduction of Constance’s oblivious and goofy American cousin Colton.

The other main character in Gstaad Guy’s videos is Constance’s butler Alfrèd, who is inspired by Bruce Wayne’s butler in the Batman universe and is played by one of his best friends.

Celebrities featured on Gstaad Guy’s page include Logan Paul, Guy Gerber, Evan Eckenrode and Mohamed Hadid.

Gstaad Guy YouTube

Gstaad Guy also uses YouTube to upload longer videos such as parody songs and more recently vlogs.

While he doesn’t have the same following on YouTube as he does on other platforms, he’s still managed to feature Logan Paul, Mike Majlak, and George Janko.

Gstaad Guy Net Worth

Gstaad Guy’s net worth is estimated at around $1 million according to Hive. He’s accumulated his wealth mostly through sponsorships, endorsements, merchandise as well as selling personalised videos to fans on Cameo.

He has a website featuring a large range of different clothing merch, as well as beauty products (such as hair serum and moisturiser). Brands he’s collaborated with include Loro Piana which is part of LVMH all of which have “sold out in a matter of hours”.

The star has also made sure to give back, creating the “Push Hop Challenge” which raised over £25 000 to support and raise money for NHS Charities during COVID-19.

Fellas: It’s Officially Time To Bin Your Razor
Fellas: It’s Officially Time To Bin Your Razor

There are just five days left until winter. That means Australian men are about to have the best excuse they’ll ever get to stop shaving. And not out of laziness – or even warmth. This year Australian men are being encouraged to grow out their beards for Beard Season. Beard Season is an initiative that aims to get you to grow a winter beard and help raise money to make skin cancer history.

Australian men are being encouraged rock out with their crop out. For winter, at least. This comes as part of an initiative called Beard Season. Beard Season is run by a non-profit charity called Skin Check Champions. Its goal is to improve access and awareness for the early detection of skin cancer.

The way it works is this: you quit shaving (your face) for winter, and use your beard as a conversation starting tool, as well as a project which people can donate to, if they choose. The funds you raise will help Skin Check Champions pioneer the world’s first targeted, national skin check program. This program will connect people with technology. It will also provide free pop-up skin check clinics and highly trained specialists, especially in communities most at risk of skin cancer – Australia’s ‘national cancer.’

RELATED: Why Skin Checks Are So Important

This is particularly important for men, who are notoriously lax at getting check ups. Australian men are also twice as likely to die from a Melanoma than women are. Beard Season took to Instagram with an important announcement on this front this week, writing: “Gentlemen, #BeardSeason2022 is now open for Ambassador registrations.”

“Blokes are twice as likely to die from #skincancer than women in this country and #BeardSeason is here to save them (as well as their friends & family) from our ‘national #cancer’. Raising awareness and funds to champion #earlydetection. To be amongst the first of this winter’s fraternity simply head to beardseason.com and sign up!!”

“Every #beard could save lives so please start a team and share amongst your mates.”

Time to get that beard growing, fellas. You might not look as cool as @vj_kesh_ but you’ll get mad respect (and get an important conversation going) in the meantime…

Australian Car Number Plate Sells For A Record $2.2 Million
Australian Car Number Plate Sells For A Record $2.2 Million

It may seem weird, but heritage number plates are big business Down Under – and one plate has just sold for a truly ridiculous sum…

For those not in the know, heritage plates are Australian car number plates that were introduced or issued before plate formats were (somewhat) standardised across the country in the 50s. They’re not to be confused with personalised plates, which is a whole other kettle of fish (and which aren’t nearly as valuable).

While formats differ between states and there’s a wide variety of heritage plates, typically they’re black plates with white digits, numbers only and between 1 and 6 digits. Read this article for a great explainer.

Anyway, what you need to know is that these plates (technically, they’re vehicle registrations) are frequently traded for big sums of money, with lower digits or interesting number combinations (e.g. 777) worth hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars – as is the case with this recent sale.

Victorian plate #14 was sold by Shannons Auctions for a whopping $2,270,500 on Tuesday night during their autumn online auction – a record sum paid for a Victorian two-digit plate and one of the highest prices for a heritage plate ever paid in this country.

A screenshot of Lot 17, Victoria #14.

That’s not far off from the record auction figure of $2.45 million, which was paid for the NSW #4 plate back in 2017. We wonder how much NSW #1 would go for if it ever went up for auction…

It might seem bizarre but heritage plates are actually a rather good investment. Because ownership is tied to a vehicle’s registration as opposed to, you know, literally the plate itself – it’s theftproof. Plus you can actually ‘enjoy’ it, if you’re the kind of revhead who would get a kick out of having an oddball number plate.

As this sale indicates, heritage plates are rapidly appreciating, too.

“I’ve been doing this for 25 years and it keeps on surprising me,” Christophe Boribon, national auctions and external relations manager for Shannons Auctions says.

“I sold [Victoria #4] in 1998 for $75,000 – you tell me what has appreciated like that in 25 years. Nothing has appreciated like that.”

Other heritage plates that fetched big bucks at the same auction included $202,500 for Queensland “Q-plate” Q-226 and $330,000 for Victoria #6969. Nice.
