A brand new Ferrari has broken cover as the Maranello outfit’s latest entry-level car.
The Portofino drop-top will take the reigns from the outgoing California T whilst borrowing its name from one of Italy’s most beautiful towns, Rosso Portofino.
Entry-level doesn’t exactly allude to what most would think in the realm of supercars though. The Ferrari Portofino is still a proper thoroughbred designed to stir up emotions whilst moving very quickly. The car it replaces also retails in the region of AU$410,000 in 2017 trim so those expecting a basement bargain need not apply.
The Portofino is powered by a 3.9-litre turbo V8 which is capable of delivering 446kW and 760Nm of torque – a significant increase of 29kW and 5Nm over the car it replaces. These credentials allow the car to go from standstill to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds before topping out at 320km/h.
If cruisey practicality is more your style then you’ll be glad to know that the retractable hardtop can fold back to reveal a roomy boot and generous cabin space – including two rear seats for short trips.
These extra creature comforts won’t affect the car’s performance with the Portofino’s new chassis weighing significantly less than the California T whilst increasing torsional rigidity for optimised handling.
On the topic of creature comforts, the Portofino will come with a new infotainment system with 10.2” touchscreen display, revised air-conditioning which elevates occupant comfort both with the top up or down, and a revised wind deflector which cuts air flow inside the cabin by 30%.
Those keen to see it in the flesh will have to wait until September when the car officially debuts at the Frankfurt International Motor Show.

Gentlemen, we need to talk about your last minute rush wardrobe.
You know what we’re talking about. There you are chilling on the couch in your sexiest briefs and a bowl of cereal when your agent (pretend you have one) calls you out of the blue and says you have a meeting with Quentin Tarantino in thirty minutes (pretend you do).
Battle stations. You grab whatever you can find laying around your apartment, slap it on in a flurry of excitement and walk straight out that door into the gazing public…looking like Jared Leto.
Now we’re not knocking this beckoning style icon but it’s always fun and perplexing to see what outrageous fashion this man comes up with. Case in point, his latest outing to an appearance on EXTRA.

Rocking bright blue floral chinos is already pretty brave for most men but Leto continues to push the boundaries by pairing mother’s table cloth to bright red socks and a pair of Vans any teenager would be proud to show off at their local skate park.

Even the shirt is an enigma in itself, featuring crazy ‘Magic Eye’ print and collars which flow into tassels for a undone tie look. And let’s not forget about the iconic man bun which is less prolific this time but still there. The bun is paired with oversized sunglasses and a beard that would make Abraham proud. It’s quite literally lumbersexual up top and fuccboi party down low. WTF indeed.
What category of men’s fashion is this exactly? We couldn’t tell you either. But we can say that it’s peak Jared Leto at his best and we love him for it.
Jump into the gallery to see more of Jared Leto’s most eclectic looks that have baffled humanity.

Lamborghini isn’t just a car – it’s a lifestyle. While Automobili Lamborghini turns out some of the world’s finest supercars, sports cars and SUVs, sister company Tonino Lamborghini lends the Italian luxury aesthetic to watches, eyewear, fragrances, furniture, clothing, accessories, and gadgets.
It’s the gadgets that bring us here today, for once again Lamborghini has set its sights on making smartphones for the super-rich. The Alpha One is the latest opulent Android to join the brand’s lineup of eye-wateringly expensive status symbols.
Style trumps substance for the Alpha One. The smartphone boasts a gold-plated body made from the same ‘liquid metal’ used in Lamborghini’s cars, rendering it resistant to scratches, dents, chemicals and corrosion. The back is outfitted in handmade black leather (Italian, of course) emblazoned with the Tonino Lamborghini Raging Bull logo, which symbolises “strength, courage, determination and boldness.”
Inside, experts say the Alpha One doesn’t pack the specs to live up to its luxe exterior. The phone runs on Android Nougat, and includes a 5.5-inch WQHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, dual SIM card support, a fingerprint scanner, a 3,250mAh battery, 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage, and up to 128GB of expandable storage.
In other words, despite clocking in at a whopping US$2,450, the Alpha One has little functionality to differentiate it from high-end smartphones that cost a third of the price. The Galaxy S8 has similar specs, plus facial recognition and cable-less charging, and is available now for around US$900. Apple’s iPhone 8 is expected to ship before the end of the year with comparable features and a predicted US$1,000 price tag.
And no, the Alpha One doesn’t come with a car (not even a discount on one).
If splashing out for a name and not much else is your cup of tea, you’ll find the new Lamborghini phone at Harrods in the UK and several retailers in the UAE, as well as online.

First impressions matter. When a date comes in for a ‘nitecap’ to be greeted by wrinkled band posters torn from college dorm walls and battered furniture salvaged from street corners, you’re not getting a second night together.
It’s time to grow up and let your décor grow with you (even if you don’t have the dough to splurge on a total renovation).
Level-up your living space with these wallet-friendly, room-by-room budget home upgrades that can be completed in a weekend.
Kitchen

You’re not stuck with your backsplash, even if it’s literally stuck in place. Skip tearing it out in favour of an easier DIY that adds character to your kitchen with minimal effort and expense. The simplest way to refresh the current material is a new coat of paint (if you’re feeling particularly artsy, add a geometric pattern). Alternatively, go rustic by adhering wood planks over your original backsplash, or embrace modern minimalist vibes with a mirrored backsplash that can be applied over the existing design.
Living Room

After you’ve invested in a few timeless pieces of furniture, you can transform the living room around them by swapping out your textiles. A statement area rug can completely change the look of the space with a single purchase. New blankets and throw pillows can revive old sofas and chairs without the expense of replacing the actual pieces. A new set of curtains or shades also allows you to change up textures and colours at a relatively small cost.

Dining Room

Install a fresh fixture. A stylish dining area is essential in any bachelor pad, and one of the easiest ways to achieve that style is choosing a lighting scheme. Hanging pendant lights are a popular choice for a dash of masculine, industrial aesthetic above the dining table. Opt for dimmable lights to set the mood when you’re trying to woo a date.
Bedroom

Borrow the living room strategy for your bedroom. New pillows, blankets, and bed linens are the easiest way to renovate a bedroom without breaking out the serious tools. But if you’re feeling the urge to play handyman, adding a headboard is another way to express your style and reinvigorate the space. You can DIY a headboard from pretty much anything – wood, fabric, shelving, artwork, metal, recycled objects, floating furniture – to suit your style and budget.
Bathroom

Toss the old taps to give your sink a new lease on life. Bathroom fixtures come in a dizzying array of shapes, finishes, and perhaps most importantly, price points. Installing a new faucet is an easy and inexpensive project to tackle yourself, and should only take an hour to complete with the right parts and tools. Worst case scenario for the DIY-challenged, you can simply paint an outdated material to modernise it.
Any Room

Whole place in need a makeover? No need to bring in the wrecking ball. An entire apartment can be upgraded economically with a fresh coat of paint (get inspired by these accent walls) or some vibrant vegetation. Here are the indoor plants even black thumbs can’t kill – or, if you’re feeling ambitious, the D’Marge guide to creating vertical gardens.

Sorry old friend, the wise saying of one drink per day being good for your health is under serious threat.
Whether you do it for the antioxidants in your wine or the cold frothy taste of you favourite beer, you need to stop, according to one expert. Professor Tanya Chikritzhs of Curtin University’s National Drug Research Institute says that the idea of low-level drinking being advantageous to your health is all but a myth.
“From the very first sip, even at very low levels of less than half a drink a day, you can experience an increased risk for a range of cancers,” said Chikritzhs.
Whilst earlier studies have already suggested this, it’s the more recent ones that have confirmed alcohol as a carcinogen, the substance which can cause cancers in the prostate, mouth, throat, oesophagus, liver and stomach.
Prostate cancer amongst men is one of the most recent examples linked to casual drinking. Experts believe that one to two drinks every ten days over a number of years can increase the chance of a man getting cancer by up to eight percent when compared to someone who doesn’t drink alcohol.
“For a whole range of cancers, seven or eight of them, we can demonstrate a linear dose response relationship,” added Chikritzhs.
But what about all those health benefit claims of drinking we’ve heard about in the past?
Previously there have been reports which claim that alcohol helps to boost the levels of good fats in the body which in turn increases the body’s sensitivity to hormone insulin whilst decreasing inflammation – a factor linked to illnesses like heart disease.
Professor Chikritzhs believes that there are two sides to this argument and the ones championing low-level drinking are simply wrong. The studies advocating low-level drinking didn’t take into account external factors such as a subject’s past habits and it is these habits that could influence the results whilst creating an illusion of those who drink as being healthier.
So the gist of this story isn’t exactly a happy ending. If you increase the amount of alcohol you drink everyday, your corresponding risk of developing cancer also increases, i.e. no level of alcohol consumption is safe.
If you don’t want to increase your chances of developing cancer, then you’ll need to stop drinking entirely.
Maybe it’s time to strategise a new plan…over a drink.

Your favourite under-the-radar holiday spot may be a tad more crowded next time you visit. The United Nations World Tourism Organization has released its latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, revealing the trending tourist destinations that have experienced the most growth so far in 2017.
International travel is more popular than ever (we’re blaming all those globetrotting Instagrammers). UNWTO reports that destinations worldwide received 369 million international tourists in the first four months of 2017 – a whopping 21 million more visitors than in the same few months of 2016. Most of 2016’s strong performers maintained momentum, while destinations that struggled in previous years continued to rebound in the first part of 2017.
“Destinations that were affected by negative events during 2016 are showing clear signs of recovery in a very short period of time, and this is very welcoming news for all, but particularly for those whose livelihoods depend on tourism in these destinations”, said UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai.
“As we celebrate 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, we welcome the continued development of tourism and recall that with growth comes increased responsibility to ensure tourism can contribute to sustainability in all its three pillars – economic, social and environmental. Growth is never the enemy and it is our responsibility to manage it in a sustainable manner,” he added.
As for which countries are experiencing that growth most, the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer crunched the numbers to name the fastest-growing tourist destinations of 2017, based on international arrivals. You’ll find the top 10 in the gallery above, along with their growth rates and their full-year figures for 2016.
Rest assured we’ll be adding all of them to our bucket lists, along with the 25 Best Travel Experiences Money Can Buy.

There are very few people who haven’t had to deal with a bitchy girlfriend/boyfriend, a dominating partner or someone who you think simply isn’t a decent match for your beloved friend.
In life, there are always going to be people around us who, despite being forced one way or another to interact with, simply aren’t good people, and when this person is your mate’s partner, it can become a volatile situation very, very quickly.
So how do you deal with the situation before things get out of hand?
After all, there’s a chance that your friend could be with this person forever, and there’s a chance that they won’t last longer than a few months, but being a good mate throughout is key. It’s your mate that’s important, not the partner.
Diplomacy Is Key
Ultimately, starting or resuming hostilities is never something that will get you anywhere in life, let alone when you’re dealing with the delicate situation of dealing with your friend’s significant other.
So, as when dealing with any person who doesn’t really like you (and vice versa), take the moral high ground and hold it like you’re defending a World War 1 fort. Be friendly, be civil, be gentlemanly, and you can’t really go wrong.
If anything, it’ll probably help highlight your mate’s partner’s shortcomings so you don’t have to put the work in.
Consider The Bigger Picture
One of the biggest things people forget about any romantic relationship is that it provides a level of comfort and fulfilment that a normal friendship simply can’t give.
And despite how much you and everyone else thinks your mate’s new partner is bad for them, you might not have any idea what he’s going through outside of your friendship, how much he’s taking comfort in being with them, and what kind of support that sort of relationship provides for him.
Keep this in mind when dealing with the situation, and handle it with kid gloves at all times, because being too forceful or causing the relationship to implode might leave your mate lonelier than when everything started.
Work With Your Friends, Not Against Your Mate
There have been countless movies and TV episodes dedicated to mates banding together to save a misguided friend from some she-demon, and it never goes well.
Chances are if you don’t like your mate’s partner, the rest of your friends probably don’t either, but that’s no reason to start scheming and plotting.
By all means air your frustrations in a united front, but at the end of the day your friend is an adult who’s capable of making his own decisions, and you have no idea what kind of comfort he’s taking in the new partner.
Trying to force the issue to make things the way you want them is just gonna put everything in a world of trouble.
Know When To Walk Away
Just don’t burn any bridges. Things may come to the point where you simply have to stop associating with the person you find it impossible to get along with.
After all, you wouldn’t force yourself to be around people you don’t like on a day-to-day basis, so if you’ve made the effort and your mates partner still isn’t playing ball, then it’s probably better for all parties involved to stay away.
This isn’t to say you should cut off contact with your friend though, and if he does turn his back on you, leave it at that.
You’re probably going to be vindicated anyway, so if you do turn out to be right and everything turns to shit, part of being the bigger man means being there for your mate afterwards when they’ll inevitably need you.

Miguel Angel Silvestre ripped up the men’s fashion rulebook at the ‘Narcos’ Season 3 screening at AMC Loews Lincoln Square today. He’s taken the ‘wear a suit to this event’ rule and tossed it out the window. He’s also taken the ‘be conservative at a special event’ and punted that back to Madrid. Adios. Then, like a true legend he’s decided to leave his socks at home. Oy oy oy!
Gentleman, this is a great example of stylish minimal menswear that balances casual and dressy perfectly. The double black oxford lace-up shoes, cuffed tailored trousers and textured double-breasted knit in all black is a combination you can bank for you next night out. Noticed he’s not wearing a shirt? Yes, you can ditch the shirt for a t-shirt.
On Trend – The cuffed toiled trousers are everywhere at the moment with WooYoungMi and Lanvin making some great examples in their new collection.
And of course he’s a Porsche fan who knows how to pair black on black on black with a cool demeanour worthy of an MTV award…
