Every winter, the forecast is the same: frigid weather and a mass of snowbirds fleeing it.But not all travellers dream of sun-soaked paradises when the mercury drops. Some prefer the unique charms of cooler temps – the crisp air, the seasonal events, the thinned-out tourist hordes – while some destinations are simply at their best under a blanket of snow.Whether you’re in the market for a Christmas-saturated wonderland, warming drinks after a day on the slopes, or just off-peak prices, these are the best escapes for year-round winter adventures.Beach bums need not apply.

It only takes a quick browse through Dr. Woo’s Instagram page to realise why his work has earned him the title of the world’s most in-demand tattooist and over a million followers.
With his masterful inking skills having already graced the skin of celebrities like Drake, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Cara Delevingne and Frank Ocean, Dr. Woo will finally be bringing his unique aesthetic and artistic flair to Sydney for one day only – and it will be free for the lucky few chosen for hime to work his magic on.
As part of the Discover Los Angeles campaign, Dr. Woo will be visiting Australia for the first time ever to host a one day residency in Sydney on the 18th of November. This rare opportunity will see free tattoo appointments up for grabs, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get inked by one of the world’s best with a rumoured waiting list of two years.
Dr. [Brian] Woo has already drawn similarities between the outdoor scene of Sydney and L.A and says he’s excited to leave his mark on local soil.
“We used to call the big visible tattoos ‘job stoppers’ but this is no longer the case,” says Woo. “Tattoos are the new normal. You are almost square if you don’t have one. Australia has a similar outdoors lifestyle, so I’m not surprised to hear that tattoos are so warmly embraced, just like in Los Angeles. I’ve never been to Australia before so I’m looking forward to checking out the local scene and leaving behind some of my designs.”
The backstory of Woo’s career is an interesting one in itself which is worth noting. After a decade spent honing his craft at Shamrock Social Club on Sunset Strip, Dr. Woo moved onto opening his own private shop titled HIDEAWAY at Suite X.
This exclusive space is holed up in the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Once home to Marilyn Monroe, the landmark hotel provides the artist with a secluded and discreet space, where he can service his appointment-only clients in total privacy. Such is the privacy of Woo’s work that his studio’s location is only revealed once a long sought-after appointment has been confirmed.
Sound like your kind of drawing class? You’ll need to register on the day via a lottery draw to score a tattoo you won’t regret.
WHEN: Saturday 18th November 2017
REGISTER: Registration from 9am. Winners will be announced at 10am following a lottery draw. Winners must be available for an appointment that day.
WHERE: Hunter and Fox Tattoo: 422 Botany Road, Beaconsfield

When it comes to proven style icons like Tom Ford and Jared Leto there really isn’t much one can pick on.
Okay perhaps the latter you can ponder a bit sometimes, but what stands as a testament to the truth is that these art and film awards like the 2017 LACMA Art + Film Gala presented by Gucci continually draws out some of the most inspiring and impeccable looks in men’s evening wear.
Sure there’s the conventional black tux thrown around for most but it’s more about the execution that nails the mandatory rules of the style bible. There’s a forgotten classicism that’s often brought back to the present day with an added touch of flair which brings faith back into the modern man’s wardrobe – an area that has lately become more the domain of tieless suits and activewear.
Take for example Ford’s unique rendition of evening wear with a twist thanks to his midnight blue velvet dinner jacket paired with the classic black tuxedo. No stone is left unturned here with detailing applied right down to the bespoke shirt buttons.
Actor Jared Leto also flew the flag the right way with a three-piece dinner-inspired ensemble complete with loud yet elegant floral motifs on an overcoat. His overall look more than satisfies the art aspect of the awards but there’s a also a hint of rockstar in there who’s prepared to shake hands with a world leader.
Elsewhere it was all about Armie Hammer and Lee Byung-Hun in classic black tuxedos whilst Usher worked with his own rendition of a traditional look with a granddad collared dress shirt, cotton lapel flower and luxe sneakers sneaking their way into the look.
Take a browse through the gallery to see the best looks from the night.

Just as Dubai is in the news for replacing airport security checkpoints with digital face-scanning fish, South Korea has snatched the spotlight with an outlandish transit story of its own.Airports are in a constant contest to develop new ways to occupy your time. The competition is fierce to woo travellers with the prospect of butterfly gardens, yoga studios, golf courses, mini museums, and rooftop swimming pools – but if Incheon International Airport has its way, it will soon wear the crown for insane airport amenities.

It may not be the world’s strongest beer, but this rare Samuel Adams drop will still get you smashed in record time. That is, if you can get your hands on it.Released only every two years, Utopias is an “extreme barrel-aged beer” so potent its ABV clocks in at 28% and 12 US states have banned its sale. Hops hounds in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, and Washington will be all out of luck when the limited edition brew goes on sale next month.“Utopias challenges conventional thinking about beer but it is definitely a beer – that’s what’s so exciting!” Jim Koch, founder of Samuel Adams, told Forbes. “Utopias is brewed like any other Sam Adams beer, using four main ingredients and the traditional brewing process, but it’s the yeast strains we use, as well as our barrel-aging and blending process that makes Utopias truly one-of-a-kind.”Utopias uses three varieties of German hops and draws from a blend of Sam Adams batches, some that have been aged in barrels for up to 24 years. This year’s barrels ranged from old Buffalo Trace bourbon casks to Scandinavian Aquavit barrels, with the final blend aged in Moscat barrels.“This process, along with our blends from various barrel-aged beers, creates the most complex naturally fermented beer available anywhere – truly the lunatic fringe of extreme beer!” Koch added with great enthusiasm. This year marks the 10th release of Samuel Adams Utopias. A run of 13,000 bottles will be produced, each with a triple-digit price tag of US$200 per 24 ounces. If you’re lucky enough to score a taste, it’s billed as “reminiscent of a rich vintage Port, old Cognac, or fine Sherry with notes of dark fruit, subtle sweetness, and a deep rich malty smoothness.”In other words, drink it like a liquor, not a beer. Sam Adams recommends a serving size of just 1 ounce, and though we’re all for living on the edge, even we have to agree that knocking back a pint of this may not be your brainiest move.

If you were fortunate enough to jump on Twitter earlier today and noticed that Donald Trump’s account had disappeared, you weren’t dreaming.
RELATED: Awesome Gifts For Men
The dire situation on the social stratosphere played out for a whole 11 minutes before the U.S President’s account was restored, causing many to speculate what exactly had happened.
Well now we know. The government and elections team for Twitter announced via a tweet that Donald Trump’s account was “inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee”.
“The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored,” the team continued. “We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.”
Those who jumped onto Trump’s account at around 10am AEDT would have been met with the familiar error prompt of: “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist”.
Once it went back online it was straight back to business with Trump tweeting about tax cuts followed by the suggestion of cancelling the diversity visa lottery program in the wake of the New York truck rampage attack. His comments overnight even went as far as suggesting the detained attacker be sent to Guantanamo Bay where he’d receive the death penalty.
NYC terrorist was happy as he asked to hang ISIS flag in his hospital room. He killed 8 people, badly injured 12. SHOULD GET DEATH PENALTY!

In any case, many appeared to rejoice in the demise of the President’s erasure from social media.

The world’s celebrities are stepping out in style this week and we’ve got you covered on some of their most stylish looks.
First up is one of the fashion world’s most respected names, Nick Wooster, who wrapped up Tokyo Fashion Week in a killer overcoat and cuffed white trousers. Following closely behind in the coat game was Jared Leto in a striking military-inspired ensemble at a Spotify event in L.A.
Meanwhile it was all about the Justice League premiere in Beijing with actor Ray Fisher championing the high streetwear look and pulling off with ease. LeBron James added to this category with his usual sense of flair in a mustard bomber paired with pleated striped trousers and white sneakers.
This leaves just Joe Jonas and Conor McGregor to look after the week’s suiting looks with Jonas opting for a svelte midnight look and McGregor going for his David August three piece suit combined with paisley.

Singapore Airlines have pulled the covers off their revamped business class and first class seats for the Airbus A380.
The host of changes are aimed at giving passengers more personal space in a modern fit out filled with some surprising creature comforts.
Kicking things off nicely in business class are a select number of middle seats which can convert into full double beds. Overlooking the fact that you’d be catching zees in a bed in front of other passengers, the idea is still pretty bold in terms of honouring the airline’s latest ‘space made personal’ motto.
The business class seats themselves are 25-inches wide which makes for a decent amount of room to conduct work and rest in privacy. The layout remains unchanged with a forward-facing 1-2-1 configuration complete with extended seat shell and a slide down divider for the middle seats.
There’s also the ability to recline the seats into a ‘Lazy Z’ or Sundeck position as a precursor to fully reclining the seat into a flat bed. Once there, passengers have 1.98 metres of wiggle room from head to toe.
On the storage front business class provides ample room carry-on luggage under the seat as well as open compartments to hold things like laptops, bags, smartphones, electronics and more. KrisWorld inflight entertainment is presented on a generous 18-inch HD screen alongside an AC powerpoint and high-powered USB ports for quick charging.
Those wishing to step up their flight experience can enjoy the spoils of first class with their own suite which comes with a fully flat bed and separate leather recliner so that no conversion is required. There’s also two generously sized bathrooms which come complete with a sit down vanity counter.
The Singapore Airlines A380 will begin flights on the Sydney to London route from December 2017.

Less power move and more fashion statement, the paisley tie and its corresponding accessories have come a long way since the iconic 80s.
But first, a quick history lesson. Paisley refers to a distinct ornamental design which features a variation of the middle-eastern floral teardrop motif with a curved upper end. Whilst it was most popular throughout the 19th century before reaching its peak in the banging 80s, paisley had retreated in recent times, appearing mainly in the domain of film villains, old news anchors and those willing to rock the business attire of their dodgy retired stockbroker dad.
Well times are changing and paisley appears to be making its resurgence once again. Championing this movement is none other than UFC’s golden child, Conor McGregor.
At the red carpet for his film premiere, Notorious, the Irish fighter went down the classic pinstriped suit route and paired it with a pink and red paisley tie complete with matching pocket square and boutonniere.
The rules of paisley in 2017 are simple:
- Keep the sheen low as to not blind strangers and draw too much attention
- Don’t go more than two colours or paisley patterns at a time as this messes up the look
- keep the tie on the slimmer side for a modern look
When all else fails, take a look at the gallery which showcases the McGregor X David August creations in all of its modern glory.
