Ah, leg day. A day feared by many a gym-goer (as is evident by the high number of out of proportion guys we’ve all seen on the gym floor). While we all like to beef up our chest and get bicep peaks to rival Mount Everest, the often neglected legs are just as vital to train as any other muscle group.
Once you’ve battled your own inner demons and psyched yourself up to add some muscle to your thighs, glutes, and calves, you’ll be wise to follow this simple (to read) leg workout from Instagram influencer Lachie Brycki. Lachie has gone through his own body transformation, going from overweight to demi-God in 10 years. While we may not have ten years to get that perfect summer bod, you’ll notice results after performing this workout a handful of times.
Back Squat – 4 sets, 10 reps/set

Lachie starts by performing one of the ultimate leg workout moves: the back squat. For this move, place a barbell over your shoulders and squat down. You can alter your leg stance to target different muscles in your legs, but the default option is to stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.
Hip Thrusts – 4 sets, 15 reps/set

Next up is hip thrusts. Commonly thought of as an exercise reserved for women, the hip thrust can have massive benefits for guys. It works all your glute muscles, can strengthen your lower back and hamstrings too. This move is best carried out with a soft mat between your hips and the barbell. With your back raised on a bench and your legs bent, thrust up using your hips until your body is parallel to the floor.
Bulgarian Split Squats – 4 sets, 15 reps per leg/set

The Bulgarian split squat is a variation of the split squat, which itself is similar to a lunge. What makes this move Bulgarian is it requires your rear foot to be elevated, putting more emphasis on the single front leg. It works your hamstrings, glutes, and quads, but the elevated position also brings your core into play, as it tests your balance.
Dumbbell Romanian Deadlifts – 4 sets, 12 reps/set

The Romanian deadlift is a more hamstring-focused variation of the traditional deadlift. With this move, you want to hold the dumbbells in front of your legs and slowly bend over, using your hips. Run the dumbbells down the front of your legs to assist with form, and slowly bring your torso back up to a standing position.
Quad Extensions – 5 sets, 20 reps/set
Quad extensions are a killer of a move in any leg workout, but it brings a whole heap of benefits and will give you thunderous thighs in no time at all. This move is performed on a machine, but make sure you’re sitting in the correct position before lifting, to ensure you’re targeting the right muscle area.
Lying Hamstring Curls x Leg Press Machine Calve Raises – 4 sets each, 15 reps/set

The final move in Lachie’s workout is a superset, meaning one move followed right after the other. The hamstring curl machine targets, wait for it, the hamstrings and is a sure-fire way to beefing up your legs. The calve raises meanwhile are a vital move to help ensure you don’t end up with Pablo Picasso legs all out of proportion.

As soon as you pass through the sliding doors of any airport, you’re transported into a whole new world of fashion. Travelers aplenty exhibit styles that can only be seen at check-in desks, airport lounges and duty-free. While most are happy with comfort alone, others have to go all out, displaying designer brands from head-to-toe.But for real flying fashion inspiration, look no further than Jamie Foxx. The Django Unchained star was recently spotted taking a break from press duties for the upcoming film Just Mercy, in London’s Mayfair on January the 14th 2020 in a casual and comfortable outfit, but one that oozes class. With the Just Mercy press tour likely visiting several cities and countries, Jamie’s outfit is ideal for first-class flying. He combines a black pullover hoodie with just-as-black tracksuit pants – a far more comfortable alternative for when legroom is limited – and a pair of white Dior “B23” low-top sneakers, US$990. He’s clearly read our ‘How to wear white sneakers with black jeans’ article. While we can’t track down the exact hoodie and pants Jamie’s wearing, you can get yourself this similar all-black Ermenegildo Zelda tracksuit from Mr. Porter. Alternatively, this Todd Snyder x Champion pullover hoodie will be the perfect companion on any long-haul flight.Being the music and movie megastar that he is, Jamie finishes his outfit off with a blinger-than-bling watch, aviator-style sunglasses and a leather backpack that doubles as a boombox. We can’t confirm, but it looks remarkably similar to something from high-end bag retailer MCM.https://www.instagram.com/p/B7XME4fBWc2/Just Mercy is set to be released on January the 23rd, while he has also been cast as the first African-American protagonist in the Disney Pixar movie, Soul.

When it comes to watches, you’ll often have to make a compromise. Expensive Swiss watches are stylish, capable and expensive. So even if you can take them deep underwater, would you really want to risk it? After all, they can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. On the opposite end of the spectrum, more affordable watches that you’d be happy to roll the dice on often aren’t as stylish or as capable. If you want one watch to do it all, look no further than the Italian microbrand Unimatic.
2019 saw the rise of the Microbrand, solidifying their place within the watch community and Unimatic is one of the best out there. Designed and made in Italy, their watches combine not only typical Italian style, but also the capabilities to make them a serious workhorse. Their ‘U1-F’ is the embodiment of this and makes no sacrifices nor any compromises. Its distinct, minimalist dial is comprised of mostly Superluminova markings that make it ever so cool in low light. In addition, the rotating bezel has enough information for you to accurately time a dive, but isn’t crowded. The use of both stainless steel and black makes for an intriguing contrast that gives the impression of sturdiness and durability, making for an overall very handsome watch.
It’s all powered by a Japanese automatic movement and has a 1000m water resistance, making it three times more capable than a Rolex Submariner. All of this is mounted on a heavy-duty nato strap and is constructed in Italy by hand. Priced at $610, the Unimatic U1-F really is tremendous value, Italian style and build quality, capability beyond your needs and a great story behind the watch. It’s limited to 600 units, so you’d better score yourself one quick.

“Free diving is a really uncomfortable sport,” says 47-year-old Anthony Williams, a sport psychologist turned free diving athlete and keynote speaker originally from New Zealand. And he would know, in March this year he broke the Guiness World Record for ice diving, plunging an incredible 70 metres below the surface in Northern Norway.
`It’s like looking into an oil slick it’s so black, it’s so dark.`
Two days later Williams descended five metres deeper. The 75 metre tag – the small token of depth of which athletes grab before turning around and making their ascend – slipped his hand as he resurfaced.
Without the tag, it doesn’t count, he says nonchalantly. Understanding William’s success in part lays within how he manages to keep his cool about such a misfortune.
“Free diving is 95 per cent mental strength—the rest is physical,” he says. But that’s not an undersell of the physical strength and training needed to dive.

In fact, on his first dive, “It felt like someone had gone down behind me and had given me this massive bear hug while simultaneously holding me by the throat,” he says.
“I didn’t dive again that day.”
That was 19 years ago now, in a small cottage by the name Cote d’Azur in Southern France. At the time he was training a MotoGP team and came to the realisation: “I was a fraud.”
Growing up Williams was fascinated by all kinds of extreme sports from rally car drivers to speed skiers. But after so many years in the industry, he’d hadn’t experienced the extreme side of what he coached—physically, that is.
Living along the French Riviera left three options: bullfighting, paragliding or free diving. “Free diving takes you further,” he says. “It’s the sport that helps you understand more about yourself and what happens to you under pressure —literal pressure.”
From here Williams left sport psychology behind but carried its methods through to perform. He also became a keynote speaker, drawing from both a theoretical and now firsthand experience to teach aspects of leadership and how to deliver under pressure.
On the transition to ice diving he says, “I needed a new challenge”. He’d been free diving for the best part of 15 years and, “like every other freediver, it was about going a metre or two deeper each year.”
A small word from world-renowned ‘waterman’ and big wave surfer Laird Hamilton sparked a new interest: “Find the edge of freediving.” Hamilton had told him his key to staying relevant was ‘to constantly innovate and come up with new techniques.

In a dark space, feeling suffocated and claustrophobic, it doesn’t sound very free I say. Williams responds, “It’s about letting go of your fear and allowing yourself to sink for minutes at a time. Getting further and further away from help—it’s a very unusual sport”
“There’s no one down there,” says Williams. Each dive sees only a handful of items accompany him beneath the surface. Of those, is a GoPro attached to his harness, an alcapez torch, high tech goggles and two watches; his Panerai Submersible Carbotech on his wrist and a computerised watch behind his neck in his diving hood.
A faint alarm lets him know when he has reached certain depths but on the days he substitutes his computerised watch for a diving computer, it’s the voice of “an angry sounding Russian woman”. “Great dive! You’ve got so much air in your lungs!
Relax!” he repeats with a chuckle. These are the pre-set reminders keeping him company while submerged.
For now, Williams has pressed pause on his competitive watch, but the diving is far from over. Today he calls home to a small coastal town 97km southwest of Melbourne by the name of Torquay. After spending many weekends travelling down for the surf he decided it was finally time to move.

Beyond the surf, Torquay offers a great place to train. Through Instagram he met a group of local divers reaching 30 metre depths just 10kms offshore. Most mornings Williams takes his Yamaha FX HO 1800 jetski out with a rescue sled to practice. “I didn’t know you could dive off a jetski so easily,” he says noting its efficiency and ease of use. “Normally we dive off boats and it’s hard work.”
From France’s Mediterranean coast to Torquay, freediving sees Williams nose diving across the globe. Asked how many countries freediving has taken him to, “not enough,” he says with a laugh.
The Bahamas, Fiji, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Cyprus and Hawaii to name a few. “If it was my choice on where to dive I’d be straight back to the Bahamas,” he says. “Maybe even Columbia, somewhere like the wild wild west, untamed, somewhere really exciting.”
But before enjoying the comforts of somewhere warmer, Williams has an important task. On his list of feats to explore, his next focus is the ocean and conservation. “I’d like to observe how climate change is affecting low-lying areas and follow the humpbacks down to the Antarctic,” he says.
Using free diving as a way to access different places and as a window into creating awareness is the goal. “I feel like I’m not doing enough from my own perspective”. Beginning around Tonga or Samoa, he will use freediving as a tool to explore the greater effects of climate change and the importance of environmental change in time.

Reaching new depths is about choosing the right instruments and combining them with practice, training and determination. Beyond physical toughness is a resistance to the surrounding environment partnered with a want to dive deeper, go further and to break records in and out of the water.
Compressed sheets of carbon fibre at a controlled temperature bands together this professional diving watch. Progressive and performance-focused, the submersible collection are ideal for exploring, swimming and practicing extreme sports. Hardened through experience and progression, they are entrusted by the world’s best. Panerai is this free diver’s choice.

When it comes to super-fast saloons, BMW’s M division is the first port of call for many. The Munich-based manufacturer makes some of the most lusted-after cars out there, and for good reason. Many would regard the company’s pièce de résistance as being the M3, so often proving BMW’s “Ultimate Driving Machine” tagline to be true.
But what BMW has never done, is produce a bonkers-fast M3 estate. It’s something fans have long cried out for; after all, Audi and Mercedes-Benz both make supercar-rivalling wagons, so why has BMW not followed suit? We’re even more convinced there needs to be a production version after some crazy Dutchman has built his very own M3 Touring.
The car has been developed and built by Sander, owner of Netherlands-based tuning company Full Car Tuning. He’s detailed how it has come to be, by way of a dedicated Instagram page. But while Sander hasn’t followed in the footsteps of his fellow Dutchmen who turned a Porsche into a shooting brake by building new bodywork pieces, he has instead taken an M3 engine and parts and fitted them to a run-of-the-mill 3-Series estate.
View this post on Instagram
The result? A batshit crazy one-of-a-kind M3 Touring. So. Much. Want.
After sourcing an engine and parts from a six-month-old, written off M3 CS sedan, Sander had to modify some of the bodywork to make sure the M3 saloon pieces fit on its elongated cousin. With the hard work out the way, Sander was able to play around with the fun stuff such as selecting wheels and seats, as well as for deciding on the colour for the body.

When it comes to super-fast cars, the majority of us will opt for a garish colour, such as a bright green or orange. But this is an executive German wagon first, with a soil-your-pants-super-quick engine under the hood, second. It, therefore, needs a more sedate paint job, and we think the choice of Fashion Grey is sehr schön.
Since finishing the project, Sander has taken his M3 CS Touring to various automotive shows, and rightly so. If we had the skill (and bank account) to carry out such a job, we’d be shoving it in people’s faces left, right and centre.
Your move, BMW.

There are myriad sneaker brands knocking about at the moment, not all of which are making sneakers we actually want to buy. Of those sneaker brands we would buy from, there is only a tiny fraction that are Australian and Von-Röutte is the one leading the charge.“Von-Röutte” is a mixture of different languages but ultimately translates to ‘on a journey’. Whether it be actually travelling somewhere or more metaphorical, everyone is on a journey and Von-Röutte offers a selection of sneakers are the perfect addition to any journey. They hold simplicity, functionality and aesthetics at the core of their products and make them in Portugal from ethically sourced materials. If flying Economy is a lesson in humility, flying Business is a tutorial in treats. Fine wines, Michelin-esque food, brag-worthy pyjamas and a lie-flat bed make the Pointy End experience one to covet. But what do you do when your days of complimentary champagne run dry?
Whether you made an ill-fated investment or whether your company booked you into the wrong seat, there comes a time in every business traveller’s life when they must – unexpectedly – revert back to Economy.
While complaining about something most people have to endure every time they fly is not a good look, that’s not what this article is about. It’s about pointing out the faux pas you are liable to make when you haven’t flown Economy for a while.
Enter: my latest Sydney-Denpasar flight with Jetstar, a personal trip for which I was woefully unprepared, after having become used to living the high life when travelling on corporate dime.
Like a seventy-year-old ex-Ballerina coaxing her muscles into positions that were once second nature, here are all the mistakes you make (if you’re anything like me) when you sit down for your first budget economy flight in years.
You think there must be a problem with your seat
You squeeze into your seat only to notice the backside of the seat in front of you is far too close to your nose. Surely, you think, this must be an engineering error. Alas, when you ask the flight attendant if this is the case, she politely explains; the chair isn’t reclined, it’s just the weight of the guy in front of you is making it appear that way.
You get your hopes up too early
Despite being pressed up against the guy in front of you, for now, the seats either side of you remain empty. Score, right? Oh, wait. What’s that? A boys trip carting litres of duty-free Vodka and Gatorade march down the aisle at the last second to nab the seats next to you.
You forget to stock up before you board
Your disdain for your seat-mates’ alcoholism turns to admiration when you realise back in Economy (especially budget Economy) you don’t get alcohol. Not only that but when flying back from Denpasar they confiscate even water bought at the airport at the gate, making this journey more about survival than anything else. Fortunately, you can board with water (or spirits) bought in Sydney airport though, something which everyone but you has had the smarts to do.
You forget to order your food online
Another rookie error. Besides the odd glass of water, the flight attendants offer you nothing for free. You look on in envy as other passengers eat their avo/chicken toasted sandwiches (bought in the airport) and even manage a covetous pang for the microwave meal those who ordered online are delivered.
You straddle your seatmate
Embarrassed to wake up your neighbour (what’s the socially acceptable number of times to poke someone before giving up?), you engage in some sort of mid-air reiki version of Kama Sutra, and just as you are about to make it to freedom (and the aisle) the plane hits a patch of turbulence.
“Well, hey there…”
Your phone runs out of battery
Of course, being accustomed to the amenities of business class, you forget to bring a portable charger as most economy seats have USB slots (or nothing at all), not power sockets.
You don’t bring a jumper
After getting used to the numerous blankies and accoutrements of Business, you neglect to bring a pullover. You consequently freeze as the airline insists on blasting the aircon at arctic levels. Hello, influenza.
You stand up as soon as the plane lands
A crime worse than walking around the plane barefoot. So sick of being crammed in like salmon you become everything you used to hate, standing up as soon as you can, despite knowing it makes the disembarking process not one bit quicker.

Apple’s Airpods have been phenomenally successful. Based on revenue figures alone, if Apple was to sell Airpods as a standalone business, it would generate $8 billion in revenue each year and would be a Fortune 500 company. That’s how successful Airpods have been, but are they truly the cream of the crop? It’s great that they are so easy to use, aesthetically pleasing and sounds great, but is there something better out there? We think so and they come in the form of Master and Dynamics MW07 Go.
Priced at $200, they’ll set you back the same as with the wireless charging case and also feature the same Bluetooth 5.0 technology that keeps both earbuds in sync. So, what sets the MW07 Go apart? Well unlike the Airpods they have an IPX6 water resistance rating meaning they can be used in harsher conditions. They also have fifteen different fits meaning they’ll probably fit your ears better than the ‘one size fits all’ Airpods. If you thought the Airpods five hours of listening time was good, the MW07 Go’s will last for 10 hours. Impressive, hey.
The real stand out though is the sound quality, the MW07 Go’s feature a 10mm Beryllium driver which arguably provides a better sounds quality than the Airpods. Soundsguys.com, audio and headphones experts rated the sound quality of the MW07 Go’s at 9.7/10, contrast this to their 7.3/10 rating for the Airpods. All in all, the MW07 Go’s are definitely superior to the Airpods. They’re the same price but feature water resistance, a better fit and they sound far superior. Personally, I also think they look cooler in any of the four colours and no doubt they’ll help you stand out for all the right reasons.

Unshackle your tongue and unleash your dirtiest thoughts: it turns out roasting your partner makes them more attracted to you, a new study has found.Hot off the press out of the Appalachian State University, the study showed one of the strongest signs of a healthy relationship is a duo who regularly exchange barbs.Aside from justifying that snide remark you’ve had jumping at your lips, these findings also provide a warning for verbal jousters. After all, you can’t just go insulting each other willy nilly or – as even the most comedic savants know – things will end in tears.According to Dr. Science, the key is to ‘flirt roast.’ In one word: strategy. As in, on purpose (not because you’re actually annoyed), and light-heartedly.“Make sure that not only your personalities mesh, but your humours do too – so no one takes offence, feels hurt, or gets defensive,” celebrity dating coach and podcast host, Laurel House told Cosmopolitan UK, in light of the research.

“If you love making fun of your partner for never being able to decide on what to have for dinner, and they giggle along as well, you’re probably in the clear. (On the other hand, if you’re unwittingly getting snarkier at every little thing they do, that’s a different story),” the Cosmo article continued.Specifically, the scientists found an interesting relationship benefit that occurs in couples that live to roast each other: you feel acknowledged. Something doubly important in this world of Instagram thirst traps and monogamish boredom.“When you roast each other’s quirks, you are effectively pointing out the little, sometimes ignored sides to your personalities,” House told Cosmo. “Those quirks tend to be the things that you love the most about your partner.”Read: an extended inside joke that shows you are aware of their insecurities or quirks and love them anyway (or more) because of them.
“It connects you and your partner.”
Not to mention, humour is one of the best ways cope with life’s curveballs (Cosmo even suggests you combine the two and “take your roast session to the bedroom,” adding that “it helps you to softly address the hard stuff”).Kinky.Just remember, always roast kindly… That way you can bring attention to something (like them liking their ex’s new profile pic) without causing an argument.
