Forbes have released their annual Billionaires list and the man at the top for 2018 is not Bill Gates.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos overtook Gates to be crowned the world’s richest man for the first time ever with a net worth of US$112 billion, according to the publication. The massive jump in personal wealth comes off the back of Amazon’s massive 59% rise in share price in the last 12 months.
This impressive rally was enough to see Bezos’ personal fortune increase by US$39.2 billion in just a short amount of time. Gates on the other hand has commanded the top spot six times since since 1995.
This makes sense considering that Amazon is now considered he third most valuable company in the world ahead of Microsoft. Other notable names in the list included American business magnate Warren Buffet who sits in third with US$84 billion and Mark Zuckerberg who’s in fifth place with US$71 billion.
The United States currently holds 585 billionaires, the highest number in the world, whilst the China region comes in a second with 476 billionaires.
These are the top 10 billionaires listed in the latest Forbes list:
1. Jeff Bezos, $112 billion
2. Bill Gates, $90 billion
3. Warren Buffett, $84 billion
4. Bernard Arnault and family, $72 billion
5. Mark Zuckerberg, $71 billion
6. Amancio Ortega, $70 billion
7. Carlos Slim Helu and family, $67.1 billion
8. Charles Koch, $60 billion
9. David Koch, $60 billion
10. Larry Ellison, $58.5 billion

Convincing the better half to let you buy a Porsche just got easier. Overnight Porsche unveiled their first ever full electric vehicle known as the Mission E Cross Turismo to crowds at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
The sneaky German marque was able to keep the covers on the car long enough until its launch and it was worth every bit the wait especially since it looks (and presumably drives) like no other Porsche in history.
One only needs to take a glance over the heavily pumped guards and low-slung roofline to fall in love with the idea of a performance wagon again. Whilst the Stuttgart clan have dubbed this the ‘CUV’ or ‘Cross-Utility-Vehicle’, its proportions are clearly more reminiscent of a wagon body complete with four doors, four seats, off-road capabilities and more attachable racks than a porn star.

But we digress. The Mission E Cross Turismo is a concept conceived to directly compete with Tesla’s Model X once it reaches production form. New technology from the german carmaker includes twin electric motors powering all four wheels with 440kW. This powertrain is enough to get the CUV from 0-100km/h in under 3.5 seconds before topping out at 250km/h.
Whilst not as fast in a straight line as a Tesla Model S or Roadster, Porsche claims that their cars can launch repeatedly without overheating or losing peak power. On the green front the car boasts a new 800-volt electric circuit which can charge the batteries in just 15 minutes via a dedicated charging station. The total range is 400km per full charge and charging can also be done wirelessly via an induction mat – yes, like a smartphone.
Those looking to take the car off-road will tip their hat to Porsche for equipping the Mission E Cross Turismo with adaptive air suspension with height adjustment, all-wheel steering, torque vectoring and dynamic chassis control. The latter of those features will allow the car to maintain stability over rough terrain.
At the show Porsche admitted that the Mission E Cross Turismo is essentially ‘road-ready’. The company’s CEO, Oliver Blume, said that a production electric vehicle would arrive in 2019.
See the full features in the video below.

Ulysse Nardin stunned the crowds at this year’s SIHH in Geneva with the release of the Freak Vision, the Swiss watchmaker’s first ever automatic timepiece from the Freak collection which tells the time without conventional hands.
The new Freak Vision utilises the latest complication which was showcased in Ulysse Nardin’s InnoVision 2 concept watch at SIHH 2017.
In production form in the Freak Vision, this culminates in the innovative Grinder Automatic Winding System.
A super-light silicium balance wheel with nickel mass elements and stabilising micro-blades now graces the movement along with a new case design made thinner via a box-domed crystal. The hours and minutes functions meanwhile are determined by the rotation of the movement.
It’s a complex movement which does away with the conventional crown and is best understood in the video below.
Besides this rather spectacular looking in-house movement which can be seen from the caseback, the timepiece features a 50 hour power reserve, 30 metres water resistance and a beastly 45mm platinum case. The watch comes with either a leather-like rubber with titanium folding buckle.
With so much R&D and innovation crammed into the Freak Vision, pricing isn’t for the faint of heart.
It retails for CHF 95,000 or AU$137,600.

Whilst this year’s Oscars was a night filled with social messages, NRA threats and retired basketballers-turned-filmmakers, it was Jared Leto who seemed to be having the most fun.
The 46-year-old actor attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party hosted by Radhika Jones in fine form, rocking one of the finest designs to roll out of the Gucci camp. The eclectic aesthetic of the Italian label’s designer, Alessandro Michele, was certainly true to form with a red velvet jacket sporting peak lapels paired an exquisitely printed satin shirt with matching scarf.

The look was polished off with black trousers and loafers. What makes this look stick is Leto’s own foundations. His signature hair paired with a well-groomed beard allows him to pull of the 70s vibe in 2018 without looking out of place.
Four buttons down and subtle gold necklace? Mandatory.
Check out some of the antics Jared Leto got up to on the night including hanging out with Margot Robbie and photobombing other celebrities.

Luxury British carmaker Bentley is finally looking to a greener future with the unveiling of their Bentayga SUV in plugin hybrid format.
Okay, not really – it’s just to satisfy future tightening emissions regulations. The beast of an SUV which previously came in twin-turbo V8 and W12 variants trades up the big petrol engines for a 3.0-litre turbo V6 mated to an electric motor.
Whilst it might not sound as nice, the running costs should be easier on the hip pocket and benefit Mother Nature in the long run (not that buyers of this type of car need help saving). The format is a first for the marque and will see the Bentayga Hybrid travel up to 50km on electric power alone. Charging times have been noted as 7.5 hours on household power and 2.5 hours on a fast charger.

Information on the car is sparse for the moment but what we do know is that it will come with the Starck Power Dock concept, a home charger made entirely from sustainable materials including stuff like pressed eco-linen with bio-sourced thermosetting resin.
Get in line, cashed-up hipsters.

Black tie events can often be a dull affair when it comes to men’s fashion. We’re stuck with the same five items every time – the tuxedo, the bow tie, white shirt, high shine black shoes and the pocket square. Breaking convention takes practice, and most men, simply choose to avoid the hassle.
The Oscars tend to highlight new trends in men’s evening wear. Why? Becuase the big designers are dressing the biggest celebrities on the red carpet. In this year’s case, we couldn’t help notice the rise of the gey (or gray) tuxedo.
Common (who took home an Oscar last year), Kobe Bryant (who scored one this year) and the winner of Best Supporting Actor, Sam Rockwell all chose to wear grey tuxedos.
Grey has long been a staple of business suiting, but it’s never been a go-to when it comes to formal wear. That said, Suitsupply was one of the first brands to introduce a grey tuxedo in their FW17 evening wear collection. For this year’s Oscars ceremony, Common was wearing a beautiful made-to-measure tuxedo from Giorgio Armani.

We asked a local expert in men’s styling, Jeff Lack about his through on the grey tuxedo matter. ‘Grey is the new black, not really but it’s pretty bloody cool. Fashion conscious men are looking for a change from traditional black and what has now become the normal navy.’
‘It makes perfect sense that you can wear grey for business and pleasure. It’s an easy colour to wear and makes for a cool change. It won’t outlive navy or black, it’s for now, it’s fashion.” says Jeff.
Don’t expect every designer to be jumping on this grey tux trend, but if you do find one, grab it and be sure you’re one of the few men (if not only) sporting grey at your next formal event.

“Hey girl, you like crypto? You should invest in my company.” (Removes shirt).
That’s probably the angle the founders of MIROSKII were gunning for when they launched their initial coin offering (ICO) complete with Ryan Gosling as its “experienced” in-house graphic designer.
There’s only one issue though. Ryan Gosling is going by the alias of ‘Kevin Belanger’…or perhaps it’s the more obvious fact that MIROSKII is a hoax, designed to scam unsuspecting investors enamoured by the charm of the Gos and boundless riches.

For the crypto uninitiated, an ICO/Initial Coin Offering is where buyers can invest in the cryptocurrency before its official launch. This early bird approach can be beneficial for return on investment if the technology is legitimate and takes off once it begins public trade.
So is MIROSKII legitimate? We’ll let the company profile complete with authentic dodgy grammar answer that question.
“Miroskii Coin is developed and brought to business by the experts from China, Hongkong, Singapore and Japan to ease the crypto revolution in financial products. It is developed under its own highly secure encrypted decentralized blockchain technology. Miroskii coin is been tested, approved and accepted by most of the industry giants who has already started using the MRC (Miroskii Coin) in their closed B2B sector…”
Exactly, real Ryan Gosling. Exactly.

It takes time of year again when the who’s who descend on the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. This year it looks like 3 Billboards starring Sam Rockwell and Francis McDormand will be the film to beat. Perhaps the weird world of The Shape of Water might pip them? We’ll soon see.

Like every year before, we’ve chosen our selection of the best-dressed gentlemen to hit the Oscars red carpet. Unlike the Golden Globes, it appears the message of #metoo has been parked in place of the usual Oscars flair and colour. Rest assured, the message will be loud and clear in the speeches.
A few brave souls like Darrell Britt-Gibson (in pink!), Chadwick Boseman and Mahershala Ali have dared to be different. In more traditional tuxedo trends we see the navy tuxedo has made a comeback.
Common continues to do his best in classic black-tie attire and Christopher Plummer cuts a stately figure in a shawl collar navy tuxedo. It’s good to see that good style is timeless.
