Clive Palmer is one of Australia’s most divisive figures. According to The Sydney Morning Herald’s Resolve Political Monitor, the controversial politician and former mining magnate is officially Australia’s least liked political figure – probably thanks to his boosting of COVID-19 misinformation to parroting Donald Trump’s talking points and campaign style almost verbatim.
Also like Donald Trump, Palmer seems to have an unhealthy admiration for undemocratic strongmen, as evidenced by his latest and most outrageous purchase: Adolf Hitler’s Nazi parade car.
After two years of negotiations, Palmer has reportedly bought the notorious German dictator’s 1939 Mercedes-Benz 770 Grosser Offener Tourenwagen from an unnamed Russian billionaire for over $200,000. Not a very good look for a man who wants to run for a Queensland Senate seat at the upcoming federal election…

Produced from 1930 to 1943, the Mercedes-Benz 770 – also known as the Großer Mercedes (German for “Big Mercedes”) or the Super Mercedes – was at one point the most expensive German car ever made. Powered by a 7.7L inline-eight, the imposing vehicle made between 112 to 172kW depending on model year and supercharging: an impressive figure for the 30s, especially considering it weighed over 2,700kgs.
RELATED: Mercedes-Benz’s Most Outrageous Vehicle Sees Popularity Spike During COVID
Multiple cabriolet examples of the 770 were used by Hitler as parade vehicles, most of which boasted bulletproof glass and armour plating. The car has become a potent symbol of the Nazi regime and remains one of the most notorious vehicles of all time.
Some other dictators who either drove or were driven in the 770 include Italy’s Benito Mussolini, Portugal’s António Salazar, Romania’s Ion Antonescu and Spain’s Francisco Franco. Other high-ranking Nazis such as Hermann Göring, Reinhard Heydrich and Heinrich Himmler also used the 770.

Palmer reportedly also purchased a Rolls-Royce once owned by King Edward VIII – himself a controversial historical figure, and a notorious Nazi sympathiser.
The 67-year-old apparently wants to build the world’s biggest car collection and has long nursed plans to build a huge car museum in order to show them off. Palmer reportedly owns over 600 cars – some stored under his palatial Gold Coast home, some at the Palmer Coolum Resort on the Sunshine Coast, and some at a secure facility also near the Gold Coast.
While undoubtedly there’s some historical merit in the preservation and display of such a reviled man’s car, it’s not a good look. Especially while Ukraine’s being invaded by Russia. Hitler also tried to invade Ukraine, after all…

Bali is getting rid of quarantine for overseas travellers on the 14th of March, as part of a trial, an Indonesian minister announced at a press conference on Sunday.
“The government will also conduct a trial without quarantine for overseas travellers who come to Bali and it is planned to take effect on 14th March with several conditions,” coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said.
Bloomberg reports that the intention is to lift all quarantine requirements by April.
Pandjaitan also said: “Passengers who are fully vaccinated will still have to take a PCR test when they arrive and stay inside their pre-booked accommodation while waiting for the result.”
“After testing negative, the tourists will be free to do their activities with the procedures still being applied. Tourists will carry out another PCR test on their third day at their respective hotels. This is for our mutual safety.”
Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan
Pandjaitan also said that the trial could be brought forward if the COVID numbers drop next week.
“We could speed up 14th March to a different date if the data will improve during the next week. In Bali, it seems that yesterday we saw the numbers continue to improve in the last few weeks.”
Indonesia Expat reports that Bali was chosen as the trial location because it had a higher second-dose vaccination rate recorded than other provinces.
Peter Hibberd, an Australian expat in Bali who has previously spoken with DMARGE about what it’s like working remotely in Bali during a pandemic, said he reckons “just about every single person in Bali just had Omicron” and that he thinks significantly more people have had COVID in Bali than has been recorded.
That said, he expects a mad run of Bintang singlets come March, and says: “the sentiment is keen to finally be open.”
“Just means my bloody rent will go up. And more Australian bogans at bars.”
Peter Hibberd
As we reported recently, in recent times Australians have lost their title as the worst tourists in Bali, as social media stars from places like Russia and America have acted up in our absence.
As we reported last year, during these pandemic ridden times, Bali has been debating its relationship with tourism, with some calling for the island to “stop edifying tourists.”
What we can all hopefully agree upon, is that tourists need to show more respect – no matter where they are from.

It would be an understatement to call Elon Musk a controversial figure.
To some, the notoriously showy entrepreneur, who on any given day is the richest person on the planet, is a Steve Jobs-esque, almost messianic figure; a visionary who’s taking mankind to new and exciting places. To others, he’s a petulant man-child who needs to pay more tax and spend less time on social media.
But sometimes Musk’s penchant for social media – and making flippant decisions – can be a very good thing. Less than 12 hours after the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mykhailo Federov, called on Musk to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations on Twitter, Musk announced that the space-age service was available in the embattled country.
That’s an impressive turnaround and a praise-worthy humanitarian decision on Musk’s part… But as some netizens have pointed out, it’s a move that underlines how ineffective the US government has been in addressing Russia’s shocking invasion of Ukraine.
Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 26, 2022
Firstly, it’s worth explaining what Starlink actually is and why Federov was so keen to have it. Starlink is a satellite internet constellation operated by SpaceX – the groundbreaking aerospace firm Musk founded and serves as the CEO of – that provides satellite Internet access coverage to most of the Earth.
Satellite internet has been around for decades but hasn’t really caught on because it’s relatively expensive, laggy and relatively vulnerable to interference. Starlink, however, is much cheaper and faster than previous satellite internet systems.
RELATED: TAG Heuer’s Latest Connected Smart Watch Is A Game-Changer
The big advantage of satellite internet is that it’s not dependent on terrestrial infrastructures such as optical fibre or telephone networks. Starlink says the service is ideally suited for areas where connectivity has been unreliable or completely unavailable, such as rural or remote communities. It can also be deployed quickly in disaster situations… Or war zones.
As Russia is targeting Ukrainian infrastructure as part of its invasion, Starlink could help keep Ukrainians connected to the Internet even if Russia cuts off or destroys Ukraine’s terrestrial network infrastructure. Russia has also been targeting Ukraine with cyberattacks, including distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, which Starlink could also prove beneficial in combatting.
According to internet monitor and cybersecurity watchdog NetBlocks, Internet service has already been disrupted in several cities throughout Ukraine, including Kyiv, Mariupol, Kharkiv and Kherson.

Some may argue that Ukraine needs troops on the ground and military equipment more than it needs Internet access, but in this incredibly inter-connected world we live in, the Internet is an invaluable lifeline to the rest of the world. It’s a very good thing Musk’s doing.
Indeed, he’s making the US government look somewhat inept. As one commenter on a Fox Business article has put it, “over $700 billion military budget each year, yet only a private company is able to provide a solution to an allied country under siege enabling continued access to this vital infrastructure capacity.”
“Makes you wonder how much of that money actually goes toward advancing our capabilities vs political kickbacks to those on both sides of the aisle.”
RELATED: Australia’s New Electric Car Strategy Is Embarrassingly Bad
Other commenters have similar praise for Musk. “Elon Musk seems to be the only billionaire that actually wants to help the planet rather than rule it,” one suggests. Another added: “Musk knows how to get things done, politicians will waste time in the UN voting against a country that has a veto, just so it looks like they are doing something.”

While the situation in Ukraine is obviously incredibly complex, one does have to question how effective the measures the US and its allies have employed against Russia have been. In the short term, at least, it seems that sanctions haven’t deterred Russia from continuing their invasion, and the scant military support offered to Ukraine – mostly in the form of anti-tank and materiel weapons – is clearly not enough.
In comparison, Musk’s decisive and prompt support of Ukraine demonstrates a degree of conviction that some Western governments lack, such as Germany and Italy, who have been hemming and hawing about cutting off Russia’s access to financial mechanisms such as the SWIFT banking messaging network.
Fingers crossed that the US government – and other Western firms – offer more substantial support to Ukraine as soon as possible.
UPDATE 28/2 5:45 pm AEDT: it’s not actually clear when Starlink will actually be available in Ukraine, as American technology journalist Lora Kolodny reports on Twitter. Musk does have a history of empty promises…
I asked SpaceX head of comms this weekend on details about Starlink in Ukraine. Didn’t hear back. Still not clear on what’s being provided to whom and how it will function amid the conflict. Will report on it if I get answers from the co. (or employees) obviously.
— Lora Kolodny (@lorakolodny) February 28, 2022
UPDATE 1/3 9:50 am AEDT: looks like it wasn’t just hot air. Federov shared a photo on Twitter a few hours ago showing that a truckload of Starlink kits had arrived in Ukraine. Nicely done.
Federov has also thanked Meta (Facebook’s parent company) for “shut[ting] down Russian lies” and has called upon Google “to deplatform Russian state media in the strongest possible terms”.
You are most welcome
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 28, 2022
UPDATE 1/3 1:45 pm AEDT: Musk has also made Tesla’s Supercharger network completely free in parts of Europe affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Starting from Monday, the electric vehicle (EV) maker announced it would allow both Tesla and non-Tesla cars to charge for free from its Supercharger network in parts of Poland, Slovakia and Hungary to assist EV owners with reaching a safe location, The Driven reports.

Rafael Nadal has proved to the world that his Australian Open win last month was far from a fluke. He has now won the ATP 500 event in Acapulco, beating Daniil Medvedev in the semi-final, and world number 6 Cameron Norrie in the final.
This time, against Medvedev, Nadal started strong. He eventually won 6-3, 6-3.
Medvedev was on the back foot from his very first service game. Nadal continued his momentum into the second set, breaking Medvedev’s serve early and going 1-0 up.

Medvedev improved as the second set progressed and began winning points with his backhand drop shot.
Despite earning himself 11 breakpoints over just two of Nadal’s service games in the second set, he wasn’t able to convert them into wins, with Nadal managing to hold his nerve.
Djokovic got beaten surprisingly early in the tournament, losing his ranking as #1 in the world in the process (meaning Medvedev is now the world #1).

There you have it: despite last year’s injury concerns, Nadal’s career is far from coming to an end. The Spaniard’s Australian Open win was not a fluke, and if he keeps this momentum up Federer and Djokovic had better watch themselves.
Perhaps he’ll even win another grand slam and extend his record further beyond Federer and Djokovic’s 20 grand slam wins each (after the Australian Open win, Nadal currently has won 21 grand slams).
One imagines the marketing executives at Nike are twitching their feet in anticipation, wondering how they are going to spin this latest win into a provocative advertising campaign…

While we may have damning proof from German bodybuilder Jo Linder that suggests women don’t care if you have a six-pack or not, it’s still an aesthetic feature that most men crave. However, even if your abdominals can be seen on full display, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to be strong.
In fact, many people may not realise your abs and your core are two completely different things. As Fitlab states, “your core is a group of more than 20 muscles in the lower back, stomach and hips. The abs are a small fraction of this large and dynamic muscle group.”
It’s important you keep your core as strong as possible because it’s responsible for “keeping the spine stabilised, [helps you] maintain an upright body position and is critical for bending forward, backwards and twisting from side to side.”
So, how do you build a strong core? It sure as hell isn’t going to be by performing 1,000 sit-ups a day, but fitness trainer Cameron Martin, founder of The Martin Method, may have the answer.
Taking to Instagram recently, Cameron shared a relatively simple core workout using a kettlebell that, once performed a few times, will have you feeling stronger and more stable than ever before.
Cameron’s kettlebell core circuit comprises the following exercises:
1. Single Suitcase Deadlifts: The suitcase deadlift is a perfect core exercise to target the muscles on the side of your body; your obliques, for example. But it can actually be classed as a compound exercise because it targets multiple muscle groups at once.
To perform a single-arm suitcase deadlift, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and have the kettlebell down on the floor next to your foot. Hinge at your hips, pushing your bum back (envisage sitting down on a chair) and keeping your shins straight to get down and pick up the kettlebell with one hand. Make sure to keep your spine and neck in a neutral position (i.e. don’t look ahead, but instead, allow your gaze to follow the movement of your body). Once you have the kettlebell in your hand, brace your core and, with your weight pushing through your feet, lift the kettlebell up and stand up straight.
2. Heavy Holds & Marches: Heavy kettlebell holds and marches may not look like they do much, but they’re actually incredibly beneficial, especially when combined. This is because heavy holds are a great way to create time under tension, since the holding of the kettlebell requires you to activate your core and remain activated for the entire duration of the hold. Adding in marches further helps to improve core control and improves stabilisation in your trunk.
To perform this core exercise, hold a kettlebell at around chest height, using both hands to grip the kettlebell handle. The aim here is to hold as heavy a weight as possible, so experiment with different weights to find one that is comfortable to hold for around 30-seconds. You don’t want it to be easy, but you also want to be able to complete the hold with good form. Once you’re holding the kettlebell and you feel stable, begin marching on the spot, bringing you knees as high as possible; ideally to at least a 90-degree angle.
3. Heavy Kettlebell Swings: The kettlebell swing is one of the best core exercises you can perform, not just with a kettlebell, but overall. This is because it is a full body exercise, as it targets practically every muscle in the body, making it one of the most efficient core exercises going. Once again, Cameron wants you to go as heavy as you can with the weight to maximise the benefits. However, you need to make sure you perform the kettlebell swing correctly before you can think about increasing the load.
It’s probably going to be easier to imitate Cameron’s swing movement in the video, but to summarise, stand with your feet slightly wider than shoulder-width apart and hold the kettlebell with both hands. To generate the swinging momentum, you need to hinge at the hips and thrust forward, sending the kettlebell up. Swing the kettlebell up until your arms are parallel with the floor, and when it comes back down, allow it to swing naturally between your legs. Absorb this momentum by hinging at the hips once again and thrust forward to send it back up.
Perform each movement for 30-seconds, with 15-seconds rest in between each. Once you’ve completed single arm suitcase deadlifts on both sides of the body, the heavy holds and marches, and the kettlebell swings, you would have completed one set. Perform for a total of 4 sets and you’ll be feeling the beneficial burn in no time.

A man has done the unthinkable, and is now being castigated, after upgrading himself to business class and leaving his wife’s booking in economy.
The man, who goes by the Reddit username, u/djuejejnu, took to Reddit’s AITA (am I the asshole?) community to explain his dilemma. He said that he was 25 and that his wife was 24, and that they were going from the United States to Japan for a month on holiday. During the booking process, he was faced with a delicate decision.
“When we booked the tickets, we initially thought that we were going to be sitting next to each other, but I had the option to upgrade my seat to business with miles and I did.”
Reddit user u/djuejejnu
His wife was annoyed (“my wife is not too happy about that because she wanted to sit together on the 12 hour flight”) but the man struggled to understand why it mattered, writing: “But it’s overnight so we’re gonna be sleeping the whole flight so I didn’t think it mattered.”
He continued: “I told her that and she got upset because she thinks I chose business class over her and that’s rude apparently.”
“I said to her that she’s just jealous (in a teasing joking way) and she got upset and told me to ask the airline to see if I can switch my seat back to economy.”
“I said hell no because I’m not going to miss my opportunity to sit in business class (which looks amazing btw, look up ‘ANA the room’).”
Reddit uswer u/djuejejnu
He concluded: “In my eyes, it’s just a 12 hour flight and it doesn’t matter if I sit next to my wife or not. If it’s really bad though I still have a week before my flight to maybe get it changed. AITA?”
The judgement was swift. The top comment on the thread (which has 32.4k upvotes) reads: “YTA. You literally ditched your wife and then mocked her. You are absolutely the asshole here and she is completely right to be upset.”

Another Reddit user, Khanover7, wrote: “This was such a douche move. How would you feel OP if she did that to you. You obviously value your comfort over your wife which doesn’t bode well for marriage longevity. Good luck, you’re gonna need it . . . oh and YTA.”
Another wrote: “Exactly! OP, if it’s really ‘just a seat’, A- why are you so excited and telling us to go look up your amazing new seat and B- why can’t you just not be a w*nk and upgrade your wife’s seat too?”

The story ends happily though. After receiving a barrage of confirmation of his asshole status, the man added an update to the post, claiming that he had decided to buy his wife an upgrade, and clarifying: “Since so many are asking, they were my miles and I couldn’t use them to upgrade her seat”).
All’s well that ends well.

Men’s casual fashion is slowly taking over in the workplace (we’re blaming you and those damn Adidas sandals, Zuckerberg), but that doesn’t mean you should look like every other cubicle-bound drone at the office. It’s time to talk how to dress business casual.
Not business-y, but never too casual, the notion of a refined yet comfortable office dress code is dangerously ambiguous, without some concrete perimeters. We’ve witnessed the horror: men in ill-fitting shirts, baggy trousers and indistinguishable blazers, failing at office style and subconsciously slipping down the corporate ladder. It’s not too late.
Read on for business casual style tips and the key pieces worth investing in.
In This Story…
Focus On Fit

The golden rule, in every tailored sense of men’s style, is purchase clothing that fits you properly. Nothing destroys an outfit – whatever the dress code and no matter how expensive the clothes are – like an ill-fitting jacket, shirt or trouser. The first secret to looking smart is sizing correctly. Shoulders, waist and arm length.

Build Business Casual Basics

Once you’ve nailed the fit, you can start building up your wardrobe. Begin with pieces that are easy to mix and match, so you can get the biggest bang for your buck, interchanging jackets with pants and shirts with ties for a different look each day.
After you’ve built a solid closet full of staples, you can start getting more creative with texture, colour and pattern. Now, read on for pieces you’ll be needing to dress business casual.
The Business Casual Essentials
If you build your selection of essentials carefully, you’ll be able to achieve maximum levels of versatility with minimum levels of effort (which is crucial in the mornings and you haven’t even had your coffee yet).
Blazer

Kicking things off with fit, the jacket should sit square and snug on the shoulders (no peaking) and be cut slim through the sides and finish just below your butt. Sleeves finish a few centimetres above the thumb join to the shirt cuff can be seen, just. See a tailor to sort all this out for you.
Covering winter, summer and every temperature in between, there are three jackets you should consider. The first is a classic navy blazer, in a single breast design with peak or notch lapels. In light wool, navy is less stuffy than black and is dark enough to flatter your physique, instantly smartening up any look.
For cooler mornings, wear a grey tweed blazer. It’s ideal from injecting texture (menswear’s answer to adding interest to a block colour with a gaudy print) and will work well with other feel-good fabrics in your outfit such as cashmere cardigan, silk knit tie and a chambray shirt.
When the heat is on, a beige pure cotton or linen-blend blazer will help keep you cool in the office. And its warm, earthy tones will brighten up the office, swimming in a sea of navy jackets, making you a business casual standout, for a good reason.
Shirts

Ill-fitting shirts are common because we aren’t all models and in proportion from neck to waist. Again, get the fit right in the shoulders first, Then, move across: the space between the collar and the neck should fit two fingers comfortably, and the shirt cuff should meet at the thumb joint.
RELATED: The Best Casual Shirt Brands To Buy Right Now
If your shoulders are broad, look for a slim-fit design or consider getting darts; two simple straight seams put in the back of the shirt to cinch in the billowy fabric. This guide to dress shirt weaves will help you decide which fabric is best for your climate and dress code. In general, Oxford shirts are a tried and tested button-down option, and come in a variety of colours and patterns.
Solids are obviously the easiest to match, so focus at first on standards like white, light blue and pale pink, move into brighter colours and patterns such as stripes, checks or gingham versions. Always keep in mind that you should be more business than casual, so only wear a shirt if the collar can stand up without a tie.
Trousers

Due to a decrease in suit jackets in the office in recent years, trousers are more important than ever. So, start investing now.
Chinos in mid-weight cotton are your go-to choice for semi-formal workwear. Stick with classic colours – navy and camel – and opt for a fit that’s slim but not skinny.
Trouser separates, again in a multipurpose colour, are the next step up, venturing into grey or beige, especially in winter in a rich flannel or corduroy. Menswear’s current obsession with cropped trousers should really be minimised (invest in one or two max). If you’re after timeless stick to regular length, as trends come and go.
Finally, jeans are appropriate – workplace permitting. Go for something more on the formal end of the denim spectrum: mid-to-dark wash and absolutely no rips or heavy fading. Office jeans should also be slim, never skinny.
Shoes

The dress shoe classics are safest when it comes to your footwear. Loafers, Oxfords, Derbies, brogues and monk straps will all look dapper at the office, and will complement each piece mentioned above, allowing you to form a complete look when all brought together.
Casual Fridays may allow for a minimal, clean-cut sneaker to be worn to work, but again, as with the jean-rule, check with your boss first.

For quality, leather is always better, sticking to black, brown, oxblood and tan when choosing a colour. In summer, experiment with colour and even suede. This guide – how to wear coloured dress shoes – will help.
The Optional Business Casual Extras
If you really want an outfit that says “I’m headed straight to the top, better start clearing out that corner office, ASAP,” you’re ready to throw these optional business casual extras into the mix:
Polos

The polo shirt is taking on the button-down shirt for effortless business style. Coming in cotton piqué or the retro knit variety, the collar can be worn buttoned to the neck, for a clean finish.
Otherwise, leave the top three buttons open and sprawled naturally, teaming a summer double-breasted jacket and light coloured chinos (and loafers) to play off the going-to-work-could-be-holiday mood.
Knits

If you’re the type to wear bolder colours, then the sweater is a great clothing item to give an otherwise boring work wardrobe a little pop. Avoid sweaters with crazy patterns, as well as anything with a thick-gauge (such as cable knit).
The right knitwear needs to slip under a jacket when needed, but be weighty enough to hold its own solo. The best come in block colours, a slim fit and sit at beltline length, with a subtle ribbed hem and cuff. Cardigans are a great blazer replacement and fair better with a tie, always leaving the bottom two buttons undone.
Final Word: Accessorise

Taking these essential office items, play around with colour and print combinations and adding in or taking out traditional suit appendages for a relaxed look, that’s supercharged.
Lastly, when it comes to accessories, we say less is more. Add a leather folio to your wristwatch-ed hand, and do away with the tie, sticking to the idea of ‘casual’. By knowing the rules, you can now bend them a little, and not look like a fool. That’s how the Italians do it!
Business Casual For Men FAQ
Definitely. Have at least three blazers for your business casual wardrobe – a light wool in classic navy color, a grey tweed and a beige cotton or linen-blend blazer. Only wear a shirt with collars that can stand up even if you are not wearing a tie. For colors, go for solids like white, light blue and pink. You can also wear checked and striped shirts. Yes, but keep it formal with mid-to-dark wash denim. Since you are technically in your workplace, avoid rips and heavy fading. Also, ditch the skinny jeans and go for slim fit instead. Can you wear a blazer for business casual?

Last year, we reported on how the so-called ‘King of Instagram’, Mr. Dan Bilzerian, had got his hands on a rather unusual new car: a pint-sized Ferrari roadster, that he looks particularly hilarious driving. What can we say, big man in a little car = instant comedy.
Turns out it wasn’t just some weird clown car. It’s actually called the Ferrari Testa Rossa J, it’s an official Ferrari product, and, as the name implies, it’s a 3/4-size replica of a 1957 250 Testa Rossa, one of the most successful and beautiful Ferrari sports cars ever made. And now you can get one in Australia if you’re so inclined.
Yesterday, Ferrari’s Australian Instagram account posted about the Testa Rossa J – a big hint that they’re now accepting Australian orders for the big (or little, as the case may be) boy’s toy. With fuel prices at an all-time high, getting one of these little legends might not be such a bad idea…
The Testa Rossa J is produced by British firm The Little Car Company, which as you may have guessed, specialises in scaled-down versions of rare classic cars. Constructed using original design drawings from Ferrari’s Classiche department and utilising the same process employed in historical models – hand-beaten aluminium bodywork – it’s no Barbie Jeep.
As Top Gear relates, “the paint and leather are the same stuff Ferrari uses on its road cars, the steering wheel is by Nardi, the brakes by Brembo, the tyres by Pirelli, the suspension (which was signed-off by proper Ferrari test drivers at Fiorano, no less) by Bilstein and the pedals are nicked from the F8 Tributo. You get handmade wire wheels as standard, but you can upgrade to proper Borranis if you like.”
RELATED: Land Rover’s Newest Defender Labelled ‘Pointless’ By World’s Top Motoring Journalist
Powered by an electric motor, the Testa Rossa J makes around 12kW and has a top speed of 60km/h. With prices starting at around US$108,000 / AU$150,000 they’re hardly cheap (although much cheaper than buying a full-scale 250 TR, it must be said – a 250 TR sold for an incredible $US39.8 million back in 2014).
They’re only making 299 of the things, too – so if you want one, you better get in quick. Find out more at Ferrari’s dedicated microsite here.

There has been a great deal of discussion and controversy in the media regarding the use of peptides.
In light of this (and definitely not because I’m desperate to retain my youthful looks), I had a Sydney GP (who would prefer to remain nameless), answer a few questions to settle some debates once and for all.
We’re not the first to ask either, as they are asked several times a day by patients whether they can have peptides, and whether they’re even legal (they reckon a lot of people partially hope they are illegal).
The interesting thing about this is that most people who ask for them think of them as simply the latest in the ever-growing market of quick-fix magic potions.
When questioned by patients and friends for peptides and other weight-augmenting or weight loss medications, our GP always asks (and you should ask yourself too): What do you want to achieve? Is it legal? (peptides are in fact completely legal if prescribed by a doctor) And, which are the right ones for you or me, as individuals?
In this story…
Are Peptides Steroids?

The short answer is no. But it’s complicated. Let us explain: what are peptides?
In the world of health and fitness, peptides are used for increasing energy, burning fat, building muscle and improving athletic ability.
If you think of a hormone as a tree made up of many protein branches and even more peptide twigs, it’s easy to see how a hormone can have many side-effects if used wrongly.
Peptides on the other hand are much smaller and have been designed to stimulate specific receptors for growth hormones so you can tailor your results.
Essentially, they can be used for muscle gain or weight loss, recovery, reduced inflammation and are at the forefront of lots of new individual specific treatments for a range of disorders.
To begin with, we need to understand how our bodies function. At the base of our brain rests a small gland called the Pituitary Gland. Despite the fact that the Pituitary Gland is small, it is the control unit to other hormonal glands, for example, Adrenals and Thyroid, which are vital in the science of controlling your body and general wellbeing.
According to our medical source, in order to keep a sustainable balance in your body, the Pituitary Gland sends signals (hormones) into the circulatory system, which are transported to the other organs and glands in your body, to control or create their own hormones as needed.
“These hormones are keeping your body strong and healthy. Unfortunately, as we age they will start to decline.”
One of the hormones produced by the brain’s Pituitary Gland is Human Growth Hormone (GH or HGH). Human Growth Hormone keeps up body regulation, the digestive system and insulin levels.
But what signals the Pituitary Gland? Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone (GHRH), which originates from the Hypothalamus.
How Do Peptides Work?

There are many kinds of peptides, which work on different areas of the body. Specifically, there are peptides that can increase our own body’s production of GHRH from the Hypothalamus, which then naturally releases more Human Growth Hormone.
These Amino Acids stimulate our Pituitary Gland to make and excrete more Human Growth Hormone into the bloodstream. The boosts in production can assist in potentially lessening the effects of ageing.
To understand the benefits of anti-ageing, it is important to understand the benefits of increased Human Growth Hormone in the body. HGH acts on many tissues throughout the body. In children and adolescents, it stimulates the growth of bone and cartilage.
In people of all ages, it boosts protein production, promotes the utilisation of fat, interferes with the action of insulin, and raises blood sugar levels.
GH also raises levels of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), which is important in the development of lean muscle and is a key factor in the negative feedback loop. This loop causes a decrease in the natural production and release of HGH from the Pituitary Gland whenever the hypothalamus becomes aware of the level of HGH in the body.
This means that when there are low levels of HGH, the hypothalamus will release stimulators of HGH – Growth Hormone Releasing Hormones (GHRHs) – and when the levels are high it will work to bring them back down to a more normal level.
This is one of the reasons that you should only take hormones prescribed by a doctor so that you can help prevent these peaks and troughs from occurring.
What’s Inside Peptides?
Before looking at whether peptides are right for you, let’s look at what’s inside them.
Put simply, they are small proteins made up of fewer than 50 amino acids. Fewer amino acids have been more demonised of late than peptides for potentially giving an unfair advantage in sports.
But as our GP says, “To brand all peptides evil would be like excommunicating poppies because of the plant’s link to drugs.”
“In small doses, and within medically approved and prescribed products, peptides can be a lacklustre complexion, body and life’s best friend.”
Peptides Injection

How do you take peptides? Well, most peptides are injected into the body, but specialists are now developing other methods for introducing peptides into the body.
This includes creams which are applied to the skin topically (outside of the skin) or transdermally (similar to patches). They can also be applied to the skin inside the mouth or consumed where it is then absorbed into the body.
Should You Use Peptides?
When asking what you want to put in your body, you must always ask whether the benefits outweigh the side effects.
Like any substance that you know nothing about, they should not be bought online from unregistered suppliers (or borrowed from a friend).
Benefits Of Peptides
There is ample and robust evidence supporting the remedial effects of increased Human Growth Hormone.
As discussed by Harvard Men’s Health Watch, some of the benefits include; enjoying protection from fractures, increased muscle mass, decreased body fat, improved exercise capacity and a reduced risk of future heart disease.
A number of studies have also demonstrated improvements in psychological well-being, with specific improvements in energy and improved sleep quality (fewer awakenings, increased duration of deep sleep). Moreover, healthcare consumption and sick days decrease in parallel with enhanced psychological well-being.
“Every man desires to live long,” wrote Jonathan Swift, “but no man would be old.” He was right, and the fountain of youth need not be an illusion.
There are a number of peptides that have been developed to assist the Pituitary Gland in releasing increased amounts of Growth Hormones.
Compared to steroids and testosterone, with their large potential for fast benefits and potential side effects, these are not magic beans that will turn you into a super-athlete overnight. Peptides are more of a medium burn for those of us that know that the body we want is one of lifestyle enhancement and that the hours at the gym are necessary.
Most people, when asked what they think a peptide is, simply don’t care. They are results-driven, and it doesn’t matter to them that their method might be madness. Peptides are a magic genie that is ready and waiting to enact your heart’s desire.
Like most things in life, success takes a little work and any help along the way is appreciated. The right plan and the right peptides can assist your body in doing the things it already does to achieve your desired results.
I myself have been using a range of peptides for many years and living a fast-paced, travel, work and event filled life I need to look natural, fit and healthy. More importantly, I need to look energetic and not tired—all of which peptides help me achieve.
Peptides Side Effects
They can have potentially serious side effects, so you should consult your doctor before even considering their use.
Used incorrectly, peptides have the potential to cause side effects of varying degrees depending on the user.
These can include:
- Itchiness at the injection area
- Increased water retention (a common sign of overdosage)
- Increased hunger
- Dry mouth
- Tingling or numbness
- High blood pressure
- Extreme kidney pain
- Joint pain
- Darkening of moles and increase of freckles
- Weight gain/loss
- Decreased fertility
Peptides For Weight Loss
Many people are making a lot of money from selling what you want, so always remember to ask what it does, how long to take it, how to take it and what side effects it has so that you have realistic expectations of what it can do for (or to) you.
While peptides can help you to burn fat while working, eating, talking and even sleeping, they must be combined with other lifestyle factors over several months to see the best results.
