When Ford announced back in 2020 that they were reviving the storied Bronco name with a brand-new, super-tough 4×4, Australian motoring fans were ecstatic. Aussies love off-roading, so the prospect of a cool new ‘Jeep killer’ entering the market – especially one with such a high level of customisation offered from the factory – was a tantalising one.
Sadly, Ford Australia has since revealed that they won’t be bringing the car Down Under – consigning the Ford Bronco to be yet another cool Ford, like the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles, that Aussies are set to miss out on.
Never fear, however: one enterprising firm has stepped up to the plate, and is importing and right-hand-drive converting Broncos themselves, to help fellow Aussies get their Bucking Horse fix… Although there’s a catch.
Melbourne’s Crossover Car Conversions, which has been converting LHD US-made vehicles for the Aussie market for years, have recently opened up their waiting list for new Broncos. CCC has already imported at least one Bronco, with the Melbourne Car Spotters Instagram page sharing a photo of an orange Ford Bronco Wildtrak parked at the Westfield Southland shopping centre in Cheltenham earlier this week.
So what’s the catch? Well, they won’t be cheap. Depending on the trim level, you’re probably looking at anywhere between AU$90,000 and $150,000 for a Bronco. The import duties and cost of converting the cars to right-hand drive takes its toll (literally)… As does the price shenanigans US Ford dealers play.
“The problem you have with America is the prices are overinflated by the dealers so you can’t buy them cheap, so they end up being so expensive just like a Shelby is right now… The price [demanded by dealers] will always be $10,000 to $15,000 over, maybe even $20,000 over the MSRP because of the demand over there,” CCC owner Craig Dean tells Chasing Cars.
RELATED: Toyota Land Cruiser Blood Pact Shows How Crazy Australia’s Car Market Has Become
The Bronco’s just the tip of the iceberg. Imported US domestic market vehicles are becoming increasingly common on Australian roads, with a number of firms around the country specialising in the whole import/RHD conversion shebang having popped up in recent years.

Popular candidates for importation/conversion include sports cars like the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger, as well as full-sized pickup trucks like the Ford F-Series and GMC Sierra, which are prized by locals for their towing capacity and imposing on-road presence.
RELATED: ‘Tradie Approved’ Cars Fast Becoming Unlikely Status Symbols For Australian Men
As for Ford Australia, they’re probably not that fussed by third parties wanting to bring Broncos to Australia. The Ford Ranger ute and Everest SUV, both of which were designed and tested in Australia and have formidable off-road capabilities, are still best-sellers.
Ironically, the new Ford Bronco actually shares the same T6 chassis as the Everest and Ranger… So unless you really want a soft-top, you’re probably better off saving your money and buying a Ranger. But that’s just, like, our opinion, man.

Australia’s retro motels are saving old school architecture and making it cool again.
That’s right; places like The Mysa Motel, which offers a modern twist on retro Gold Coast (by merging old school bones with Instagram aesthetics), and is part of a growing trend of run-down accommodations being done up and turned trendy.
Co-owner of The Mysa Motel, Jason Raine, told DMARGE it used to be an “extremely tired and run down” motel originally built in the 60s which was “almost dilapidated.”
“It was extremely important to us to hold onto as many elements as we could. The Gold Coast has so much architectural heritage but it’s losing it at a rapid pace because of the new development that’s going on.”
“We’re all for change but we think it’s important to hang onto some of these elements like architecture. We feel it’s very important – not only that but it’s sustainable practice.”
“A lot of the materials and furnishing are upcycled or recycled – like the breezeblocks in the courtyard and garage. They are repurposed from commercial and residential properties on the gold coast that have been torn down.”
“Some of our bathrooms and the pool area’s mosaic tile that we use is actually recycled glass.”
There are also 64 solar panels on the roof and rainwater tanks (and the maintenance equipment is powered with batteries).
The Mysa Motel has a growing geotag on Instagram and 49 (and counting) posts to its name (under the ‘themysamotel‘ hashtag).
The Mysa Motel is not alone in this renaissance. The Sunseeker in Byron Bay also taps the nostalgia vein. Its website describes it as: “80s brick motel nostalgia reimagined (in every way) into a boutique accommodation experience for the modern conscious traveller.”
“Hidden behind the magnificent beaches of Byron Bay, Australia, The Sunseeker is nestled just out of the hustle and bustle of the main town.”
The Sunseeker, too, has a popular geotag page and 53 Instagram posts to its name.
There’s also The Sails Motel & Pool Club in Brunswick Heads, which is a lot cooler than your average motel, and Noosa’s 10 Hastings Street, as well as an avalanche of Airbnb’s also using The Instagram Effect in a similar way to convince you to press ‘book’ (“oh, this is a unique stay? Excuse me while I fish out my credit card”).
What is The Instagram Effect? Our theory is this: instead of calling your granny flat with some pot plants around it a granny flat with some pot plants around it, you call it a ‘treehouse.’ And then you give it its own Instagram page and geotag and encourage People With Followings to stay there and take photos. You then put it on Airbnb and make some dosh.
Jason, however, co-owner of the Mysa Hotel said it’s also a natural thing. In The Mysa Motel’s case, he says: “It’s more so an organic thing. I feel people have the choice whether they want to tag us or not we don’t really ask them to tag us or post a photo; that’s something they do of their own accord and it’s exciting for us to see. Everyone has a different eye of the motel.”
In all seriousness though, there are many positive aspects to modern prison block hotel chains losing their grip over your travel options. There have never been more (accommodation) options when booking a holiday. Now, all we need is some certainty around Australia’s domestic and international borders staying open (and entry requirements remaining consistent) and we’re good to go…

Picture the scene: you lock eyes with a kindred spirit across the bar, you send ’em a drink, you get chatting and they invite you back to theirs.
With the deed done, you get dressed and head home (or are sent home with a coffee the following morning). On paper, one-night stands are incredibly simple and serve to fulfil our innate human need for sexual encounters. But in reality, are they really that simple?
Because the very act of having sex is incredibly intimate, there is a high chance at least one of the two people involved will catch feelings. This can cause issues.
So what exactly should you do if you find yourself in such a situation? Is it actually possible to not catch feelings for someone after a one-night stand, or if it’s impossible, how do you best navigate the situation? DMARGE spoke to relationship expert and advisor to Channel 10’s The Bachelor, Samantha Jayne to find out.
Firstly, Samantha agrees it is possible to catch feelings for someone after such a brief interaction, “yes, absolutely, it’s called chemistry. There is something unexplainable that happens, a chemical reaction that sparks attraction: it could be a glance, pheromones, the sound of someone’s voice, it’s the x-factor, they might have particular physical attributes you’re attracted to.”
RELATED: New Study Finds Bizarre Trait That Makes You More Attractive
“Some people have so much appeal that when they walk into a room they captivate the people around them. Online dating is very much based on attraction, it’s so judgemental that you literally have a few seconds to make a good impression, so that is why it’s important to be your best version of you.”

“Of course when it comes to attraction strategies, some people are more of a slow burner, they need to find out the facts, weigh up the pros and cons before they allow themselves to be attracted. This tends to the be the pattern of the analytical types and overthinkers; it can also be a sign that someone is being cautious or has been burnt.”
“There is a risk factor though if you are a hopeless romantic or someone who craves attachment and attention trying to fill a void with someone else, because if you fall hard and fast, you could fall prey to a narcissist or a sociopath. They are out there!”
RELATED: Expert Breaks Down Relationship ‘Fundamental’ Most Men Are Blissfully Unaware Of
“They have a way of making you feel so special, giving you so much attention and praise, that you lose a sense of reality and get caught up in the sample and mirrors. If this happens, before long you’ll notice the chaos and the push and pull that occurs. It’s best to not rush things and truly focus on compatibility and aligned values.”
What if, after your night of passion, you think “I like this person”? What would your instinctive reaction be? Would you want to see if there’s a genuine relationship to pursue, or have they made their stance clear, it was just sex. Basically, should you make your feelings known, or mutually agree it’s just a hook-up?
For Samantha, she says: “feelings are something you can’t control. Ground rules or no ground rules, unless you are a robot, then feelings may surface.”
“Even players use strategies to prevent getting close to someone, they are constantly running from person to person in the hope that no one will see them for who they are, and they remain detached. But in reality, deep down it’s the void they are trying to fill.”
“So if you’re with someone and you start to feel for them, then you’re only human. I’m a big believer in communication and being honest with yourself. You can’t set ground rules to not feeling anything, but you can set ground rules for what is to be expected in the relationship, even if it is casual.”
“So it’s important to look after yourself. If you are feeling something then communicate it rather than ghost or continue to put yourself in a vulnerable position. Just be aware that if it was meant to be casual you should not try to convince the other person to change things.”
“Let your feelings be known and be preared to do what is best for you, even if it means walking away. On the odd occasion you might be surprised to learn the feelings could be mutual…but if not, walk.”
If you do agree with one another that it’s strictly a casual thing, where the occasional “you up?” messages are sent, but further down the line feelings become involved, how do you navigate this?

“Honesty is the best policy,” says Samantha, “but if someone has said they only want casual then listen to them.”
“Before you even engage, think about if it’s possible for you to remain emotionally uninvolved and how that will impact you in the long run. Will it create more insecurity, anxiety or will you genuinely just love the physical connection? This is about you, what you want and if it serves you. Is it good for you?”
If you’re starting to feel like you’re going to be incapable of not catching feelings for your casual fling, are there any failsafe tips to help prevent it? Samantha suggests there are a few things you can try:
“Avoid eye contact, talking about meaningful things that bring you close, keep the time together limited and focus on the other person’s negative traits and incompatibility. Don’t put your eggs in one basket, meet other people, basically, try to avoid quality time and anything that will fulfil your love language.”
However, as great as those tips may be, Samantha believes catching feelings for a one-night stand or casual hook-up, “is inevitable.”
“The person that catches feelings is often the more vulnerable one and really should be finding someone that can give them what they deserve. Often this becomes a pattern and the negative self-talk that comes with it is ‘I’m not good enough’, ‘nobody wants anything serious with me’ etc…”
So, next time you find yourself in this dilemma, take heed of Samantha’s advice and listen to what you actually feel. Then communicate. And for the love of God, don’t go chumming or paperclipping…

Sleeping in cattle class is something many people wish they could do, but fail miserably at.
It’s not surprising why. You’ve got seatmates clambering over you to relieve themselves, turbulence, little room to recline and – often – the person behind’s knees digging into your back.
Welcome to economy.
You’ve also got such challenges as being too hot, being too cold, and wondering how many people before you used your blanket and headphones. It’s a minefield.
There are some ways to make it more pleasant though. Speaking of which, former flight attendant Kat Kamalani recently took to TikTok to share her top tips for sleeping on a red-eye flight.
“I was a flight attendant for 6 years and these are the things I wish I knew before flying in the middle of the night that would make my travel so much easier,” she said.
“Depending on what kind of flight attendant you get, the lights are either going to be on or off.”
For this reason, Kat recommends you get comfortable by bringing a mask, ear plugs, comfy clothes, essential oils, a blanket and a pillow.
“This is going to tell your body it’s time to go to sleep.”
Particularly important is to wear comfy clothes. Why? “No one’s looking at you and they don’t care,” Kat explained.
So far so standard advice.
Then, however, Kat shared another slightly less common piece of advice: rather than suffer in silence if you are uncomfortable with the temperature (as most of us do), don’t be afraid to ask the flight attendants for a blanket or to turn the temperature up or down in the cabin.

Oh, and if you have kids, Kat recommends you don’t let them use screens, as this will help them to sleep better (and not annoy you or other passengers so much).
In the comments, TikTok users shared their own advice, too, such as “always pick a window seat.” Some also said to “be careful with essential oils” due to allergies other passengers might have.

Most male celebrities, once they’ve made the big time, quickly start collecting watches. Nothing wrong with that – if there weren’t Hollywood superstars, NBA players and hip-hop artists out there with a taste for fine timepieces, us watch fans would be worse off. Call it patronage of the arts.
But watch brands might need to keep their eyes on a growing trend among male celebrities: ‘watch monogamy’. That is, they only wear one watch. They’re only loyal to one watch.
We first noticed it with Jack Harlow, the Tyler Herro and Industry Baby rapper who’s making waves in the music industry. You’d think that the first thing a rapper on the come-up like him would do would be to buy some outrageous chains and an iced-out watch – or three. Nope.
Instead, Harlow almost exclusively wears one watch and one watch only: his Rolex Sky-Dweller ref. 326934-0003 in stainless steel and white gold.

Now, this is hardly a cheap watch. But it’s by no means the most expensive Rolex one can buy. It’s not even the most expensive Sky-Dweller. But Harlow’s faithfulness when it comes to his Sky-Dweller is to be admired… And he’s not the only big-name celeb who appears to only rock one watch.
Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and second in line to the British throne, famously only wears a mid-size quartz OMEGA Seamaster Professional 300M, a gift from his late mother, Princess Diana. It’s a touching way to remember his mum – but also demonstrates his more grounded, personable nature compared to, say, his father. Prince Charles has always had a somewhat laissez-faire approach to monogamy (and we’re not just talking about watches)…
RELATED: Joe Biden’s Understated Timepiece Reaffirms ‘Unspoken’ Presidential Watch Trend
Another watch monogamist is Independence Day actor Jeff Goldblum, who only ever wears his gold Cartier Tank: a classic dress watch that often sits in stark contrast to the eclectic outfits he’s become known for in recent years. The Tank is a watch favoured by many celebrities, including Bill Murray and Tyler, the Creator – but none are as dedicated to the thing as Goldblum.

Of course, there’s another type of ‘watch monogamy’ that watch brands rather celebrate: collectors who are obsessed with one model in particular and just buy heaps of them.
Comedian Kevin Hart is a prime example. Hart might have one of the most impressive and diverse watch collections in Hollywood, but he’s absolutely besotted with the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. The Man owns literally dozens of examples of the desirable luxury sports watch, in stainless steel, ceramic and precious metals and with a wide array of complications.
Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor, on the other hand, is obsessed with the Jacob & Co. Astronomia. He’s got a few, and he loves them so much he even works out with them – despite the fact they’re mostly made out of glass and are probably the worst choice for a workout watch on the planet.
RELATED: Conor McGregor Does The One Thing You Should Never Do With A Luxury Watch

Of course, from a collector’s point of view, being loyal to a single brand can come with some real positives. If you’ve got an established purchasing history with a luxury watch brand, you’ll be moved further up the waiting lists on popular models which are otherwise near-impossible to get at retail, such as the Patek Philippe Nautilus or Rolex Daytona.
Ah, to be wealthy enough that worrying about ‘watch monogamy’ was the worst of my troubles…

When you work out in a gym there are several things you need to make sure you’re doing correctly. These include using the correct form for every exercise, ensuring that you do actually perform some leg workouts and leaving your ego at the door.
One of the aspects of working out many of us likely don’t pay enough attention to, however, is breathing technique. Breathing properly more than likely gets pushed to the bottom of the pile of things to take notice of, because you’re focusing much of your attention on ensuring you’re using the correct form or trying to smash out one or two more reps.
But if you breathe properly during a working set, those extra reps should become a walk in the park, as proper breathing only works to assist you. Fitness trainer, TikTok fitness influencer and owner of THRST, Mike Thurston, recently outlined proper breathing in a video, breaking down when to inhale and when to exhale.
Mike says ideally, “you breathe in through your nose and exhale through your mouth,” yes, you can forget about all the negative points of breathing through your mouth when you’re in the gym. But when should you breathe in and out?
As Mike explains, “Ideally, when you are going through the eccentric part of the movement, the muscle is lengthening, you breathe in.”
“Then, as you contract, go through the concentric phase, you breathe out.” He provides an example using the bench press, explaining you should breathe in as you lower the barbell towards your chest (causing the chest muscles to lengthen) and breathe out as you contract the chest muscles and push the barbell back up to the starting position.
He adds, “You’ll notice, if you do it properly, you’ll be able to get a few more reps in.”
We have previously discussed the importance of breathing when performing back squats, and the message then was much of the same: breathe in during the lowering of the movement, hold the breath to stabilise yourself and breathe out as you push up and back to the starting standing position. Yet, this breathing technique can be applied to all exercises you perform.
Healthline agrees with what Mike is saying and adds it can be incredibly common for one to hold their breath when working out – which, as AARP adds is most likely because holding our breath makes us feel stronger and more stable – but to make a habit of holding the breath can lead to some serious problems.
This is because holding your breath can cause your blood pressure to rise, which can result in dizziness, nausea or worse, a potential heart attack. Deep breathing can also help to naturally slow down the tempo of your reps and sets, which will increase the time under tension, helping your muscles to grow.
So, forget trying to lift a ridiculously heavyweight: if you can’t lift it with good form, or without holding your breath for stabilisation, it’s time to lighten the load.

It’s official: the world is in the midst of a new car shortage. We’re still feeling the sting of the ongoing computer chip shortage, as well as other supply chain and labour disruptions caused by – you guessed it – COVID. On top of that, the used car market remains incredibly hot, partially due to people speculating on new or virtually-new cars, and also due to demand. But you’ve heard all this before.
What people really want to know is how to get the best possible deal when shopping for a second-hand car in this seller’s market. There are a few obvious answers: do your research, shop around, don’t be afraid to haggle, don’t buy a car sight-unseen (although I’ve done exactly that…)
Turns out there’s another way you can get the edge when buying a second-hand car: by learning a few simple body language hacks.
“Simple body language techniques such as… avoiding contradictory body language signals and being conscious of your posture and gestures can empower you to make an informed decision and give you the confidence to negotiate a better price,” Professor Allan Pease, best-selling author of The Definitive Book of Body Language, behaviourist and Allianz Australia expert, tells DMARGE.
One of his top tips is to consider how much eye contact you’re using: “eye contact is important with any negotiation, from business to buying big-ticket items like a car.”
“[For example], in Australia, locals maintain eye-contact 65% of the time and look away 35%. This builds rapport with the seller and show you are listening, friendly and receptive to information.”

A hack that might be less obvious is simply to take a notepad and pen and take notes whilst inspecting the car. “This makes you appear informed and organised, and it keeps your arms and hands from revealing nervous gestures,” Pease relates.
“Body language is picked up subliminally so being aware gives you more overall control of your behaviour.”
RELATED: The Used Car Market Is A ‘Wild West’ Right Now. Here’s How To Avoid Getting Swindled
Another clever move is to take a drink bottle and sip water as you ask questions about the car’s history. “This gives you the chance to think about and analyze what’s being said before you respond. Time is what you need to consider your options, and this is a great way to add ‘the pause’ in a negotiation,” he explains.
A pro tip Pease offers which is less about body language and more about psychological tactics is this: “if you feel pressured into making a decision, explain that while you love the vehicle (if you do) you don’t have the power to make the final decision.”

“[Say] you need to defer to another person who is not available right now. Before you get to the sale, think about who you talk to about your purchase, friend, partner, family and actually run it by them! Or take someone with you! This helps your final decision making and helps you step out of pressure-buying.”
RELATED: How Much You Need To Earn To Buy The Car Of Your Dreams
The other advantage of taking someone with you, of course, is that it’s much safer than going to meet a seller on your own. On a lighter note, it also means you’ve got someone who can drive your car home if you’re successful with the purchase.
Allianz Australia has also put together a handy Private Buyer’s Manual with even more tips on how to get the best deal possible when shopping for a second-hand car.
Now go forth, stand up straight, and conquer…

Sydney plays second fiddle to Melbourne when it comes to nightlife, comedy, laneways and livability.
But it has just claimed a shock victory over Melbourne, with two Sydney bars featuring in the recently released world’s best bars for 2021 rankings, and zero Melbourne bars making the cut.
The Rocks cocktail bar Maybe Sammy slid in at number 22 in the world, while CBD watering hole Cantina Ok! was named the 23rd best bar in the world.
So: what makes these two drink spots so special?
Maybe Sammy is Art Deco, decadent; damn well put together. The three owners (Andrea Gualdi, Martin Hudak, Stefano Catino and Vince Lombardo) hail from a variety of places. This is evident in Maybe Sammy’s style.
According to The World’s 50 Best Bars, Maybe Sammy is reminiscent of: “the great hotel bars of Europe; the swinging sounds of 1960s Las Vegas; bartenders with backgrounds from all over the world; and a very Italian way of hospitality that is nourishing and bold, loud and – most importantly – a lot of fun.”
“Maybe Sammy does all that a grand hotel cocktail bar does, but with more vibrance and whimsy (and without the hotel).”
Cantina Ok! is a little more specialised. It’s a 20-seat cocktail bar (in a garage, in a laneway), which specialises in rare spirits from Mexico. It’s staffed by, as Broadsheet puts it, “three jovial and variously bearded barmen in white aprons” and its “earthy-pink and pine-lined room [is] adorned on almost all sides with bottles of clear spirits, an ornate Nepalese ice-carving machine, a few tubs of homebrew liqueurs and not a single stool or chair.”
Melbourne eat your heart out.
