We’d all like like Chris Hemsworth‘s curvaceous thighs and hammer-ready arms, but for most that goal is as realistic as launching a self-sustaining ‘unicorn’ startup and emigrating indefinitely to Bali. What you can do, however, is workout like him. Enter: the Aussie icon’s new training app, Centr, which – as we reported earlier this year – could take your fitness to a whole new level. On this note, Chris recently posted a video to Instagram with the intention of promoting the app (and having a bit of fun), which had the unintended consequence of revealing a forgotten training technique that most gym warriors of 2019 seem to have forgotten.

The technique? Having fun. Before you berate us for turning something into nothing: hear us out. Multiple studies (and Hugh Jackman) have shown that mucking around, keeping your workout interesting and going to the gym with friends can increase both your progress and your likelihood of maintaining those hard-sweated gains. So don’t be too quick to write off Chris Hemsworth’s iron-wrestling antics, playful banter and bizarre bouts of yelling which he engages in with his mate Jorge and his personal trainer Luke Zocchi – especially in this world of headphones, podcasts and ‘tween-set Insta-scrolling.As for the clip itself, Chris appears to struggle to lift heavy weights and kettlebells, but gets through with his PT and his friend’s motivation. The whole workout was set to ~dramatic~ music, while the guys added some improv sound effects of their own, yelling and grunting.Hemsworth captioned the video: “Wrestling some iron with Jorge and Zoco while yelling loudly and playing dramatic music. Wanna see more of this madness?”It would appear the answer is a firm yes, with Instagram comments rolling in from every direction, from “me va a dar algo” (he’s going to give me a heart attack) to the eternal heart eye emoji. And, even though some dudes took the chance to rib their idol a little (“good to see you’ve lost some weight since endgame”), the number of people who have tried Chris Hemsworth’s workout for 30 days and come away fawning would suggest Australia is far from over its Chris Hemsworth obsession.

Conan O’Brien is not known for his subtlety. In fact, the loudmouth late-night talk show host has made a career out of self-deprecating humour. There is nothing awkward though about Conan’s style, however: while he may not draw much attention to it, TV’s longest working talk show host has some serious panache.
Conan has never really been appreciated for his style choices but a quick journey through his Instagram reveals how we’ve been sleeping on him. When he is not plugging his own comedy tour, Conan shows off some great wardrobe choices on the ‘Gram, particularly ones made during his latest trip to Japan.
The comedian recently traveled to Hokuei in Western Japan – a town with around 15,000 residents that’s colloquially referred to as Conan Town due to its ties to the immensely popular anime series of the same name, which O’Brien recently discovered and cheekily demanded billions from the municipality for using his name in promotions. In return to Conan’s demands, Mayor Akio Matsumoto demanded that the comedian help hand out 1000 cheeseburgers at the town’s station. It was here that Conan took the photo op where he showed off one classy watch.

The Panerai Radiomir PAM573 (A$31,600) is an understated classic timepiece molded from a single piece, and is actually 5N 18ct. red gold. This material has a percentage of copper and platinum in it for visual appeal and to allow for it to go underwater. It comes complete with a brown crocodile-skin strap with white stitching and an 18ct red gold buckle. Conan is not the only celebrity to be a fan of the PAM573: Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt wore the same watch to the 2015 Oscars.
The PAM573 is not Conan’s only Panerai as he has previously been snapped wearing a titanium Panerai Luminor Marina during a meeting with famous Harlem tailor Dapper Dan.

Breitling has relaunched one of the most sought-after collections that are as robust and bold as its name suggests. The redesigned Avenger collection marks an evolution of the brand’s Air Universe watches which features the three collections, Aviator 8, Navitimer and of course the Avenger.
The Avenger is the baby of the Air family having originally debuted in 2011 but the Breitling brand has been associated with the air for over six decades. In the relaunch, the collection has undergone an upgrade but has kept its distinctive rider tabs on their unidirectional ratcheted bezel in sizes ranging from 43mm to 48mm.
The watches in this new collection are available in stainless steel with certain models (which ones) available in Night Mission, the DLC-coated titanium case, a material known for its robust and lightweight properties. The collection is water-resistant to a minimum of 300 meters with the exception of the Avenger Automatic 45 Seawolf which is water-resistant to 3000 meters. The seawolf also stands out thanks to a striking yellow dial with hands and indexes specifically coated to make it easy to read.
One of the standouts of the seven watches strong collection is the distinctive Breitling Avenger Swiss Air Force Team Limited Edition which features the logo of the team on the subdial at the 9 o’clock position. The watch stands out though thanks to its yellow and red accents on the subdial with a yellow-tipped seconds hand.
The collection still retains its Breitling DNA but the update reflects the change in the time, and not all pilots are in the sky. In fact, one of its Pioneers Squad to represent the collection is Luke Bannister, a World Drone Champion who won his first World Drone Prix at age 15. The other members of the ‘squad’ are Scott Kelly, an astronaut who spent a year at the International Space Station and Commandant Rocío González Torres who has logged over 100 hours of flight time.
Explore the full Breitling Avenger collection in the gallery below.

Shake the sand off your bikini and reactivate Tinder; Bali may yet backflip on its controversial new ‘sex law‘ which was set to prevent single tourists from hooking up in Bali. The supposedly ‘chill’ island made headlines last week when the Indonesian parliament considered passing a law that would see sex between unmarried couples punished by a stint behind bars. That debate has now been put on hold, with the Bali Hotels Association encouraging tourists to “continue their activities as usual.” As reported by The Mail Online, the Hotels Association said new laws were a “recommendation” and not yet imposed. So far so non-committal (and yes, you would expect this message from a body which depends on tourists). However, that said, the organisation made some good points – which suggest the media may have over-hyped the whole “bonk ban” just a tad.“The Bali Hotels Association released a statement in the wake of recent media coverage… [trying to] shut down reports of the proposed ban by telling tourists ‘to stay calm and continue their activities (or planned activities) as usual,'” The Mail Online reported earlier today.“Based on various feedback, the President of The Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian Parliament have agreed to indefinitely postpone the passing of the bill with those new regulations,” the statement said.

The bill, named the ‘Adultery Act’, was highlighted by the association as a “recommendation” and “has not yet [been] formally issued and cannot be enforced.”So if you have a trip to Bali in the near future – don’t get your knickers in a twist (or rather, feel free to do so). But maybe hold off on booking a new one if you don’t want to take your chances with the suggested legislation being passed.

Luckily Ben Simmons is a born and raised Essendon fan or else he could have seriously ruined his latest vehicle purchase. Why? Well, Essendon black and red is the perfect match for a Ferrari 488 Pista, which the basketballer proudly showed off on his Instagram story this afternoon in what he called his “Bomber Essendon FC inspired” vehicle.
Judging by his Instagram stories the star is holding onto the car, posting the 488 Pista logo over twelve hours ago and then followed by a video showing off the full car some eight hours later. The Ferrari 488 Pista was launched last year and was the most powerful V8 in Ferrari’s history with the ability to go from 0/100km/h in 2.85 seconds. Unfortunately for Simmons, it’s unlikely he will be able to hit its top speed of 340km/h in Philadelphia where he resides during the NBA season.
The Ferrari Simmons was showing off is matte grey with red and black racing stripes which fortunately for the star matches his beloved Essendon team. Can you imagine if he was a Hawthorn fan? Good luck ever finding a luxury vehicle in those colours.
The Australian NBA superstar loves his cars and can usually be seen driving his bespoke Rolls-Royce Cullinan but has also shown off a 488 Ferrari and Dodge Challenger SRT.

Despite Australian media attempts to bring the star down due to his ‘lavish’ choices, Simmons continues to be unfazed, particularly if this latest purchase is anything to go by. After all, why wouldn’t you drive fast cars?

We’d all love to charm each other with minimal awkwardness. Unfortunately, much like smoke and fire, embarrassment is the inevitable flipside to excitement (you are – literally – putting yourself out there, after all).
This in mind there is a smooth new dating trend you need to try (or at least know about) if you want to eek the most out of your 21st-century existence: ‘jibing.’
However, to understand ‘jibing’ you must first understand ‘flatzoning’ – the evil stepbrother of ‘friendzoning.’ What’s that, you ask? As one of our D’Marge employees (who was recently ‘flatzoned’) anonymously admits, it is “the phenomenon of being homeless but f**kable.”
Before you (rightly) crucify us for such glib usage of the word “homeless,” we don’t mean literally living rough, we mean living somewhere you’d rather not be (think: your parents’ basement) but being denied when you apply to live somewhere else on the basis of your attractiveness.

Instead of finding a flat, you find a friend with benefits, who doesn’t want to live with you because they think it could be awkward to live with someone they might like to date. Hence the term: ‘flatzoning,’ which, when you think about it, is the exact opposite to ‘friendzoning.’
Anyway, this leads into a broader trend of ‘jibing,’ which is the term given to people finding love on apps which are not meant for dating (think Flatmates, Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace, etc.).
To get the down-low on this phenomenon, we spoke to Dr Nikki Goldstein, a sexologist, relationship expert and host of the podcast Sex & Life, who recently had a friend engage in a little ‘jibing’ action herself.
“I have this friend where she was selling furniture on Gumtree and [this guy] rocked up to the door to buy something from her.”
“With these things,” Nikki continues, “the benefit is you already have their number so it takes the awkwardness away from asking for someone’s details.” So even though you might not know this person, you tend to have a smoother interaction with them than you would with a standard Tinder date.
“I think it happens… a lot. These apps and websites that are not meant for meeting people, but you meet people.”
So, how exactly does ‘jibing’ go down? According to Nikki, this is a classic ‘jibing’ scenario: “You don’t know who the person is but then they come to pick up that thing (or check the room) and there’s a connection.”
“The easy part about this is that it’s easier to text them and say, ‘Hey let’s get a drink sometime.’ The harder thing is when you see someone in person these days, think there’s a connection, and then have to ask for their number.”
But back to Nikki’s friend: not only is ‘jibing’ often easier than meeting people in a club or bar, but it can also be more natural than Tinder: “When he rocked up he wasn’t putting on some kind of front – there was no expectation of a date – so in that setting even though you might feel nervous because you like the person, it’s safe to say you’re probably not putting on a mask.”
“On a tinder date, on the other hand, you might not be yourself (and) you might not be chatty because you’ve been thinking about this date for the last few hours.”
When ‘jibing,’ however, “You are in more of a natural state,” Nikki says, “Which is why I think it will work better [than] one of these dates where you’re sitting across from someone with pressure but no inspiration for a conversation.”
To the contrary, when ‘jibing’ you can base your conversation around the room, people, furniture or whatever trade you might be doing, which relieves the pressure: “Say you’re going for a tour of their apartment or spare room, you might be having a conversation about how much it’s going to cost, or the books on the coffee table, their likes and interests,” Nikki says, “and have that banter without the pressure of, ‘What am I going to say next.'”
The last question to consider is this: is now more socially acceptable to meet your partner on Facebook Marketplace than on Tinder or Bumble? Nikki doesn’t necessarily agree, telling us these chance meetings have always happened throughout history, and they now continue to happen, albeit in a different way, facilitated by technology.
And, according to Nikki, this is actually quite an important topic for dating experts to delve into, as many people “are either really struggling with their social skills because they are on their phone all day, or they have blinkers on when it comes to dating in the real world.”
The takeaway? We would say happy swiping but in light of recent developments: happy ‘jibing.’

For those of you who reside in a colder climate (or get cold when the thermometer drops below 20 degrees Celsius), you'll understand why a winter coat is a wardrobe essential. The problem is; finding the perfect one can be harder than you'd think.
Why? A great winter coat needs to be warm, timele...

Wind-whipped deserts. The Burj Khalifa. Mammoth aquariums. Indoor ski slopes. Dubai is known for many things, but – as an Emirates spokesperson has confirmed to D’Marge – the United Arab Emirates’ flagship carrier’s “perfect” new premium-economy offering is not yet one of them – and nor will it be for some time.
While that is still set to change (see: Conde Nast’s July article “Emirates’ Premium Economy Launches Next Year”), as Emirates president Tim Clarke revealed at a press conference on Sunday, it’s not going to happen as quickly as faux-flat travellers might like.
Why? Well, although Emirates appeared ready to bring its customers a premium-economy seat in June 2020 on its new fleet of Boeing 777Xs, as Tim Clarke revealed at Sunday’s media briefing, they are unlikely to be ready on time.
When asked whether the 150-strong fleet of 777X jets would arrive by July 2020, president Clarke responded, “I would strongly suggest that it won’t,” Arabian Business reports. He then commented on the news that Boeing has pushed back the first flight of its 777X to 2020 amid problems with its turbines (a door allegedly blew off during testing), saying the issue remains unsolved.
“We still have not had sight on a resolution on that… So if you ask me when, how, and what, I can’t tell you because I don’t know,” (Arabian Business).
This means the first time customers will experience premium-economy on an Emirates flight will likely be on an Airbus A380, whose refreshed premium-economy offering is set to be rolled out in December 2020.
When asked whether this assumption is accurate, an Emirates spokesperson told D’Marge: “We plan to introduce premium-economy on a small number of aircraft next year, as we continue to work on ensuring that our booking and other backend systems support this new product.”
In other words: good news for a select few.
However, in bad news for Australian travellers looking for extra recline without splurging on business-class (and for that matter, premium-economy enthusiasts worldwide), Emirates’ spokesperson then added that a bigger rollout won’t take place until 2021.
“We will make the announcements on aircraft type and routes once we are ready to do so. We expect a bigger rollout of our premium-economy product by 2021.”
While most news outlets have focussed on what this means for Emirates (with Simple Flying critiquing the cutting-edge-carrier over – for once – languishing behind its rivals and Bloomberg writing about the “looming demise” of the Airbus Superjumbo), we’d like to take a moment to reflect on what this means for Australian travellers.
Currently, if you want to fly from Sydney to Dubai (for instance) with Emirates, and then onto one of the 161 destinations the airline hops to from there (think: Madrid, London, Paris, etc. for that impending Euro Summer trip) you currently have the choice of First, Business or Economy.
Although many airlines are phasing out first-class to make way for more business-class seats, just as not everyone can afford to fly first-class, there is a growing market of passengers who want to escape The Economy Crunch but who can’t afford to fly completely flat.
Enter: premium-economy, a never-zone which an Emirates spokesperson told D’Marge is set to tantalise more than just your spine.
“Our team is working on the perfect product that combines all of the signature elements you would find in premium economy (pitch of seat, configuration, recline, food, private toilet) done in an Emirates way.”
The exact details are yet to be released, but airline websites like Simple Flying report, “Emirates’ new premium-economy seat is predicted to be the Haeco Eclipse seat,” which is – on the airlines that currently have it – used as a short-haul business class and long-haul premium-economy product.
In other words, assuming Emirates assigns premium-economy carrying jets to the various long haul Australia to Dubai routes, Australians will be getting a short-haul business class offering for a (long-haul) premium-economy price.
In the eternal words of Instagram; not bhed.
Another piece of apparently surprising information is that Emirates’ A380s are being phased out as their leases expire. However, as this will take place gradually (first stabilizing at about 115 aircraft; then going down to 90-100 by the middle of the 2020s, before disappearing around 2035), the fact that Emirates is still making the effort to endow them with premium-economy still makes sense.
The main takeaway for Australian travellers looking to let their seats down (but not too much) on their world-crossing jaunts? Hold tight (or fly Qantas) until 2021, when Emirates completes their expected larger-scale overhaul, which is more likely to affect Aussie routes than next year’s, which is set to be a smaller rollout.
