What do the drivers of this world want out of an every day car in 2016? Each year Consumer Reports and its team of automotive experts pick apart almost every car sold in the US to find which ones are a cut above the rest as part of Consumer Reports’ Top Picks.

To make it as a Top Pick, a car must pass Consumer Reports’ track tests, offer average or better reliability, perform effectively in government or industry crash tests, and return high owner-satisfaction scores in Consumer Reports’ surveys.

From minivans to SUV’s, sports cars and compact roadsters, a total of 10 cars were chosen mostly from Japanese brands, but a handful from American brands and one from Korea also made the cut.
