See A Quirky Collection Of The World's Very First Computers

The humble computer has no doubt come a long way since its advent in 1946 as an oversized number cruncher used by specialist researchers.

Today humans have smartphones, smart screens, smart watches and just about anything you can tack a ‘smart’ label to. British photographer James Ball decided to take a look back instead of forward for his latest project which involves a visit to the National Museum of Computing to document some of the first computers to ever exist in human history.

The photos have been deftly retouched to bring the machines back to their former glory as seen in these art-inspired prints.

From bulky desktops to towering circuit boards, Ball has captured a cool and retrospective collection of photographs that are both art and nod to the hey days of digital technology.
