Despite 10 of the world’s deadliest animals all residing in sunny Australia, a recent study by luxury travel agents Virtuoso has found that the land down under is still the number one holiday destination for affluent travellers.

Virtuoso’s 2016 report lists Australia as the best place for a luxury holiday, ahead of popular overseas destinations like Italy, the Fiji islands, Greece and New Zealand. This is mainly because the study’s respondents indicated that beach holidays were the most coveted of all kinds of getaways, followed by adventure travel, culture and history tours, family trips and gastronomic tours.

When it comes to experience, Virtuoso found that multi-generational holidays, where everyone from your nana to the grandkids comes along, are top priority for travellers in 2016.
